After installation of image 4.14 does not save boot.ini?

Unread postby Snk » Wed Nov 29, 2017 5:44 am

Hello all good night
I would like to share with you an error that I am having with my XU4.
After installing the 4.14 kernel-based image and making the necessary modifications to boot.ini, even restarting does not save the changes.
Would stay

setenv memory frequency 933
setenv cpu governor "ondemand"
setenv HDMI CEC "true"

Even by modifying these files, restarting the changes does not seem to take effect. CEC remains disabled, CPU governor continues in performance and memory at 825.

Only I have the same problem?

1. Cec is actually working. Check dmesg | grep-i cec
But it’s using the new cec framework common for all cec drivers which has not been implemented by libcec (yet). You can however use lirc where cec is an input device similar to a remote control

2. I didn’t implement any hack to set governor from kernel cmd line. Don’t know how it was done before but it was a HK hack. Use userspace utilities like you would do on a Norma PC. Google how to do it.

3. Memory freq - are you sure it’s not set? What uboot version are you running?

1 - odroid@odroid:~$ sudo dmesg | grep-i cec
-bash: grep-i: command not found

2 - So that does not work by changing the boot.ini
I can only change, using the shortcut created in the upper bar, where it indicates the frequency of the processor.

3 - I am using the most current version, which accompanies the image of the day 26/11/2017 (fist release)

The good news is that from what I think, now my external hard drive is working with UAS:

1 - Nothing

2 - Thank's!
3 - Since changing by boot.ini both the CEC activation, both the CPU governor, is not saving the settings made, I find it unlikely that the frequency is set correctly.

1. you can try to remove all CEC references in boot.ini, for example: http://paste.debian.net/998081/
3. frequency is set by u-boot not by kernel, it does not matter the kernel version

It's possible HK did not enable CEC in the kernel config (I'm running custom kernel config).
Please check:
Code: Select all
$ zcat /proc/config.gz  | grep -i cec
CONFIG_CEC_CORE=y
CONFIG_CEC_NOTIFIER=y
CONFIG_MEDIA_CEC_SUPPORT=y
CONFIG_MEDIA_CEC_RC=y

# CONFIG_USB_PULSE8_CEC is not set
# CONFIG_USB_RAINSHADOW_CEC is not set
# CONFIG_VIDEO_VIVID_CEC is not set
CONFIG_CEC_PLATFORM_DRIVERS=y

CEC is disable in kernel? o.O
@odroid, will be fixed the option to make the frequency and CPU governor settings in boot.ini at some point as already used in kernel 4.9?

DRAM frequency should be set in u-boot. It is not related to the Kernel.
https://github.com/mdrjr/5422_bootini/b ... t.ini#L139

CPU governor could be changed with this command.
Code: Select all
echo 'GOVERNOR="performance"' | sudo tee /etc/default/cpufrequtils
sudo reboot

Thank's!!!
So now, this mode below has no effect anymore?
Code: Select all
# CPU Governor Selection
# Available governos: conservative, userspace, powersave, ondemand, performance, schedutil
setenv governor "ondemand"

Right.
We will check the feasibility. Kernel 4.14 has slightly different kernel parameters.

you should use userspace programs to set governor :) not relay on a kernel hack for it
