Security Monitor & Family Interface

Unread postby XLT_Frank » Thu Jun 29, 2017 2:42 am

Good day!
I am thinking about using the XU4 with Android to use as a central place for a family calendar and to view our Security Cameras. I would love to have some feedback on my planned build before purchasing anything.
  • Odroid XU4 with latest Android build available connected to my network via wired ethernet.
  • Dell S2240T to provide a somewhat large enough touch screen to view up to 6 security cameras.
  • I am planning on using the Synology Surv. Station app for Android that pulls live or playback from my DS216+II.
  • Will probably put a frame around the slightly disassembled monitor and recessed into the wall
  • Is there anyone who has used the Synology apps on these builds of Android?
  • Suggesting for adding a HID compatible proximity sensor for activating the monitor out of screensaver?
Any other ideas?

I heard Dell S2240T touchscreen worked out of the box with XU4 Android.
Synology Surv. Station app seems to be compatible too.

You can build a USB HID proximity sensor with an Arduino-Micro compatible board and a proximity sensor.
Just emulate a HID mouse or keyboard to wake the ODROID up.

Or in a more complicated way you can use a camera to trigger the wake-up on movement. I'm sure there must be an android app for that. Bonus points if you analyze an existing stream from a synology camera :)
