This multiboot image can be flashed on 16GB cards/modules and up. Download link: http://berryboot.alexgoldcheidt.com/odroid-c2/

Note: this multiboot image will work on MicroSD cards and eMMC modules. I recommend eMMC modules.

Many thanks to: @loboris, @odroid, @dimitris_c, @barturblits and @luffyman for making this possible. If anyone find issues on this image, just let me know.
Wow Alex, great job! :)

But how do I get this image on an eMMC module? I have a micro SD card (USB) reader, but not an eMMC reader/adapter.

Would this be any good?:

Or might there be another way?

Thank you in advance! :)

You can get an adapter from HardKernel. The one you've seen on AliExpress will not work. You'd need to solder the emmc to that board.

If you can't get one and you have an XU3/4, you can boot from SD card (with the boot switch) and with the eMMC plugged in. Then you can flash the image to the emmc with DD directly on the ODROID.

If you only have a C series, and you can boot from your eMMC, there was a guide to flash it - but it works only one time, wiping the original OS and writing the image. The risk is - if for some reason it doesn't boot, you can't reuse the same method, because the board will not boot. Search the forum for that post if you really need it.

That adapter is not for the odroid emmc. It is for the raw chip of emmc.
You need to get one from the Odroid distributors.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the quick reply! Is it this one?:
http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products ... 5415955758

Only problem is I have to pay $16 postage costs for a $1.50 adapter... (total $17.50)
Also, the way the eMMC module is attached to the micro SD card I won't be able to use my USB adapter. So I would also have to get another micro SD USB adapter.

And wouldn't this one be the same?:
https://ameridroid.com/products/emmc-adapter

Then I would pay $19.39 including a (the) Transcend USB3 to micro SD adapter [0106-NE].

Think about what else would you like to buy (power adapter, RTC, case, wifi usb, other stuff for your Odroid SBC) and place the order including the emmc adapter you need.
$15 shipping is too much for just the adapter you wish.

Hi,

thx for this Tool.

I'm new here and I'd like to upgrade my xu4 (ubuntu OS, do-release-upgrade seams to not work), but I've lost the emmc adapter.

So I wanna try this, not sure if it's correct:
- install this img to SD card/USB ?!
- and switch boot from SD card on Odroid.

When I've tryed it under Windows it creares just 250MB USB (rest is unallocated)
Will there be a option to set as target dir the emmc?

Can someone help me with it ?

thx

The multiboot installer lets you choose the target. You can flash the installer on sdcard, boot from sd and use the onscreen wizard to write the images to emmc (without the need for a reader).

I haven't run the multiboot installer, but the instructions say to place the images on the first partition of a USB drive. Make sure to rename them so that the installer can find them.

I've just tested it and according these steps I'm not able to run it:

1. the 5GB linux.img cant be added to the Multiboot SDcard as the Sieze is low (250MB), I've tryed to allocate the rest of the SDcard and copyed the image threre

2. I've also tryed to copy the image to separate 64GB USB Key (NTFS)

in both cases I've received:

Error copying multiboot files

Press E to exit...

Also on start there an info:

!No Multiboot card detected

any suggestion?

thx

I've experienced a very hot (you could barely touch it) emmc immediatelly after plugging it in. I couldn't recover it. I assume it was damaged by static electricity when I touched it. It was 32GB and one year old
Try using the reader and see if dmesg sees anything when it's plugged

How do we go about updating an OS in this multiboot image? I downloaded and flashed my microSD card with the latest multiboot (Android 6.0.1, Ubuntu MATE 16.04.2, LibreELEC 8.0.2 and Lakka v2) and it works great. Then I tried to updated LibreElec using the auto updater in the LibreElec menus and it overwrote the boot.ini so I no longer get the multiboot menu. On top of that, most of my shares in LibreElec have now stopped working.... The update for LibreElec seemed to go fine, but now on boot, I get an error: FAILED to start setup user config dir

Long story short, how do we update LibreElec in this multiboot environment (manually, or otherwise)?

This is my inaugural post on this forum. Hello everyone!

I'm a complete Linux noob, but I've been having some success with messing around with this board since I got it last week.

I'm trying to dualboot into Android 7.1 and the Gamestation Turbo OS. I flashed the multiboot img for my XU4 onto an SD card, and loaded the correctly named OS installers onto a USB drive. I'll be installing to a currently blank 64 GB EMMC card, and plan to use the SD card as storage that both OS's can work from.

When I boot from the SD card, however, I get the green icons on top, then just a message in blue text that says something like "Booted from: SD" and nothing else, no menu, just black. I reflashed the card (using Windows and Etcher), but sadly get the same result. I'm flashing v 2.1, as I can't seem to find a premade 2.2 img and I'm nowhere near ready to build one out on my own.

I tried to read through these posts pretty thoroughly, but I didn't see anyone else having this problem. Looks like people are doing just fine with their C2 boards, though.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Edit: Second question, if I ever get this working. Since I plan on using bluetooth devices exclusively to control the device (and I can't, therefore, make any selections during the boot menu), I plan on having the XU4 always boot into Linux natively. Is there a way to boot into the Android partition with a terminal command from the Linux partition? And vice versa?

Alright, figured out most of the problems I was having (I was only seeing the upper two lines in the boot menu because my monitor was upscaling the signal).

I've successfully flashed my eMMC card with the provided XU4 image using the dd command (I've even tried the v 2.2 build), but when I boot to it, I only get a solid blue light and nothing happens. Any tips? Am I doing something stupid? When I write the image to an SD card, however, I have no problems at all, but the installer can't find my eMMC so I can't install to it. I'm thinking I might need to edit the boot.ini file, but I don't know where to start.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

I tried pressing "I" to prepare the card during the boot and it also doesn't work.

At least I have found this forum thread to ask my question whether there is a working solution for Batocera Multiboot on XU4 yet?.
Batocera includes KODI, so I just would like to add an additional OS like Android and/or some kind of Debian/Ubuntu.
Is there any chance to get a push-button solution or at least an easy way? No Lakka/Retropie please, I prefer Batocera or Recalbox. Thanks mates :)

Hello.
I own a C2 and played with it a little.
I tried to have multiboot. Doing myself the process is a complex operation. I used an image file with 4 OSes.
I got frustrated because I ended up wasting half of the microSD card (16GB of 32) not being able to extend the partitions.

These days I had my first contact with a RPi3.
That NOOBS loader is a great tool. You can install multiple operating systems just clicking with the mouse.

It would be nice to have such a tool for Odroid devices.
This is just an idea:
- in the first step just select the device (C1,C2, XU3, XU4, etc.) if it is not be possible to detect automatically.
- second step choose which operating systems to install (officially just 2 but libreelec and lakka may also be added)

I know the NOOB os instalation images are retrieved from internet.
The idea I propose for such an Odroid multiboot installer is to have also the possibility to choose the image source (online, other local usb drive, network drive).

I think a fully customizable multiboot installer menu with GUI wouldn't be difficult to be done.
I imagine an editable ini file in which are specified the menu entries. Every entry has to be linked to a local image file (generic/particular name + description/version), url to the online repo or local network drive.

Odroid multiboot installer should use the ini file in its GUI. Just boot the installer, choose which OS'es you wish to install and hit Proceed button.

Some additional info about each image may be needed in order to calculate the needed disk space to prevent incomplete operation due to disk space underrun.

I do not have knowledge about linux (I always google for tutorials or command line hints) but I bet there are enough fans to do this OdroidNoobs.
