Wifi Adaptor dead / disabled after running update on XU4

Unread postby Samuel Low » Thu Mar 01, 2018 1:00 am

I followed the instructions in the manual and ran this:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade && \
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

From page 45 in the XU4 manual, and now my wifi adaptor is dead! The blue LED stopped switching on.

When I run lsusb, I can see my USB connection with the Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8812AU 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WLAN Adaptor

But when I just cannot connect to the internet. Running ifconfig or iwconfig only shows me eth0 and l0, no wlan0 anymore.

Please help! I need to solve this issue I have to run lots of things before a deadline this week. Thank you...

Nevermind, in desperation, I have decided to completely reflash my Ubuntu Mate on my XU4. I would still like to know how to fix the issue of a disabled Wifi adaptor on the XU4 in case it happens in future though.
