Wifi Mod 5B not working with XU4

Post by CASATORTUGA »

Just received the Wifi Mod 5B for my XU4. Image installed is the latest ARES (RetroArena).

Mod is showing as memory device when I enter lsusb in command prompt. I am able to change it temporarily via modeswitch, but it changes back to memory on reboot.

If the ARES image is based on generic Ubuntu OS, you can use udeve rules to run the modeswitch automatically in the booting process.
Anyway, you might need to report the issue to RetroArena developers.

If you can find "0BDA:C820" from lsusb command output, it works in WiFi mode.

Almost 3 years ago, I played with RTL8821CU chipset driver compiling.

But, I am not sure if it is still valid on your RetroArena OS Linux kernel and sources.
