3,5" HDD for the HC1

Post by deivizbass »

Hi,
My HC1 NAS is starting to run low on free space, and I need to go for a 3,5" drive. Ideally I would change the chassis/heatsink for the one in the HC2, but I'm not sure if I can get one. The other option is to get a case for the HDD and use a sata cable, but I don't really like this solution as it is bulkier and less robust.

Any idea will be appreciated, kind regards!

3.5inch HDD requires additional 12Volt power rail.
So you need to change the PCB as well as the PSU.
We don't sell the chassis separately either.
Sorry about that.

So I'm still planning on using a 3,5" HDD with my HC1. While wiring the sata power cable with an external power supply, I noticed the 12VDC holes in the PCB, and I also verified that are indeed connected with the sata port. Is it safe to use this to wire a 12V power supply? I couldn't find any shcematic...
