That worked now..! :D Great Work!
but I still have the same problem as mentioned above:
Wondermusic wrote:

But if I try to install or update addons, I get the message: "The dependency on kodi.binary.global.main in version 1.1.0 could not be resolved."
Can I change that somewhere within Kodi or do you have to change something?

EDIT: It's not for all addons. I have problems to update InputStream Adaptive and Sidplay Audio Decoder (no really need for that, but there's allways the error message after booting the machine). My real Problem is that I'm not able to install any pvr addons. In fact I need at least Enigma2 Client and Tvheadend HTSP Client.

Hello all,

I recently acquired an Odroid XU4 and stumbled upon this great distro which meets all my needs. Thank you escalade for all your work!

I too am getting problems installing certain addons, I keep getting the same error: "The dependency on kodi.binary.global.main version 1.1.0 could not be satisfied."

Has anyone been able to fix this? I am running the 04-26 SD image

Sorry for the noob question guys. I own an Odroid_XU4 and I've been running android TV for years. I'd like to try out this OS on a spare sd card, I've clicked on the Google drive link but I'm not sure which image to download.

For SD card installation on XU4, download the latest image found directly in the odroid folder.

/sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/trip_point_0_temp
/sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone1/trip_point_1_temp

and so on would need to be adjusted, but cant directly on libreelec elec because of the filesystem
I am looking into adjusting the PWM fan control to a custom curve, and I have found that beyond setting the 3 "trip point" thresholds, you can also set the fan speed for each of those. For a reason I don't understand, some files are not present in the system device:

/sys/devices/platform/pwm-fan/hwmon/hwmon0/automatic
/sys/devices/platform/pwm-fan/hwmon/hwmon0/pwm1

These are used in HardKernel's documentation for linux and even in some control script I found ported for LibreELEC:

https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/appl ... _fan_speed
https://github.com/jcreixell/odroid-xu4-fan-control

Maybe this has to do with some option when compiling the kernel, idk.

Same here, the is no image for SD cards just for Emmc.
I tried to boot the image from panfrost folder but receive same message as other user from here "*** Error in mount_storage: mount_common: Could not mount UUID=23xxxxxxxx...xxxxxxxx0ea3"

Thank you for working on Xu4 RetroElec version

Hi

maybe good to know:

the latest kernel/dtb is really picky about undervoltage issues on our old xu4...

i couldnt get this image running no matter if sd/emmc until i deep cleaned all the connectors with a strong shot of brake cleaner...

works great try it if you have issues... dont forget the emmc socket and the power socket

anyways great build, many thanks to the developer because i was about to throw this board out until this reasonable for htpc project emerged.

Hi escalade,
I have tried several distros on XU4 trying to get the best experience with kodi, gaming etc. This distro is by far the nicest.
One thing is stopping me however and it is getting my bluetooth gamepad to work. I have connected, paired and trusted in both kodi and bluetoothctl.
I have the following rule in storage/.config/udev.rules.d:
SUBSYSTEM=="input", ATTRS{name}=="PG-9118", KERNEL=="event*", MODE="0666", ENV{LIBINPUT_IGNORE_DEVICE}="1"
SUBSYSTEM=="input", ATTRS{name}=="PG-9118", KERNEL=="event*", MODE="0666", ENV{ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK}="1"

Tried with and without the first line, which is suposedly needed for kodi18.

It is not present in /proc/bus/input/devices

It is showing as PG-9118 in bluetoothctl

I know it is yet another noob cant connect his gamepad, but any help is greatly appreciated.

The gamepad does work and I have been succesfull in testing with jstest in the standard latest ubuntu for xu4

Thanks.

Hello,
I downloaded last version on google drive and still have error message :

### Starting debugging shell for boot step: mount_storage--- type exit to quit ###

Seems that partition is still F2FS type ... no ?

New image uploaded:

- Integrated Flatpak package manager!
- Kodi Leia 18.7
- Built with GCC 10.1
- Replaced dosbox-svn-libretro with dosbox-core-libretro
- Updated all cores

Can you guys test CEC on this one? I synced my libcec with LE upstream.

Nope... Even after several restart's still the same error message. :(

Kodi want's to install Version 2.5.3.1of InputStream Adaptive - but this is a Matrix Version.
Same for the Sidplay Audio Decoder (2.1.1)
And i guess it's the same for the PVR Clients I want to install. At least I need the hts.pvr addon

Cheers,

Ok, I found the issue. The LibreELEC repo for H3 switched to Matrix, I've removed it from the build so it should not request those versions anymore. Try the new build, which also has xdg-desktop-portal(s) for Flatpak.

Hi escalade,

thx for the update! Now there is no problem anymore on updating the addons.
But now there are no pvr addons anymore in the list... Is it possible to compile the hts.pvr plugin for me again?

Thanks in advance. :)

Sure thing, uploaded the latest pvr.hts addon together with an updated image (refreshed Weston desktop and some under the hood Flatpak polish). For those interested in other addons from the LibreELEC repo, things look promising as they are setting up a common ARM repo: https://github.com/LibreELEC/LibreELEC.tv/pull/4392

They have previously asked me if I'm interested in upstreaming my XU4 work, but honestly I'm losing interest in the XU4 as Panfrost still isn't ready (at least not for midgard/xu4) and at this point there are other more promising SoC's.

Although I've been quiet lately, it's just because I've been busy working on RetroELEC for the Odroid Go Advance :-) I'm happy to report that it runs really well and is pretty much ready to go. For anyone interested keep an eye out for my thread in the near future.

Thank you very much for this ! I installed your image from June 5 on an XU4. This is my first time running LibreElec and/or Kodi.
My main use case is to play DVD & Blu-ray ISO from my NAS.

I am having issues with the menus on both DVD and Blu-rays. This seems to be a Java problem. Do you know what needs to be done to fix it ?
If I play the main title from the start without menus, I succeed at playing both.

The main exception is Blu-ray 3D. No matter what mode I try under Playing settings and System/Display, my TV (Sharp Aquos LC-60LE835U) won't kick into 3D mode, which it is supposed to do automatically (it does if I use an HTPC with Cyberlink PowerDVD). Is 3D mode not supported on the Odroid XU4 ?

I also tried to play some 4K UHD BR ISO, but the XU4 couldn't keep up. I guess lack of hardware HEVC decoder is the reason.

As far as bugs, I have had stability problems with the UI rebooting itself or displaying a black screen when trying to resume a Blu-ray disc from where the point that it was previously started.

FYI, just tested the latest LibreElec with my Raspberry Pi 3 and it plays those same Blu-Ray ISO discs just fine. Puts my TV in 3D mode. And no issues with menus or crashes so far.
So, these seem to be ODROID XU4 specific problems.

Thanks for this update escalade. I was able to get Widevine CDM and other addons installed on my XU4 and it is performing OK.

ES starts now, but a gamepad which worked in kodi well doesn't work in ES.

Upgraded to latest image, still no CEC working, seems like the kernel updates killed it. TV is a Samsung 4K model.

Code: Select all

RetroELEC-XU4:~ # cec-client -l
libCEC version: 4.0.4, compiled on Mon Jun 29 12:26:43 UTC 2020 by root@arch-build on Linux 5.8.0-rc2 (x86_64), features: P8_USB, DRM, P8_detect, randr
Found devices: NONE
Any tips or suggestions? :-)

I will send you beer money eventually. I'm moving away from the XU4 slowly too.
It does power my living room media though... oh well!

BTW did you ever find out why some of us had issues with HDMI-CEC? I need to retest your latest lib, but something in the kernel changed between one of your releases that killed CEC for me.

Hi! I have a problem. About half of my psp's roms fails to start with an error 'Error loading file: failed to load executable: file corrupt.'. Can you help me with it please? Should I set/unset any options?

Is it possible boot directly to KODI without keyboard and ethernet attached?

Yes, you can edit the bootloader and change frontend=emulationstation to frontend=kodi.

I found that this parameter set to kodi by default. But still I need to connect keyboard and press ctrl+alt+f1/f2 to skip splashscreen. Pressing buttons on xbox one gamepad conected by USB have no effect

Well, you said start kodi not skip splash. Simply add "nosplash" to do that.

Hi,

I was using the rom since some time when my monitor died of age.
I bought a new one but no output was being displayed...

I downloaeded the last rom and tried again, but still no display.
Finaly I found the boot.ini and forced the resolution to something lower (1900*1200) and I got some display !

But it is only a wallpaper with a nice blue car.
I waited quite a time but I am stuck on this wallpaper and nothing launches. I have the mouse cursor but it is useless and I cannot do anything with my keyboard.

Any idea to solve my boot problem ?

Thanks.
