Freeing unused kernel memory

Unread post by onda » Tue Jan 23, 2018 4:49 am

Hi,

I have been flashing Debian operating system on an eMMC 5.1 for a product and today I got an error during system boot and it does not go further. It says "Freeing unused kernel memeory: 424k (c08a6000 - c0910000)"

Can anyone please help me resolve this as I have to keep the production flowing.

Thanks

I have the same message every time I try booting the device. I have flashed many eMMCs with the same image before and I never had this issue.

Could you tell me what causes this ?

See the wiki, it's a kernel incompatibility issue.

"Debian-Jessie-1.1.4-20171121-XU3+XU4.img" should work since meveric already updated his Kernel 3.10.y for new eMMC chipsets.

Can you please try "ubuntu-16.04-mate-odroid-xu3-20170731.img" to narrow down the root causes?

What is the eMMC module PCB color?

Thank you for sharing this information. The custom Debian OS we have for the application has kernel 3.10 and the new eMMC is not compatible.

We have a custom Debian OS "Debian-7.1-3.10.96p-wheezy-xu3-2016.02.11-v1.0.img" compiled for our application. The eMMC 5.1 works fine with the "ubuntu-16.04-mate-odroid-xu3-20170731.img" and have no issues while booting.

The eMMC module PCB color is Red. https://ameridroid.com/products/64gb-em ... -xu3-linux. Can I still buy the eMMC v 5.0 ?

No. Sandisk and Samsung don't make old 5.0 chipset anymore.
