Anyone tried to build the alternative gpu driver for 15.04 and check if this fixed the black screen issue somehow?

in 14.1 rc1 all videos have mosthing like frams drops (same as 13.2)
it's stopped every 3 or 5 sec for less than a sec and work again

.. during bootstrap I think I got a similr message like --enable-xrandr was not recoignized .. any advice for me? (try to build on u3)

Looks like some files from the new Isengard was mixed with old Helix for you on the local disk.
./bootstrap or even "git clone" it clean from the scratch and recompile. xrandr is not the part of Kodi anymore.

It contains
--enable-sdl (was throwing error on previous attems too)
--enable-xrandr

which is somehow confusing for me.

Doing a fresh git clone of kodi/helix .. bootstrapping currently without any errors so far

PS: Using this to check out: git clone -b Helix --single-branch https://github.com/Owersun/xbmc.git

The post is still valid for Helix branch you are checking out. The --enable-sdl and --enable-xrandr options was made obsolete for Isengard branch which is a default now.
So something went wrong for you for sure, you had the Isengard branch, but Helix files here and there.

Still the same problem with the prebuild 14.2 from march this year?...

I have no idea where this coming from, especially with the fact that the searching through the video works absolutely fine and you can go back 10 seconds for example and it is fine.
Is it really that crucial for usage? The skip back?

for me it is, 90% of my videos have subtitles and if I miss something or want to re-read it skipping back is crucial. is there another hotkey for going back 10 seconds? currently i am using arrow-keys(-30sec) which is causing the "hangup"

PS: Is isengard stable for odroid? If isengard had resolved the issue I won't really borther.

In the new kodi 15 you can set for how much you are going to skip with the press back. I didn't test it though.

Helix 14.2 has the function already. (http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Modify_time_seeking)

Shift + # (german keyboard) is doing a 7seconds skip back which is working fine .. where is the difference between -30second and -7second?

Still .. . pressing it several times will still result in some kind of hangup

That's the thing, there is no difference for the code specific for Odroids. It's just a sequence of frames coming in and sequence of frames coming out. No idea why this hangup happens.

I had some further look into Kodi 14.2 and the stuttering issue sometimes even occurs if I pause/unpause the video.

Now I will try to build 15.0 Isengard again .. and if the problem persists going back to 13.2 might be the only option.

Edit: Isengard 15.0 .. all the same ..

The pause/unpause crash is a nonsense, this is something specific to your deployment.
For step back I've implemented the soft-reset that kodi is waiting for to resync the data, but last time I tried that it didn't work reliably for all videos. Right now I tested it at one I have, works good enough, pull and try.

Isengard requires libcec in version 3.0 or higher.. most linux distributions only offer CEC 2.0 right now.. so you have to compile 3.0.x by yourself, although it's not guaranteed to work with it.

Hi,
Thanks for the source and great tutorial.
I have easily built Isengard without errors on clean/updated 14.04.02 image and I have almost no experience about buiding from source.

Can someone help me to create a working .deb file at the end of the process? I have tried "checkinstall", but had some errors during process and created .deb didn't work. (I need the deb file to update the Kodi in Max2play.)

do a "make install" first... then do checkinstall...
checkinstall does not work if the required paths do not exist yet on the image.

that's up to you.. normally you should add dependencies if you know them :)

I did a "make clean" and "make -j8" and "make install" again; but I get this:
Copying system files to /usr/share/kodi
/bin/bash: gtk-update-icon-cache: command not found

Is this normal, should I ignore or something is missing?

You can ignore this, this is a command to update a cache of icons for X11 GTK environment. The only consequence could be if by a small chance you are using GTK window manager in X11 your kodi icon is displayed from the previous version.

Thanks for the help,
I have tried "apt-get install libgtk2.0-bin" and that solved the errors even though it's unnecessary.

But during checkinstall I'm getting bunch of these errors:
...Copying files to the temporary directory...tar: (Simple): Cannot stat: No such file or directory
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
tar: (Traditional): Cannot stat: No such file or directory
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
...

At the end it builds the deb, I will try it, but yesterday it didn't work.

the errors can be ignored.. it's an issue with the way checkinstall is trying to parse the file names.. for some files they include spaces and other unusual chracters:
for example:
Chinese (Simple)
Chinese (Traditional)
So it tries to find a file called "Chinese" and another that's called "(Simple)" that fails but can be ignored.. in the end it will have all files.. since it uses multiple paths to find file names.

Thanks, I will check if the deb file is working in Max2Play.
BTW:I think Max2play image should have all the dependencies already. Maybe a plain checkinstall is enough for that use, will see.

it didn't work. I know this can be related to Max2play but I'm not sure of my deb file. All xbmc.deb files from odroid worked and upgraded well in Max2play before.
Max2play accepts the link of my deb file, downloads and unpacks.
After a while I get a few "processing triggers for..." messages the last one is "processing triggers for hicolor-icon-theme" then it starts to download the file again, now we are in a loop...

My deb file is working, Max2Play needed a Beta update to accept Isengard. I didn't tested throughly, but it started and it's some big step for me.

Isengard removed the fast_memcpy custom function with the normal memcpy.
In my XU code I still have calls to fast_memcpy and replacing that to memcpy looks to me (just eyeballing) slower than the old fast_memcpy (fastmemcpy_arm.S).
I was just wandering if anyone did a comparison between the 2 functions.

Edit - the function is used in the Linux renderer code too.
Edit2 - the commit in isengard states that memcpy is faster, but not sure that is true for arm...

Hi,
I'm running Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS here. I successfully compiled both kodi and xf86-video-armsoc as I followed the guide of the post here. But still cannot run kodi because of following error:

can you post the output of "ldd /usr/lib/kodi/kodi.bin"?
Are you using X11 or fbdev drivers?
What image are you using? (link to the image would be best)

I attached 2 files to answer your question. How do I know which driver I'm using. According Xorg.0.log I think its X11, am I right?
What image are you using? (link to the image would be best)
I'm not sure since its a long time ago, I think I used this one:

hmm I think that's the broken sym-link issue again, HardKernel haven't fixed their images i guess..

Can you check on:

if that gives not any result try the following:

nm -D /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/mali-egl/libGLESv2.so | grep eglGetDisplay


if the later works do the following:

ln -sf /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/mali-egl/libGLESv2.so /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv2.so


you should also check on /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libGLESv1_CM.so and /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libEGL.so if they point towards mali-egl or mesa-egl..

Now I'm thinking about reinstalling Ubuntu with newer version 15.04 since 15.04 with Mate the desktop seems smoother than 14.04 with lubuntu. Maybe there I have better luck.

yeah nm -D /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/mali-egl/libGLESv2.so was actually not the best of ideas from me since i think they now use a minimal binary that loads libMali.so earlier it was a symlink to libmali.so
but since it's now a real binary it has "symbols" as well.. so you actually need to check nm -D /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/mali-egl/libmali.so instead.

is NOT ok.. it's loading mesa binaries.. they won't work on ODROID devices.. change the link to the mali-egl and it will work.
Make sure libGLESv2 libGLESv1 and libEGL point to mali-egl!

Hello
I compiled the kodi 15.2 very well. Every thing works nice on my U3. However when ik try to connect the libery to the MySQL database it was unable to connect. Conform the kodi.log. it say's it was not compiled.
So i enable-mysql in the build script. However there is still no mysql compiled. (I nottisted that my audio (enable-pulse) responed well to the compiler). Do you have any Idee what is wrong?

I am building owersuns repo, the odroid XU4 boots up and shows splash screen but then a blinking cursor, and nothing happens. I built kodi isengard with x11 and mali drivers, but could not build xf86-video-armsoc. I am not sure how to proceed. Please help.

Are there any additional steps or changes to build Jarvis? I have cloned Jarvis branch and am getting configure errors (libdcadec, crossguid, libshairplay...)

you missing the libraries for this. Jarvis has new dependencies.

I took the sources from Deb Multimedia which already has official packages for them:
libcrossguid and libdcadec. Packages are in my repository for quite a while already.
Kodi Jarvis runs fine so far, but I'm doing a couple more tests, especially with the addons, before I upload Kodi Jarvis.

I have somehow managed to build Jarvis; I won't share all the steps, because there was so much trial and error. I don't want to confuse people searching around.
For the libshairplay I have compiled this from source and that solved the problems for sure: https://github.com/juhovh/shairplay
Jarvis is working well so far. I'm not sure that airplay is working, needs more testing.
Will you share a tested Kodi 16 deb file? Because I couldn't find any deb files on your repo.

My Jarvis deb is working well; I'm using it for 2 days. All my addons and settings are ok.
I will test and report your deb on Max2play image.
Edit: Max2play(14.4 ubutu) on U3 could not start your kodi-addons-odroid_16.0-2+deb8_armhf.deb
Edit2: kodi-odroid_16.0-1+deb8_armhf.deb is installed and it's not starting, either. Is it too late to ask if it's compatible with U3? :)
If it helps, I got this error message with 16.0-1: "/usr/local/lib/kodi/kodi.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.62: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
