When the bluetooth device will be ready?

Thanks.

When I try to use the 1-click GApps installer I get a message telling me I don't have root. Similarly, Superuser tells me it's running into an issue commonly caused by an improperly rooted device. Is there a simple, dumb step I'm missing during the upgrade process?

If someone can get the "LeanBack" (Android TV) launcher working on this, I'll scoop one up in a heartbeat!! I was intending on doing something akin to that with my U2 when I got it a while ago but I never found anything that I liked, I now have XBMC running on a Zotac Zbox Pico that runs Windows 8.1 but it gets hot as hell and Kodi/XBMC keeps crashing a lot due to some Visual Basic error. I've looked at various other Android Media PCs but nothing had everything I wanted (Nexus Player has Android TV but only 8 GB storage and no Ethernet, other devices have what I want except for Android TV and are underpowered, etc...), I wanted to get the XU when it first came out because I'm a gadget freak but couldn't bring myself to spend the money on it when the U2 sat unused most of the time. I got the Pico for Christmas instead of the XU3 because I wanted to run Wii/GameCube/older system emulators on it and they worked a lot better in Windows than Linux, but the stupid thing wasn't powerful enough to emulate Gamecube games so I ended up buying a Wii and softmodding it.

I've got it working on the 02082015 version. I toggled root access off and back on before running the GApps installer this time and it's running very well. SuperSU installed flawlessly and updated the binary with no problems this time around.

Nice work!
Installed this yesterday. I get Google voice search for play store force closes (anyone else?), but other than that works great.

It even fixed my WiFi problems I had with 4.4.4. When I started download it started good, but then dropped to zero and "file could not be downloaded" error.
I thought that it was my router, but with this image it works flawlessly!

Thanks
1) Open your odroid.
2) Go to this very same topic with browser.
3) Select URL for updater and copy to clipboard
4) Open Odroid updater app, press check updates
5) Erase Odroid updater url and paste this URL that you have on clipboard. Ends in update.zip. -> Download and install. (Format userdata checked)
6) Profit!!1

Hey voodik,
first off all thank you again for all your hard work. I just installed your rom on my xu3lite.

I tested bluetooth, wifi, 3g and gps. All of them are working except bluetooth. The first start it was working without any problems, but after the next restart it doesn't work anymore and bluetooth share is every 30 seconds force closing.

Got a partly logcat:
http://pastebin.com/LveYUAyU

Seems that he can't find "/etc/bluetooth/bt_vendor.conf", which isn't in that folder. Just wonder why it was working at first.

EDIT:
Tried another bluetooth dongle and changed the ueventd.odroidxu3.rc to my new bluetooth dongle at its working so far. About to test some apps and maybe tomorrow navigation in car.

Hi, Voodik,

I am also running your cm12 on my Xu3lite and I am completely unable to get any kind of network to run.
as you wrote in your first post ,ehternet support is working (- On board Ethernet and external USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet support) , but i cannot find any way to enable it. is it possible, that Xu3 and Xu3 lite using different Eth-controller,or did i miss something important? ive also tested with one of the wlan sticks that should work with no effect.
Does it make a difference from which Android i upgraded? I Upgraded from Official 4.4 alpha 1.4 to cm12....
Oh, by the way, i am runnig from sdcard, so you can now change to "Sdcard boot support working" ;)

Regards, Martin

Hi nogareth,
Just tested now, onboard ethernet is working (i don't have a USB Gigabit adapter). Cyanogenmod does not support manual ethernet configuration you can obtain ip address only via DHCP. And for now CM-12 is not showing any connection icon when ethernet is connected. You can check in logs when your ethernet is bring up. Or via netcfg command in adb.

Code: Select all

130|root@odroidxu3:/ # netcfg
ip6tnl0 DOWN 0.0.0.0/0 0x00000080 00:00:00:00:00:00
lo UP 127.0.0.1/8 0x00000049 00:00:00:00:00:00
sit0 DOWN 0.0.0.0/0 0x00000080 00:00:00:00:00:00

For me onboard ethernet was also working. I think I just had to activate via the settings menue the first time, but not quite sure with that.

Ok, Thanks I'll Check that.
Maybe I'll go on and install busybox and some terminal Emulator First.
What Made me Think it's Not Working was that i did Not see any led activity on my ethernet port at all.

You don't need to install busybox, you can enable root access from development options.

Nope. There is no difference between XU3 and XU3-Lite except for the Energy Sensor & the maximum CPU clock.

Yes, you can update offline.
Just place update.zip directly in mount location of sdcard0 (i Think it was/storage/sdcard0 on android 4.4), and you should be able to update.

Unfortunately your kernel is not updated and without USB-UART we can't debug this issue. (Maybe reason is the sdcard or something else).

Yes you can update without network access.
Delete all update* (files and folder) from sdcard.
download update.zip and update.zip.md5sum from http://oph.mdrjr.net/voodik/5422/ODROID ... _02.22.15/
copy this files to root of your sdcard.
Open updater click validate>extract>restart for update
wait about 10 minutes and don't power off or reboot device.

Try to update one more time. If after update in dmesg log you see messages like this

Code: Select all

<3>[ 12.697190] [c7] smsc95xx: version magic '3.10.9-g3699f59 SMP preempt mod_unload ARMv7 p2v8 ' should be '3.10.9-04004-g45fc3d7 SMP preempt mod_unload ARMv7 p2v8 '
<3>[ 12.727733] [c6] stk1160: version magic '3.10.9-g3699f59 SMP preempt mod_unload ARMv7 p2v8 ' should be '3.10.9-04004-g45fc3d7 SMP preempt mod_unload ARMv7 p2v8 '
Then your kernel still not updated :(

i am not really experienced of how Android works in a nutshell, but If the kernel is included inside update.zip and can be written to sdcard without further modifications ,
you could use this instructions here for more info: http://odroid.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id= ... ng_android .

then take a look at the sdcard- layout here: http://odroid.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id= ... tion_table ,
do some maths to get the needed value for "seek=XXX" (or use table ; should be 1263 according to table) , and then use dd from any linux "dd if=NEWKERNELFILE of=/dev/YOURSDCARD bs=512 seek=BEGIN_KERNEL-LOCATION-FROM-LAYOUT"

I would try myself, but unfortunately i am not at home for a while...

I think writing kernel via fastboot is a better way.
Setup adb access to your odroid.
e.g
http://bernaerts.dyndns.org/linux/74-ub ... boot-qtadb
(Install Minimal Package)

Enable Android Debugging (from odroid development options).
After that run

Code: Select all

adb devices
command. If your odroid is listed in adb device list
run

Code: Select all

adb reboot fastboot
Board restarts to fastboot mode.
you can check is your device in fastboot mode bu running

Code: Select all

fastboot devices
If you see device e.g "Android 1.0" in fastboot list.
Extract zimage-dtb from update.zip
run command for kernel write

Code: Select all

fastboot flash kernel path/to/your/zImage-dtb
After write complete, power OFF/ON odroid

I manually flashed the new kernel from update.zip with adb + fastboot ---> ethernet now working, lsmod is populated ,and "modprobe 8192cu" enables my wlan stick.
now i can start toying around!

I Really Doubt that it will work on an c1. Every different piece of hardware needs ist very own driver, and as far as i know, the c1 is completely different from xu3(lite).

Think you can post a .IMG with the updated kernel. I can't seem to get my fastboot to work.

@mavpts

I am sorry , if i hadnt wiped everything already i would've uploaded the image. but i've encountered many problems that made it useless to me ,so i got back to ubuntu for now.

Issues were: -ethernet slow as hell. got about 250kb/s max, while having a 100Mbit connection ;) .
-Nonstop random "XXX has stopped working" app-crashes after installing GAPPS.
-Factory reset did not do anything anymore -> After f.reset everything was like before , even installed playstore apps were still there.
-updating the complete system with odroid updater online again (trying to remove GAPPS) and checking "wipe data" also did not reset/change anything.
....also i could not figure out how to setup a Wlan connection in android what is essential for using it in my living room. (Wlan0 and Wlan1 device available after plugging 8192 stick in and doing "modprobe 8192cu" but no clue which config files to edit for bringing it up)

so i think running cm12 from sdcard is no useful option for me at the moment.

regards, Martin

Very strange issues with your Odroid.
Today i tried CM-12.0 with sdcard, i used SD-Card which i received with my Odroid-C1 (http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products ... 1748836437).
For first i removed all partitions from sdcard (via diskpart windows utility).
With this http://dn.odroid.com/DiskImager_ODROID/ ... d-v1.3.zip iflashed sdcard image to microsd
http://dn.odroid.com/5422/ODROID-XU3/An ... 13.img.zip
In next step i changed my odroid boot to sd inserted microsd and remove my emmc.
First boot took some time, 5-10 minutes. When odroid boots to Android 4.4.4 i pushed CM-12.0 update.zip and update.zip.md5sum to /sdcard/.
After that i opened Odroid Updater> Validate> Extract> check format userdata> restart for update.
All images writes successfully (system, kernel and userdata is cleared).

Boted to CM-12.0.
I dont't get any issue or FC. I installed gapps, antutu and make Benchmark test. Good results from benchmark.
Screenshot_2015-03-11-00-00-22.png

Finally i can confirm sdcard boot is working fine.

Seems i should give it another try. I started updating from 4.4 alpha 1.4 not 1.6 .
maybe this and my x-times before partially re-flashed sdcard made the trouble.

Anyways, @ voodik, can you give me some advice what's needed to be done to bring up my Wi-Fi stick?

Thanks in Advance.
