After update Oct/14/2016 Android 4.4.4 (v4.2) wifi problem

Unread post by odrouser » Thu Oct 27, 2016 11:30 pm

Before the latest update Android 4.4.4 (v4.2) wifi (Tplink TL-WN7200ND - RT3070 - 148f:3070) was working, after update it is no longer works.
Tried adding wlan.modname=rt2800usb to build.prop, makes no difference. Very annoying when something stops working after update (a lot of wasted time and hatred against hardkernel).

Restored from backup to an older version (v4.0), and now wifi works. Looks like the latest official update is messed up. I do not recommend to update.

We've tested below wifi chipsets before releasing Android update.
Wifi module 5: Realtek RTL8812AU(0BDA:8812)
Wifi module 4: Ralink RT5572 (148F:5572)
Wifi module 3: Realtek RTL8188CUS (0BDA:8176)
Wifi module 1/0: Ralink RT5370 (148F:5370)

Did you edit build.prop file in v4.0 image for your WiFi chipset?

Same here. WiFi permanently switched off. Can't switch it on.

4.1 worked fine.

Chipset RT5572 (148F:5572)
No editing done on boot.ini
Fresh image (android-4.4.4-alpha-4.2-emmc_installer-odroidxu3-20161014.img) to emmc.

@odroid: could you please advise?

Thanks!

After update Oct/14/2016 Android 4.4.4 (v4.2) wifi problem

Unread post by fl0wtec » Wed Dec 14, 2016 8:23 pm

After some digging I found the folder

Code: Select all

/system/lib/modules/backports
empty.

According to wifi_id_list.txt there should be the *.ko files (Drivers) for the wifi modules.

Tried copying the rt2800usb.ko from an c2 (Lollipop 5.1.1 image v2.7), didn't work.

Any suggestions, am I on the right track?

Is the rt2800usb.ko of the c2 different to the xu4 one?

C2 uses 64bit Kernel and it is not compatible with XU4.

We will try the WiFi module 4 on v4.2 image.

Edit: We could reproduce the issue.
Our build server seems to be wrongly configured.
We will release a new update early next week.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

@Odroid

Did the update.

Had to reinstall GAPPS due to crashing of google play services. That fixed it.

Wifi is up and running again.

Thanks guys!
