Voodik I did it!
As my Armenian temper wouldn't let me to wait for 20 days to receive the reader from Amazon you mentioned I just purchased 2 different card readers and 2 SD cards
Also I purchased a better power supply which can provide up to 6A. So everything worked like a charm. I'm happy as a kid with a Kinder Surprise candy
Everything runs flawlessly. Thank you!

Re: LineageOS-14.1 Android 7.1.1 Nougat for ODROID-XU3/XU4
Hello! I'm officially seeking help for the updater. I have pulled the unit out of the car and reflashed SD to EMMC and still cannot update from the updater. I have tried wifi and ethernet. When I click "get the latest file version nothing happens. I have downloaded the MD5 and update.zip many times and placed in the root of the EMMC card with the 10gb free space and then the updater will allow me to "Verify" but it always fails to match. I have pasted https://oph.mdrjr.net/voodik/5422/ODROI ... update.zip
Into the updater and still nothing. I am unable to update my Odroid no matter what I do. I will have to reflash with etcher everytime just to update? I am running 14.1-20170703

@fender90 -congratulations on your success.
Any chance you can try different selection of card/reader and PSU to identify which one is the problem?
it would be very helpful to me and some others here it seems to confirm which part is causing the problem.
I planned to do a load of work on my project over xmas but as I cannot even get display I am stuck and frustrated.
I have other card readers at my office but not chance to get other odroid components until the new year.
thanks.

Sure. I will constantly try to flash the image using different SD cards and readers. So far I can tell the following
Mostly/Completely not working
Most microSD to SD adapters do not work. A simple SanDisk microsd to usb adapter (not reader) didn't work as well.
Confirmed to work
Sd reader Transcend TS-RDF5K widh SanDIsk 8gb class 10 card
MSI star reader SD reader

thanks @fender90 - I do not understand why micro sd adapter does not work, it is only pin to pin adapter.
Also Etcher verifies image after burning so how can this fail?
I have Transcend (or similar) direct usb adapter in my office so will try this when I can get there, but is one hours away so not easy over xmas break

I remember having a problem when creating a live Linux usb stick. In that case the problem was that I was connecting a usb 2 device to usb 3. I tested the vice versa as well and the problem still occured. So only after connecting the usb2 device to usb2 port the problem was gone. THe same was with usb3 stick and usb3 port.gruf wrote:thanks @fender90 - I do not understand why micro sd adapter does not work, it is only pin to pin adapter.

Sometimes there are some illogical hardware problems that no one can expect

Thanks mad-murdock, I will see for a cheap router because trying for days with command line !mad-murdock wrote:You can do it manually by invoking command line tools like ip, ifconfig, route and the like. Once you figured out your solution, you can automate it via shell script.juanitomaille wrote:Hi, I need to do the same, any solution since 2016 ?TedJack wrote:I'd like to connect 2 Odroid-XU4 boards running on Android to internet with the following configuration:
Wifi Dongle --> Odroid-XU4 (board 1) --> Ethernet Cable --> Odroid-XU4 (board 2)
But the point is when I connect my Wifi dongle on board 1, Ethernet gets disabled and vice versa.
It seems like Android cannot manage Wifi and Ethernet at the same time.
I've read several pages after the post of TedJack but I didn't see a solution. ( i have to admit I ve just scrolled the 20 pages, no conscientiously reading,)
thks
If you are not feeling familar with unix shell and those pesky commands I suggest buying a cheap router or access point which has WiFi and at least 2 Network Ports - better more - and configure it as a client. See it as an external network card instead of a router/ap.

Please post other GPS modules USB VID/PID to separate them from other serial devices in future versions.
Anyway, it doesn't work well : the GPS module jump to /dev/ttyACM1 instead of ACM0 and I do nothing for that no reboot, no unplug. obviously GPS stop working in apps.

Hello,
I just noticed that the developper setting "root access" setting is not having effects on the adb network interface
I switched it to "disabled" and rebooted. I can check that in any terminal app, whoami returns non-root user.
Now I enable the network adb and connect if from PC
adb connect 192.168.1.digits
adb shell
whoami
and this time i'm getting "root"
Regards,
Mathieu

I just got a gamepad - Ipega 9076 ....but it seems it is not working. Anyone have any experience with any gamepads ? I am not able to connect it via the ipega 2.4Mhz usb dongle.
Maybe bluetooth will work if I get a bluetooth dongle ?

I've used some xbox controllers and they worked well.
Nintendo wii controllers also worked with our Bluetooth dongle.
But I have no experience with Ipega things.

Hello, one suggestion and one question
1.) It would be nice if it is possible to set a GPS Fake Location in the ODROID Utility, so no additional app is needed. This is useful to get the current location in apps like Google Maps. Because I am (and maybe most of us) using the ODROID only in a fixed location.
2.) I dont know how to explain it in detail - Is it possible to have something like a fake wifi connection (that uses the real ethernet connection) to bypass problems with apps complaining about no wifi or 3g? My ODROID is only connected via ethernet and some apps are not working without a wifi connection.

It would be beneficial to report the applications that are not working to the developers and seek a resolution there as well.Nellor wrote:Hello, one suggestion and one question

Re: LineageOS-14.1 Android 7.1.1 Nougat for ODROID-XU3/XU4
okay - I have more success with using SD card.
previous 16GB card that did not owrk was only Class 4 (4MB/s)
new card that does work is 32GB UHS class 3 (30MB/s)
have tried SD card adapters and USB direct readers, consistent results with all so the adapter/usb reader is not the problem.
i dont this think 16GB/32GB size matters, so I guess the card speed must be important possibly due to some timing issue during initial setup.
I do still have a problem with bluetooth though.
I am using the Odroid Bluetooth Module 2 from odroid.co.uk - this is not being recognised
Should this work? or can somebody direct me to a supported/known wqorking bluetooth dongle please
Thanks again @Voodik for your work.

Hey @voodik - thanks a lot for the new-year-update. 7.1.2 on my TV - not bad (:
I wonder what your plans about Android 8.1 / Lineage 15.1 are?
I mean, for me on a TV I prefer stability over latest version - still, when is the time for 8.1 test builds?

Really? I use ethernet only - not even a wifi module installed - and have no problems at all. Can you name some examples of apps not working?Nellor wrote: 2.) I dont know how to explain it in detail - Is it possible to have something like a fake wifi connection (that uses the real ethernet connection) to bypass problems with apps complaining about no wifi or 3g? Is it possible you try to update from an old version like 0.9 or older? If so, I wrote a post how I fixed the issue without formatting.waexplorerjr wrote:Hello! I'm officially seeking help for the updater. I have pulled the unit out of the car and reflashed SD to EMMC and still cannot update from the updater. I have tried wifi and ethernet.

@voodik, can the update app be used to flash zips other than updates? I'm wanting to install Dolby Atmos for a TV not hooked up to a surround system plus I like the equalizer.

Re: LineageOS-14.1 Android 7.1.1 Nougat for ODROID-XU3/XU4
Is there a way I can use my Android phone to provide internet connection to Odroid XU4 using USB tethering? I've tried a couple of times with no results. My wifi adapter is still in transit so I have to find some workarounds. Might it work if I use a usb to LAN adapter and connect my Android phone to Ethernet port and use USB tethering on my smartphone?

Maybe resolved in Lineage 15.0 ?

Re: LineageOS-14.1 Android 7.1.1 Nougat for ODROID-XU3/XU4
Since upgrading to latest version 1.4 I got a new issue:
- My XU4 is connected to TV.
- I use it often to watch twitch with the official twitch app.
- Turning off my TV I tend to let the app run due to laziness.
What is new is, when I return the next day to my TV, most of the time the playback is frozen. I cannot play any other channels until I reboot the device.
Anyone else having something similar? I try to grep some logs next time it happens.

I have a bluetooth dongle with the ipega... whatever; the one that slides for phone and tablet; and it works. I can pair it.rosz wrote:I just got a gamepad - Ipega 9076 ....but it seems it is not working. Anyone have any experience with any gamepads ? Maybe bluetooth will work if I get a bluetooth dongle ?

Also updated to latest lineage sources I assume? I don't need any of the above features, but being on newer code revision is always a good thing.voodik wrote:Update available.
