@voodik: Very nice work !!

I have a problem regarding the usage of an USB-GPS on Lineage-OS. I can communicate with by "cat /dev/ttyUSB0", so driver is working, but the system do not get any position data. Aps like GPStest also do not get anything.

From "logcat | grep gps" i know that the GNSS service do not find /dev/ttyUSB0..

What can i do to get this running?
By the way: Should the gps-driver also work with the ttySAC0 UART?

Thanks and regards

Hi,

1. Please enable root, setup adb over network or enable/install some terminal app.
2. Disconnect all USB devices, make clean boot, run lsusb command on terminal/adb shell and save result,
3. Connect your USB hub and run, lsusb, dmesg, logcat commands and save results.
4. Post somewhere results and let me know.
Thanks voodik, will try to get it uploaded soon.
Got adb over ethernet sorted and can run the first lsusb, but the moment I plug the hub in, the connection is terminated and the green ethernet light turns on and starts blinking. Any idea why it's disconnecting?

You need edit /system/build.prop and set proper tty node and speed
change this lines
Code: Select all
ro.kernel.android.gps=ttyACM0
ro.kernel.android.gps.speed=9600

@qxtgo

So if you need Gaapps,
please create "opengapps.xml" file in ".repo/local_manifests" folther with this content
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<manifest>
<remote name="opengapps" fetch="https://github.com/opengapps/"  />

<project path="vendor/opengapps/build" name="aosp_build" revision="master" remote="opengapps" />
<project path="vendor/opengapps/sources/all" name="all" clone-depth="1" revision="master" remote="opengapps" />
<project path="vendor/opengapps/sources/arm" name="arm" clone-depth="1" revision="master" remote="opengapps" />
</manifest>

and run repo sync again.

if you don't need Gapps,
remove device/hardkerne;/odroidxu3/opengapps.mk file
and comment/remove this

@voodik

Hi,
1. first build, successful, but after applying the update.zip to the device with your last build it stucks after booting in a loop, see below...
Am I missing something?

2. When building with opengapps and an install from the resulting image, it booted but stuck at a point within the setup wizard where it asked for inserting a sim card.

Do I really get your build which generates the images you deliver when I do a repo sync or force-sync?
Something must be wrong anywhere....

Should I drop everything and do a clean start with repo init -u git://github.com/voodik/android.git -b cm-14.1_5422 ?

Hi voodik,
Thanks, but I can't install this update. Odroid updater crashes when extracting. All md5 files are ok and I tried with a clean flash of the rom first, but still can't update.
Any ideas?

Thanks, but I can't install this update. Odroid updater crashes when extracting. All md5 files are ok and I tried with a clean flash of the rom first, but still can't update.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Hi,
1. first build, successful, but after applying the update.zip to the device with your last build it stucks after booting in a loop, see below...

Should I drop everything and do a clean start with repo init -u git://github.com/voodik/android.git -b cm-14.1_5422 ?

perhaps we find out what's going wrong.

Im running the Alpha-0.9 build on an xu4 as a car headunit. Rom is working fine but I'm having trouble getting it to work with my powered usb3 hub (Orico H10C1-U3).

I'm getting a string of "UsbHostManager JNI: usb_device_open failed" errors (log attached from a previous install with the same errors) and getting strange behaviour from the usb devices attached (phantom button presses on the usb touch screen, usb gps not being recognised etc).

Sometimes a couple of restarts will get the gps working but it will fail again next restart. Tested it with all combinations of usb devices with no improvement. Tried a clean install but error persists.

I am now using a cheap non-powered 4 port usb 2 hub attached to the same xu4 usb 3 port and everything is fine, so it's not a problem with the peripherals themselves. Is there anything I can try to get the hub working, or is it simply not compatible with the xu4?

Cheers

Hi,

Cheers

Awesome, that worked and it seems to have (mostly) fixed the issue! Thanks! What did you change?

I'm still having one related problem though, in that the odroid gps module sometimes won't be recognised by apps (google maps, GPS test etc) when plugged into the hub. After a few restarts it will randomly be recognised again and work fine.

Running Cat /dev/ttyACM0 in terminal when it's down still shows nmea data being read so the module itself is working but it's not being registered by apps for some reason.

Hi all. I am thinking of getting new sd card and using it for android on my XU4. It's not a very complicated set build: just the board, a case and PSU. Are there any stability issues with LineageOS and the XU4? What about play store compatibility for movies and video? The reason I ask is that I had LineageOS on my Nexus 7 2013 for a bit but had to remove it because I couldn't watch movies from some apps and the tablet kept locking up and then rebooting.

Thanks,

You posted everything but not logcat output ;)
BTW
Your build has no problem, i successfully installed it , you just need select "Format userdata" when updating from lineage-14.1-alpha-1.0 version.
Also i suggest you run "repo sync --force-sync"
then again build android.
I fixed some issues in according OdroidUpdater and setupwizard.

P.S.
Now i merging whole tree with latest sources. so if you not sleeping please wait 4-5 hours before run repo sync

Success :D

did several test builds and checked them on my testdevice.
finally I updated my headunit controller, worked w/o "Format userdata"

changed some properties and settings, boot time now ~20 sec instead of ~50 sec
enabled the CONFIG_USB_SERIAL_CH341=m, but I have to load the kernel module manually before use. Have to discover where to change this..

hope all the changes ( primary the build.prop and default.prob) are correct, but everything works as expected.

changes summary:

next steps would be
-i2s connection to my monkeyboard, asked hk in annother post, hope this advances.
-sleep(suspend to disk) mode as I asked in any former post.
-find out where to set the initial 1024x600 from my VU7+ for a fresh install so the buttons of the setup wizard do not appear off screen, cause at this time a boot.ini doesnt yet exist.

Hi lazlo,

I use it as headunit controller in my car with Navigation, DAB/FM, Audio Player, VU7+ as Display.
A second Testdevice also works with TV and Keyboard/Mouse, wireless and wired.
Playstore and all my Apps work as expected stable.
Videos and Movies also.
WLan ist a problem, I have issues, even with the original HC Wlan Adapters. It often doesn't auto connect to my stored wlans, sometimes it drops the connection.
Also only a limited number of chipsets are enabled.

But I think you should use emmc instead of a sd-card...

Just give it a try.

Hi Voodik,

Is it possible to move all partitions from a sd-card to an usb-stick leaving only the boot partition on the sd-card?
My sd-card is a bit to slow and buying an emmc module is at the moment no option for me...

How can I autostart custom bash scripts? Is init.d working?
Under odroids android 4.4.4 it was possible, but an additional app (Universal init.d) had to be installed.

For anyone interested, Hulu video playback does work correctly as of LineageOS version 14.1-20170611-UNOFFICIAL-odroidxu3 as long as the Hulu app version is < 3.0. I have Hulu version 2.28.0.223111 installed, and it has been working great.

Looks great, runs fast, but...

I have an issue with audio.

Sound stops completely after a few hours of uptime.
nothing is muted, and no switching of volumes, or controls in any app can bring it back up.
Only a reboot brings audio back on.

I've tried output over HDMI audio to my monitor with speakers, to an HDTV with speakers, with the USB sound card sold as an accessory to the XU4, and even my Fiio E07K USB DAC.
All end the same way, sound gets completely muted, or the sound back-end crashes?

Really hope to fix this, as this has been the most satisfying performance I've got out of the XU4 yet!

Any help is much appreciated!

Lasermole.

Hello! I've just crossed over from using a RPi3 in my car to the XU4 with android.
Everything seems to be working fine with your release except USB flash drives are not showing up in PowerAmp, Neutron and other music programs.

However the USB mounted drives show up fine in File Manager software and shows as a USB drive in Android. I can play file per file if I click each one from within File manager programs but it doesn't show up in any music programs?
Tried USB drives formatted in FAT32 and NTFS and in each of the USB ports (3.0 and 2.0)

The Android 4.4.4 release works fine with this, I thought maybe it was a Android 7 thing, but my Samsung S7 Edge reads USB drives fine in PowerAmp and other music players.

Suggestions?

Hi Voodik,

Yes shows drives are visible in top left of android. Ex File Explorer shows the drives as USB and I can browse thought it and works fine.
However no other programs show it. PowerAmp/Neutron/USB Audio Player/MXPlayer shows only SD Card, no USB drives.

The otg storage is found in /mnt/media_rw/xxxxxxxxxxx
USB drives are not shown in /storage/emulated/xxxxxx

I did find last night this. A lot of people were complaining via forums and reddit that with CM 13 and LineageOS 14 OTG wasnt working right exactly like I have the issue now.

However they found if you ran "sm set-force-adoptable true" in terminal. the drives then appear. However its seen as a permanent drive in the OS which causes issues when you remove the drive.
You also have to manually then go in a select the storage device as it isnt being seen as USB, but more as a SD card drive?

Interesting your not having this issue.
I originally installed your version -> https://oph.mdrjr.net/voodik/5422/ODROI ... _04.07.17/
Then updated to -> https://oph.mdrjr.net/voodik/5422/ODROI ... _28.09.17/ via the odroid updater program.

I have reloaded your distro again 3 times from scratch to see if it was just a random bug. I am running from a SD Card if that means anything (it shouldn't?)

Hardware is a Odroid Xu4 rev 0.120151201

Hi voodik,
as the build process no works reliable, I am on the next step with my car radio:

Any idea how to enable bluetooth HFP Profile (hope this is the correct function for the problem)?

I want to connect my smartphone via Bluetooth to the odroid and then do calls using this connection (use the Microphone from the USB Audio as hands-free phone system
(hope this is the correct engl. translation)) and hear the caller via the Audio USB Audio and the speakers from the car. Accept/reject incoming calls by a button.

You can search in the forum. i answered for this question a lot of times.
HFP profile not supported because SCO doesn't work via HCI.
HFP can't use a2dp for audio route.

Hi all and thanks for the lovely ROM Voodik.

I have been using the 0.6 version of the ROM since it was released and just decided to update but I have had some difficulty to get to the 10 version and I hope someone will help. My problem is some noobish mistake so thanks for your patience in advance. Sequence in brief so far:

1. Downloaded verified and wrote "android-lineage-14.1-alpha-1.0-sd2emmc_uboot-recovery-odroidxu3-2017-09-25.img" to uSD
2. Booted from uSD then switched to boot from emmc. Got to the beginning of the Lineage boot animation but then it looped back to the beginning blue led sequence.
3. Repeated above steps with same result.
4. Downloaded verified and wrote "android-LineageOS-14.1-alpha-0.9-sd2emmc_installer-odroidxu3-2017-07-04.img".
5. Booted from uSD then switched to emmc - BOOT SUCCESS :D

Looking back, I realise that the 1.0 image was only for the recovery and I think not one compatible with the 0.6 ROM I had.

So now I am a bit unsure how to get to the 1.0 ROM; can I just use Odroid updater directly or do I need to write the uboot-recovery image for 1.0 first?

You must have 8GB RAM at least.
Google recommends even 16GB RAM if you use Linux on a virtual machine.

Hey Voodik,

We're having some problems with the USB3.0 ports while using it for Wifi or a LTE dongle.

The first problem seems that the internal USB3.0 hub flips out after a while:
(Log from serial port:

[21619.738215] [c2] usb 6-1: new SuperSpeed USB device number 76 using xhci-hcd

This repeats continuously)
While this is happening, the network port flips out as well (the ethernet yellow light turns off and on following the messages) and the network doesn't work anymore.
Only a hard reboot will fix this problem.

Also (possibly related, but i haven't been able to get a serial read out during this problem) the WiFi sometimes disconnects after a few minutes.
When you go into the wireless settings, the WiFi network is "saved" and you can reconnect by clicking it, but after a few minutes it disconnects again.
This doesn't happen on every network, but i've seen it happen while tethered to an iPhone and connected to a Fritzbox router.
It also happens with a couple of different dongles (we've tried the Hardkernel modules 0, 3 and 4).

This doesn't happen all the time, but only sometimes (and we've tried on multiple boards, so it's not a malfunctioning chip).

Also, it seems that sometime during the new updates, the usbmodeswitch and LTE functionality has been lost, they are not embedded in the newer versions.
I've found a usbmodeswitch binary that works for me on the XU4, but i'd rather have it built it and perhaps automatically switching from the CDROM mode to the CDC mode.

Any tips? I'm able to compile my own kernel if you want, so i can test it here.

/edit: Didn't see version 1.0 here, trying that one out first.
The missing USBmodeswitch remains though.

There any way to add either the Google or LineageOS dialer and messaging apps? I realize the Odroid doesn't have any native calling or messaging capabilities, but I'm hoping I can intercept with an app like mysms which relays all calls and messages to an actual phone. Is this even an option?

Anybody know if this is compatible with hardkernel's/Voodiks flavor of Android

I'd like to try doing a carputer and the hard kernel vu7plus just barely fits in my dash and has no room for mounting to hold it in place. Otherwise I'd use that since I already own one. 99 4runner.

The missing USBmodeswitch remains though.

The latest version (the one from Google Drive, so the latest one compiled from Github) actually fixes the USB issue.
I've embedded switchtool from the latest PPP widget in the /system/bin directory to be able to switch LTE modems to CDC mode.
I've also written a small script that runs on startup (in init.odroidxu3.rc, after all insmod services finish) and removed all cdc mentions here.

The script detects if a network cable is connected, if it is, it exits. If it isn't, it looks for a compatible dongle and uses switchtool to switch to CDC mode. (It uses the config files in /etc/usb_modeswitch.d/)
It then rmmod's the ethernet driver and insmod's the cdc driver.
This enables us to have the ethernet port always on on bootup, and we don't have to switch ethernet off in build.prop.
If anyone is interested, i can submit the script and init changes here.

I still have to test the WiFi instability with some networks.

I'm pretty sure it's related to regulatory domain issues... I faced that in the past (check this thread)
Unless I'm wrong this distro does not implement CDRA for regulatory domain dynamic changes.

I solved that by recompiling the kernel with adding the db.txt and statically using it :
