In another thread I was told TWRP recovery is not possible on Odroid, so I wonder who do you flash ZIPs, like open_gapps-arm64-7.1-pico-20170709.zip? :?

I would normally reccomend flashfire, but the current root manager doesnt support it.

Many thanks, voodik, for great work and nice, clean Lineage OS for XU4 ;)

Built and installed from SD to EMMC on Odroid XU4, works fine.

The only problem is Bluetooth - it doesn't recognize Orico BTA-402-BK (Bluetooth v.4) dongle and fails when I try to turn on Bluetooth. For the reference, Orico BTA-402-BK has CSR8510 A10 chipset, so not very different from the one that is advertised to work :?

Anyone had success with Bluetooth dongle?

It is the Displax skin multitouch, an older version of the current products they have at displax.com

Hi Voodik, sorry to bother you again..

Did you have any chance to do this yet ?
Is it possible to do myself ? I guess it means downloading the kernel recources, adding this line to a file, build? the kernel, and replace a file on the SD before installing ?

Maybe an idea to make a short instructable for that, or is something like that already available ?

Thanks!

Hey
I use a translator - sorry for weak English.
I installed the alpha 9 version, I do not know how in any browser - in my case chrome can download the picture (for example, some wallpaper) on my phone just hold the finger in the picture and pops the download menu.
On XU4 it does not work - I long press the left mouse button on the image and nothing happens ...
How can without a touch screen download a picture / get the menu usually available when you hold your finger on the screen?

Running on the late June update I lost Odroid Updater and was getting FC's when going to Security in Settings. I did a lot of strange things learning how to get tvheadend -> Kodi working so I got out my spare EMMC card and upgraded it to the latest July update. I did not format anything. The updater was now there but the Security in Settings FC problem persisted.

I then redid the upgrade and formated everything, ticked all boxes. I couldn't get the set-up wizard to work because it would not recognise my ethernet or wifi connection.

So I used the sd2emmc setup and that got me past the network probem, ethernet worked. I told the set-up to install my apps from a recent backup on google. The Security FC was still there. Hmmm, is it an app I have installed?

I re ran the sd2emmc install and said I would start from scratch. I thought I would install my apps one at a time and test the Security in Settings until I found the offending app. However, the Security FC was there on a clean install with no apps added! :o

Is anyone else having this problem?

You could just get a simple Bluetooth controller with 3-5 buttons for home, back, recent etc. Or try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ace.jun.simplecontrol

If you're interested I'll prepare the apk for you.

Hello,

thanks for the great work about android on XU4.
I just bought an alfa AWUS052NH USB wifi adapter (ralink) based.
It's dual band, but it seems that from Android, only the 2.4GHz band can be used. Is there some special config to allow 5.8GHz band ?

as for the Alfa AWUS052NH, I digged a little more : It uses a RT3572 chipset.

In case that helps, I attached the linux drivers pack downloaded from Alfa website. It contains some source code for 35xx chipset (and others)

I kept digging (sorry for the multi posts). 5.8GHz is actually working... but only if I disable the "intelligent band selection" from my router (Synology 2600ac).

When I disable this mode, and set 2 separate SSID names for 2.4 and 5.8GHz then everythig works fine with Alfa AWUS052NH.
I I re-enable the "intelligent mode" then I have only one SSID name and it seems to confuses the driver.

I added a separate guest network with distinc 2.4 and 5.8 SSIDs but they are not seen as long as the intelligent mode is activated on the other SSID's

This can be an issue is somebody uses this mode in your neighbourhood

This is a driver / software issue because when I plug the adapter on my W7 laptop, there is no issue and whatever mode I user, SSID's are seen.

actually, digging even further, the issue seems rather related to wifi country code and channels.

If I enable root and terminal and type
Code: Select all
iw reg get

I have a country 00 setting whatever I choose in Wifi advanced option country code settings

if I try
Code: Select all
su
iw reg set US

this has no effect.

Code: Select all
dmesg | grep CRDA

shows either

Code: Select all
cfg80211: Calling CRDA for country: FR

or

Code: Select all
cfg80211: Calling CRDA to update world regulatroy domain

when I turn Wifi off/on

also it seems that the kernel is using rt2870.bin firmware and all messages related to this kind are from rt2x00lib_request_firmware while chip is rt3572

I'll keep digging (and learning) but any help will be welcome !

Still on this 5GHz channel issues, it seem that the key is the /sys/module/cfg80211/parameters/ieee80211_regdo value. Whatever I try, it stays to 00

On the release notes, I saw "fix for wifi country code" woodik or other gurus, could you please give me hints on how to go forward on this ? I'm not so aware with Android details... on linux, it seems I would just need to pass module options in /etc/modprobe.d conf file, but there is no such thing here.
Is cfg80211 compiled into kernel with fixed options ? or is there a way to pass other options at runtime ?

I tryed

Code: Select all
su
chmod 0660 /sys/module/cfg80211/parameters/ieee80211_regdom
echo "US">/sys/module/cfg80211/parameters/ieee80211_regdom

the content of the file is modifyed and show US instead of 00

I turned Wifi Off/On, and even unplugged/replugged USB adapter.

the value of this file remains to US, but

Code: Select all
iw reg get

keeps displaying

Code: Select all
global
country 00: DFS-UNSET
...

so the cfg80211 parameters is not used, or maybe this module need to be reloaded but I don't know how to do this.

Code: Select all
iw list

shows channel 36 to 48 enabled. 52 to 140 disabled. 149 to 165 enable (20.0 dbm) (no IR). 167 to 173 disabled.
So many disabled channels is why I sometime can see the 5GHz when my AP uses those channels, but most of time can't as the default open channels is a very restrictive list of the allowed ones. As for 2.4GHz channels, all channels are enabled, 12 to 14 with (20.0 dBm) (no IR) message.

I just tryed another dongle adapter (0bda:8176) which is only 2.4GHz and this time, allowed channels are only 1 to 11, so I believe that some stuff may be hardcoded at drivers level....

The usb ids for the dongle I'd like to use is 148f:3572
https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ALFA_Network_AWUS052NH
It seems that there maybe 2 usable drivers for this : rt2800 or rt3572sta, but this one does not seems to be in /lib/modules

Am I supposed to apply the update after doing a fresh install from https://oph.mdrjr.net/voodik/5422/ODROI ... -04.img.xz

I just tryed my ALFA adapter on the same Xu4 but with a Ubuntu 16.04 4.9 kernel image.

The iw reg set command is working and I'm able to have all channels activated fro there.
Also, the default setting is still 00 World regulatory domain, the open 5.8GHz channels are very different than the one openned on the voodik 7.1.2 image. It seems that all channels are opened on Ubuntu version.
after iw reg set US and iw list, the allowed Tx powers are updated (at least in the prints...) from the iw list before setting US regdom

I also checked which driver it would load and it's the same rt2800 + rt2x00 drivers

Still diging... (I fell alone here :-) )

I tried setting another regulatory domain on the AP (Synology 2600ac) the result is that when switch wifi on and off, the
Code: Select all
dmesg|grep CRDA
show :
sometimes
Code: Select all
cfg80211: Calling CRDA to update world regulatory domain

and sometimes
Code: Select all
cfg80211: Calling CRDA for country EU
(or whatever country I set in the AP)

so it seems that the country code that is sometimes (more or less randomly) found in dmesg messages comes from the AP... and oscillate between world regulatory and the country broadcasted by AP.

However, this has no effect at all on available channels on the xu4 side : even if the regulatory domain is said to be US, the iw list always displays the same list of channels.

I've downloaded the repo (but will never be able to put that on an odroid to try compiling... its 47 GB !!!)
I'm not sure to understand everything, but it seems to me that CRDA is not available in that build. Maybe then easier would be to build with CONFIG_CFG80211_INTERNAL_REGDB and use a correct /net/wireless/db.txt
such as https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/ke ... xt?id=HEAD

Voodik, what do you think ?

@imrj,
Did you flash "android-LineageOS-14.1-alpha-0.9-sd_installer-odroidxu3-2017-07-04.img" with Etcher on your SD card?
Did you wait ~10minutes for the self-installation process?
How was the blue LED when you turn your XU4 on?

Just to keep informed, it seems that other lineageos builds have similar issues :

https://jira.lineageos.org/browse/BUGBASH-904

and they may be related to DFS channels being purposely removed from drivers/settings at some point in past as the DFS protocol was not working (my guess is that was a dirty fix...)
As ubuntu 16.04 and kernel 4.9 drivers are working properly, there is some hope I guess...

This maybe more of a general Nougat issue vs this particular build, but this is the only device I've used 7.1 on so I'm still learning it. Have an OBDII to USB adapter for automotive telemetry hooked up. When I start the app to read it (Torque) it asks for permission to use the usb device. Even clicking the default app checkbox it seems to "forget" because every boot I have to check the box again. Pretty sure its an issue with the app, is there a way to disable the usb permission request in the settings?

Re: Crunchyroll Streaming Issue

Unread postby suzerain » Sun Aug 20, 2017 11:26 am

Hey everyone, I'm new to the XU4 and the forum in general so I hope I don't come off as too ignorant :) I have successfully flashed the Lineage OS ROM on my XU4, and have installed all my apps and I have no complaints about voodik's work, the build is pretty incredible imo and I couldn't be happier. Big ups voodik! However I came across this strange quirk. I installed the Crunchyroll app, and I had played two episodes of Umaru and everything was fine. I shutdown the device and the next day booted it back up, ran Crunchyroll and started playing Umaru again, however the app kept spitting out an error. "There was a problem playing the video. Please try again, or contact support if the problem persists.". Now matter how many times I play an episode, it'll display the error. My current work around is too just run the Crunchyroll plugin in Kodi, which works perfectly fine, so problem solved. I'm really just wondering what would cause the error. I don't think it's my wifi adapter, because I can stream through Kodi just fine. I'm not sure if it's some sort of copyright protection, because after my first install it worked just fine, but stopped afterwards. I haven't tried streaming over ethernet yet, so that's my next experiment. I cleared cache and data a few times as well as reinstalling the app all together but no luck there. Maybe it's just a bug with Lineage OS in general? Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks everyone! :D

The first thing is to congratulate this great work
I have a problem with the ROM, I tried with several hard disks and usb memories and in different usb ports I had the same problem, with the application my files that the rom brings if I can access the external hard drives but the problem comes when some Application need access hard disks, such as download managers to change the path of downloads or emulators to tell them where I have the roms can not access and I give them all the necessary permissions but can not access the external hard drive
Any solution, please thanks in advance
regards

I successfully installed after figuring out that 128 GB SD cards are not supported or at least would take eternally long (>2h with Class 10 UHS-1).
Installing on a 16 GB card was fine and quick, and after that I cloned it to my 128 GB card and enlarged the partition with parted without any problem.

Everything is working fine except the Settings-Security FC, that is already known.
Which is pretty important for me. What is the progress on the fix for that, if it's ok to ask?

Dolphin developers dropped the 32bit ARM platform almost two years ago.
So it seems to be very hard to find an old apk can run on XU4.

Hello,

with a little (big) help from Voodik, I've been able to recompile custom Kernel with a few modified options.
I added : CFG80211_CERTIFICATION_ONUS = y
and CFG80211_INTERNAL_REGDB = y

options

as well as downloading an up to date db.txt file to replace the one in net/wireless

after recompiling the kernel, pushing the new modules and flashing the kernel, I have big improvments as regards Wifi regdom selection !

When the Wifi connects to an AP, it automatically reflects the regdom broadcasted by the AP !

Also the command iw reg set US (or whatever country in db.txt) also works ! (but it seems that it gets superseeded by the AP broadcasted regdom when connecting again)

that was just for reporting in case that help fully fixing this regdom stuff in future (I believe the default crda mecanism is missing in current image... to be able to use a dynamic regulatory.bin file without needing a kernel recompile to change the rules)

This is a dirty fix but do produce enhancements from user point of view...

CSR Bluetooth. I plugged in a USB CSR 4.0 Bluetooth module and Bluetooth would not turn on from System Settings. It was greyed out.
So I searched the thread and Odroid said to turn on Bluetooth from Odroid Utilities.
So I did that but Bluetooth still did not turn on from System Settings.
I rebooted and now Bluetooth turns on just fine. Thank you!
