what image are you using ? i tried it now on this two images:

GameStation Turbo Debian: ( i did a kernel update to 4.14 )
http://oph.mdrjr.net/meveric/images/OGST/ODROID-GameStation-Turbo-3.9.5-20171115-XU3+XU4-Jessie.img.xz

and it works, compiling from source with no errors, copy *.pk4 file 1-8 into base folder and bang -> there you go

P.S.: on Gamestation Turbo image ( debian ) i had to install 'libjpeg62-turbo-dev' instead of 'libjpeg-turbo8-dev' ( Ubuntu )

There was also an ubuntu-16.04.3-4.14-mate-odroid-xu4-20171126.img version of that image, November version, maybe you are using this one and that's the problem ?

As I told already, the 20171212 version of that image worked for me :)

I'd like to give a follow-up here because I finally got the game to work properly, the issue was with pk4 files.
Downloading pk4 files from http://files.anitalink.com/gamecache/doom3/base/ will not work, the game have no audio and crash after the bioscan room.
I used the pk4s from my mac copy of the game and it works fine with little audio cracks now and then.

im getting the same thing as soon as the wire spark at the door you need to go through after the bio scan the game crashes
it seems to be a audio problem. i was messing with the sound settings and when i chagned them. i lost all sound, but the same was able to play fine

Yeah I have the same issues and was trying to find the MAC version as well.
If I use gdb to debug the problem I also see that the program freezes with an open libogg process.

I tried the no sound approach, and got past the point where it crashed, saved, fixed sound, loaded the save game and could go on playing, but soon after I encountered another section where it crashed again.

Ok, I was able to fix the issue.
We're actually not the only one with the issue, I found a bug report for another doom3 version that had similar issues as we do: https://github.com/dhewm/dhewm3/issues/104
Turns out the libvorbisfile3 version in Debian Jessie is buggy. The version available is 1.3.4-2 but the bug was only fixed in 1.3.4-3.
I backported libvorbis from Debian Stretch to Debian Jessie and now the problem is gone.
I'm gonna upload the new packages "later" (it's nearly 1am right now for me).

Nice finding Meveric, sometimes it's crazy what's the cause of the problem, I didn't expect that this was audio related because I also debugged it more then a year ago and there was no hint to libogg, on Ubuntu the problem seem's to be gone since 16.04.3 image.

@yadimaii

please disable pulse audio if you have audio cracks here and there, it's an known problem
