Cut down UPS2 PCB

Unread post by geekman92 » Thu May 12, 2016 3:32 am

Hi there,

I'm looking at getting an Odroid (probably the C1+) for a project and want a small UPS/backup battery for when I change between mains power and USB battery pack and to auto shutdown if no external power is connected for X amount of time.

However, I don't have much vertical room and the battery isn't going to be located above the Odroid, I was wondering if I could cut down the PCB just below where the middle mounting holes are? By the looks of the images there aren't any components or traces below the middle mounting holes. I could then de-solder the 8 pin header, solder on 3 wires and have a UPS board about a quarter of the size.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Refer the PCB pattern drawings to check signal path on the UPS3 PCB.

I was actually referring to the to the UPS2 not the UPS3 but your comment prompted me to look for the PCB layout. I had somehow missed the link to it when looking before. (Less haste, more speed perhaps!)

Thanks for your reply
