INFO: task init: 1 blocked for more than 12 seconds

Unread post by olsins » Tue Jul 31, 2018 5:30 pm

Hello,

I am using a Odroid U3. After a normal reboot the thing wont boot anymore. I get the following error messages:

[ 240.506222] INFO: task init: 1 blocked for more than 120 seconds
[ 240.508637] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message
[ 240.513714] INFO: task mmcqd/1:66 blocked for more than 120 seconds
[ 240.522847] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message
[ 240.530781] INFO: task jbd2/mmcblkOp2-:139 blocked for more than 120 seconds
[ 240.537833] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message
[ 240.545747] INFO: task flush-179:0:521 blocked for more than 120 seconds
[ 240.552582] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message
[ 240.560485] INFO: task NetworkManager:694 blocked for more than 120 seconds
[ 240.567340] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message

I am totally lost how to fix this.
Ubuntu 14.04 is installed. Pressing SHIFT while starting does not change anything. Also CTRL-S does not do anything.
Is there anyway to make it boot again. And if not - is there a way to get an ubuntu image so a can move everything to a new System?

I am glad for any help!

Do you use an eMMC? or an SD card?
You might need to connect your eMMC or SD card to a Linux PC and backup important data first.

Thx for the replies. My Odroid is my only Ubuntu based system. Is there a good backup Software I could use when i try Ubuntu on a bootable USB stick? The thing is, that I am not a big Linux expert, but got my odroid running now for 3 years with tons of configurations for a nextcloud server, fhem, and ampache. To get it all running again would take me a lot of time, and I am not 100% sure where all the files are located I made minor changes to. Is there like an easy backup function?

I might should also mention: A couple days ago Ubuntu was giving me this (but still did Boot Up)

du_mmc du_mmc: data timout error
mcblk0: error -110 transferring data, sector 5423448, nr 256, cmd response 0x900, card status 0x200b00
du_mmc du_mmc: data timout error
mcblk0: error -110 transferring data, sector 54234732, nr 12, cmd response 0x900, card status 0x0
end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblko, sector 54234732
du_mmc du_mmc: data timout error
mcblk0: error -110transferring data, sector 54234733, nr 11 cmd response 0x900, card status 0x0
end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblko, sector 54234733

Does this mean my eMMC card is broken? If I do a new install, is there anything i can to to avoid this to happen again? Thx in advance!

have you tied odroid-utility to upgrade the kernel.
From the above message it seem you filesystem could be corrupt so.

Code: Select all

# Force fsck to run everytime during bootup
sudo touch /forcefsck
And reboot the filesystem will be repaired.

You probably have to flash new image on sd card boot from sd card and then try to repair the eMMC module filesystem.

So I installed: https://odroid.in/ubuntu_16.04lts/ubunt ... 920.img.xz
I still busy getting the system running - by now firefox does not work - anyone experienced that too?
Where can I get the odroid utilities in that installation?

sudo apt dist-upgrade
