unique serial number for exynos soc in U3

Unread postby stickman » Fri Dec 27, 2013 3:29 am

I don't know if this time you took into account the idea of writing an unique serial number on the Exynos efuse area.

It's been requested before (by others besides me) and maybe if you didn't request it yet you might be in time to ask Samsung to write it...

Any feedback on this?

Oh.. Sorry. I didn't get the answer yet and I also forgot it.
I'll push them again.
BTW, some customers are using the unique ID on the SD card or eMMC to protect their IP.

Edit:
I've just got the response from Samsung.
There is no unique ID in the Exynos.
Sorry about that.

You can access the Serial number of eMMC 's CID register.

Here is an example.
Code: Select all
root@android:/sys/block/mmcblk0/device
# cat cid
11010030303847393200cf8cb8bdbf8d

11010030303847393200cf8cb8bdbf8d
Those red 4 bytes are the Unique Serial number of eMMC card.

This method is also applicable to the SD card.
But you need to check the CID register map for SD card.
It may be different from eMMC.

Hello!
How to get cid if emmc connected to x86 PC via USB?
There no such file like cid in /sys/block/sdd/device/
Is there any way to get serial of emmc before connecting it to odroid board?

I have no idea. :(
The USB card read might be different from the embedded SDIO.

Do you, by chance, know about any adapter, that can be used to read this information on PC?

PCI type card reader seems to be a solution.
