ODROID Magazine November Issue Available Now! (LineageOS)

Unread postby robroy » Sun Nov 12, 2017 5:36 am

Hardkernel is proud to announce that the ODROID Magazine for November 2017 is now available!

If you've been wondering what happened to Cyanogenmod, which is no longer being supported, it has a new successor: LineageOS. Our feature article describes how to get LineageOS running on your ODROID with step-by-step compilation instructions. We also feature several tinkering projects, such as adding a power on/off button to your ODROID-C2, controlling the backlight on your ODROID-VU7, and using a Bluetooth microphone and speaker with Google Assistant.

Now that our team has adjusted to producing the new HTML version, all future issues will include both a printable version at https://magazine.odroid.com/issue/print and a PDF version at https://magazine.odroid.com/wp-content/ ... YYYYMM.pdf. As always, you can view the table of contents for the current issue's HTML version at https://magazine.odroid.com/issue. You can also view all of the articles for the current issue on a single page at https://magazine.odroid.com/issue/full. To get notified of new issues via RSS, subscribe to https://magazine.odroid.com/rss, or follow us on Google+.

As mentioned in the post, we are now producing a companion PDF:

Thanks! I missed that detail in the post.

I really like the new PDF. It has a lot less "noise" than the HTML and previous PDF style. Although there are some minor page layout issues, I think its overall a huge improvement.

Forgot to mention that the PDF needs a Table of Contents and page numbers at the bottom of each page to match.

Great work! Are you using an automatic layout program, or is it manual layout?

It's an automatic layout using a combination of CSS and using the Google Chrome "Print to PDF" feature while viewing https://magazine.odroid.com/issue/print. We don't have the resources to produce two separate versions of the magazine, so the PDF is essentially a download of the HTML version without the header, footer, and sidebar.

We will investigate whether it's possible to add a hot-linked Table of Contents to the automatically produced PDF.

I really want an ODROID with 2 mobile 6 core CPU's, low power mobile CPUs that can self boost when needed, and M.2 in the back of the board, HDMI only, and 2USB 3.0, with built in WiFi and no other plugs, power by a low voltage regulator 1 pin.
