Help, cannot connect to XRDP, using Debian 8

Unread postby anatife » Mon Feb 29, 2016 8:41 pm

I have a U3 running a Debian 8 image created by our Odroid friends.

I use LXDE.

For some reason, RDP (from Windows) fails to connect to xrdp. I select sesman-Xvnc. My username and pw are accepted, but the connection fails.

I have Debian 8 with xrdp working on several other Linux boxes (non-ARM).

have you checked if port 5910 is listening, means the service is really running?

Port 5910? Here's what I see:

Active Internet connections (only servers)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 326/sshd

well it's trying to connect to a running VNC server on Port 5910:
connecting to 127.0.0.1 5910

but if there's none running, then I guess it's no wonder it's not working. Question is, why is the VNC server that xrdp uses not running?

Oh I missed that important detail. Thanks, meveric!

So, for some reason, using the Odroid Debian 8 image, the package "vnc4server" was not installed. I installed it, then was able to connect by RDP from Windows.

I also found this reference useful:
