Current Ubuntu minimal Kernel 4.10 or higher

Unread post by smolit » Fri Nov 09, 2018 8:54 pm

Hi Community,

after nearly one week of researching testing an failing I contact you in hope that someone might help me.
I need a minimal version of ubunt (16.04 LTS or 18.04LTS) with a 4.10 kernel or higher that is running on my U3 with emmc.
Unfortunately my linux knowledge is not deep enough to kompile the suitable kernel.
Even the how tos I found in this forum couldn't help me.

I would be very grateful if somen can provide me a nearly current ubuntu version including a kernel 4.10 or higher.

Thanks
Sebastian

I eventually gave up trying to upgrade Ubuntu to the newest version of Ubuntu and installed ArchLinux.
https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv ... /odroid-u3

The only downside is that you'll have to install almost everything in order to setup the distro similar to ubuntu that
we used in odroid U3, including the GUI.

Archlinux has the latest updates running in the odroid

I successfully created a SD card following archlinux's installation guide https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv ... /odroid-u3

Then I ssh'd into my u3

Code: Select all

[root@alarm alarm]# pacman -Syu
[root@alarm alarm]# pacman -S xorg-server xorg-xinit
[root@alarm alarm]# pacman -S lxde
[root@alarm alarm]# systemctl enable lxdm
[root@alarm alarm]# uname -a
Linux alarm 4.20.2-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Jan 15 03:44:48 UTC 2019 armv7l GNU/Linux
[root@alarm alarm]# reboot
I get a black screen. How do I set up a graphical desktop?
