can you show the output of the following command:
Code: Select all
apt-cache policy libqt5webkit5

On Debian Version 0.12.1 is available, probably even for newer versions of Ubuntu.
If your system does satisfy the dependencies (QT 5.2) you should be able to install a newer version either from Ubuntu or Debian on your current system.

Dear Meveric,
Here is the result :

odroid@odroid:~$ apt-cache policy libqt5webkit5
libqt5webkit5:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 5.1.1-1ubuntu8
Version table:
5.1.1-1ubuntu8 0
500 http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ trusty/main armhf Packages
odroid@odroid:~$

Please advise further step to install 0.12.1 version.

That's not looking too good.

Ubuntu 14.04 only has QT5 5.1.1 but the 0.12.1 packages of wkhtmltopdf I found require QT5 5.2 or higher. So it wouldn't work on Ubuntu 14.04.

I found some people even backported it to Ubuntu 12.04. So it seems there is a way to rebuild it for older versions of Ubuntu.
I checked their sources and they seem to use QT4 instead of QT5. Which would mean no hardware acceleration. But it should still work.

I can try building it for you and see if it works.
Edit:
I've build the package for you.
It can be found here: http://oph.mdrjr.net/meveric/other/Ubun ... df-0.12.1/
you only need to download the .deb file.
and install it either with gdebi
Code: Select all
gdebi wkhtmltopdf_0.12.1-2~precise1+odroid1_armhf.deb

or if you don't have gdebi installed you can use dpkg instead:
Code: Select all
dpkg -i wkhtmltopdf_0.12.1-2~precise1+odroid1_armhf.deb
apt-get install -f

That way you should have wkhtmltopdf-0.12.1 for Ubuntu 14.04. running on QT4 instead of QT5

I neither use Odoo nor wkhtmltopdf, not even Ubuntu 14.04, so it's a little hard for me to test/help.

I have a few ODROID servers running Ubuntu 14.04 which I might be able to use for testing.

Can you give me some example data that I can use for testing?

Hi,

I am afraid I do not know how to give you a sample data.
I just try install Odoo 9 on Ubuntu Odroid U3. The installation is successful.
When I try to play around with Odoo 9 Accounting Module, the acounting module can create a financial report in html or pdf.
My Odoo system successful create the financial report in html, when I try to create financial report in pdf, the Odoo system said they require a wkhtmltopdf package.
The rest is like the previous post in this threat.

Can you tel me how to manually check is the wkhtmltopdf is working properly? Just want to make sure the problem is in wkhtmftopdf or ini odoo 9.

Thank's + regards,

Well as far as I understand wkhtmltopdf can convert a HTML file to a PDF file.
So you could actually just take your generated .html file and convert it on command line:
Code: Select all
wkhtmltopdf my-report.html my-report.pdf

You can try it with online sites as well:
Code: Select all
wkhtmltopdf http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.8/qstring.html qstring.pdf

Hi,
I just have time to test the wkhtmltopdf that you have sent. I try to do the conversion on terminal mode. The result is an empty pdf file. The error is something regarding to X11-server that can not be found.

Any further help please.

Thanks + regrads,

Yes, I would love to do so, but the problem are :
1. I use Odoo 10 now, but odoo10 still need wkhtmltopdf 0.12.1, the newer version do not work as stated in their website.
2. I still use Odroid U3, I think threre is no Ubuntu 16.04 for U3 (CMIIW).
That's why I still need some help.

This means you have to start the application from Desktop. It won't work from virtual terminal or if you connect via SSH.

Thanks for information, I will get it a try. Need to find the right time, because my U3 is still running Odoo 10 for my daily POS.
You should use the latest image from HardKernel Ubuntu 16.04 comes with wkhtmltopdf version 0.12.2.
btw: it's been over a year :D

If I use Ubuntu 16.04 for my Odroid U3, is there anyway to downgrade wkhtmltopdf to version 0.12.1? Please advise.

Regarding to my POS daily used (existing Ubuntu 14.04 on U3), is there any way to make wkhtmltopdf 0.12.1 works for Odoo10 on existing system? the wkhtmltopdf keep produce zero byte pdf file.

I prefer not to interrupt the existing system. Please advise.

Why would you want to downgrade? The newer version should have all functions of the older version. I highly doubt there's any good reason to downgrade.

Have you tried running it from Desktop as I said earlier?

Because odoo10 can only work with wkhtmltopdf 0.12.1 as confirmed on their website.

I will arange to test it on desktop as soon as I arange the setup for monitor, keyboard and mouse, because my U3 running headless as odoo server.

The website says 0.12.1 is recommended not that it's required. In fact they themselves offer version 0.12.2 -> https://nightly.odoo.com/extra/
So I don't think 0.12.2 will be an issue.

It's really hard to tell without having the software itself.
Seems rather complicated software that is.
I mean, since you already know wkhtmltopdf is available for Debian Jessie. And apparently you are not bound to a specific version of Ubuntu, why not try Debian instead where the correct version of your software is available?
Is can this odoo software be downloaded for free? How can someone else test it?

My goal is to use Odroid U3 (now with Ubuntu 16.04 / Ubuntu_mate) as a server (odoo10 server).
My Odoo10 application is mainly for POS (point of sale) and Sales.
For sales application I need to print the generated HTML sales invoice to PDF file, This feature already included in Odoo10 sales, but I have to install wkhtmltopdf by myself.
The default wkhtmltopdf (armhf) in Ubuntu mate is 12.02.4-1, and have an error like my previous post.
The link : https://nightly.odoo.com/extra/ do not have wkhtmltopdf for Ubuntu neither for arm (armhf).

From the forum, the community user confirm that wkhtmltopdf 0.12.1 work fine with odoo10.
BTW, the odoo10 community is freely to download at : nightly.odoo.com.
I will be grateful if you have some time to try play with odoo10 and help to solve my wkhtmltopdf problem.
