ODROID-XU Physical Specs

Post by roosemberth » Mon Nov 04, 2013 10:32 am

Hi, I was wondering if you have a 3D model of the ODROID-XU, or can you provide me with more exact desing parameters for doing it by my way...

Also I was wondering if you know the exact weight.

I found this old post, but not quite helpful: http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f ... ngs#p15844

Best Regards! :D

We don't have the 3D model.
I'll upload a DWG/DXF of PCB file today.

The weight is 70gram including the cooling fan assembly.
The plastic case is 38gram.

Here is the DWG file for XU PCB.
http://dn.odroid.com/ODROID-XU/PCB_DWG/ ... REV0.3.DWG

Let me know whether you have a problem of viewing that file or not.

Our PCB tool does not support the STL/OBJ..
I could see it with Autocad 2010 version.

Can you try other tools?

@odroid : I managed to start building the 3D model and I noticed that the DWG is not complete, It misses the fan mounting Holes

Almost Done!

Just silks missing, but I have a problem to render text:
Silks.png
@odroid, would you mind exporting silks layers (TopOverlay and BottomOverlay) as an image file (jpg, jpeg, png, ...). Looks like the fonts on my system doesn't match the ones on the file.

Best Regards!

We couldn't find how to export to the JPG file.
We just captured the screen of PCB CAD and the resolution is not good as this file.
http://dn.odroid.com/ODROID-XU/PCB_DWG/XU_PCB_SILK.zip

The font is Arial / bold.

Yes, No Problem haha!, here are the STL and Blend Files:
[3D] ODROID-XU.zip
(271.51 KiB) Downloaded 538 times
:D

Sorry that I couldn't inset the silks :(, but the model's fine, just scale it down (It's in meters instead of centimeters).

Best Regards!

roosemberth, Awesome job taking it upon yourself and providing a model for the community to use!
I'm having trouble opening the STL file in Solidworks, is there any specific software you used to model this? Blender? What were your export settings?

roosemberth, thanks for the quick reply!

Your blend files are in the zip that you already uploaded and I could get that to open and render quite nicely, but the formatting is funky and frankly I have never used blender and it is quite a baffling interface. I would love a .stp or some similar 3D CAD related format that I can use to model the XU in a custom housed application.

Probably better to work from a real ODROID than a drawing at least you know it's right...if any one wants one here's some stuff we do
I thought we were known about but I think it's time for another splurge :)

Need to keep track with the stuff we are doing then please subscribe and tell us what you think ..Cheers

I'm trying to create a rough model of the power delivery network for the A15 and A7 cores, memory, and GPU (VDD_ARM, VDD_KFC, VDD_MEM/VDDCA_E1/VDDCA_E2/VDD2_E/..., and VDD_3D, the 4 rails from the PMIC that are instrumented with energy monitors on the ODROID-XU+E).

While a full BOM and layout files would be great, the smaller things that would be very useful are:
* PCB stackup information, including:
-- number of layers and spacing/copper thickness of each layer
-- dielectric material and thickness
-- which layers are the power and ground planes for the 4 rails mentioned
* BOM for the decoupling capacitors on these rails (in the range C150-C300) to see what dielectrics they use and estimate their ESR and ESL

Would you be able to release this data? I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

All capacitors are genernally used X5R Dielectric.

Is there any spec for a Xu case to 3D print??
Ideally a VESA mount?
Thanks!

Nice work could you re-upload because the stl file is only 84 bytes lond and only contains this.

Is this for the XU4 or another XU model?

Hm, it's the Odroid-XU subforum (not XU3/4/...), the file name says Odroid-XU (not XU3/4/...), so what do you expect? Posting and reading in the correct section seems like a good idea.

I could download it and file size is 278,030 bytes.
XU and XU3 are physically compatible.
But XU4 is totally different.
