Ah right the next day I got mine by mail.
I already started to create an image by myself, extracted u-boot from emmc, kernel, etc., but if the image already exists, it's much better, I'll use it.
For sure I will roll the kernel a lot with options, expect a bugreports. =D

Hi!i tried DDing the ubuntu image on a sdcard,to try it and see how react with my hdmi-related problem.i tried first on an 8gb emmc 4.41,not boot(red light)
then tried on an sdcard (moved jumper accordingly)it doesn't stay only red light on,it simultaneosly blinking blue and green, but no screen.
I tried tracing the problem, did a log by UART-kit and on first lines there's something i don't know about an error with sdcard.i tried 2 times dding the sdcard, and second time began with a clean card.
Any help would be appreciated

Had the same issue when inserted an sdcard from my U2 just to check it out. I bought new sdcard and put u-boot and trustzone from emmc which was shipped with XU on it, and it worked out good.

Try zerofilling the sdcard first before flashing the image... I haven't found this problem :(

there is a command already in XU boot sequence (u-boot menu), you can run it by pressing enter at count down from 1 at the very early boot.
and the you will be at the boot command prompt
issue "printenv" and you will see all variables coded in u-boot, there will be some script I don't exactly remember how it is called, something like "copytrustzone_emmc2sd" and vice versa "copytrustzone_sd2emmc", you can execute it by issuing "run copytrustzone_emmc2sd" and it will copy variables from mmc 0 (which would be emmc if present) to mmc 1 (which would be sd if present).
Don't mixup anything, because this script doesn't check anything at all, it just copyies number of bytes from device mmc 0 to mmc 1. If it will be mess, it will copy mess. If your emmc for some reason would be mmc 1 it will write crap on it from mmc 0 instead of doing vise versa. It is plain as f..k, it just copy bytes.
If you are not very confident in all this, you can always run "help" and "help <command>" to see what it does in this u-boot enviroment.

Pure MFC performance: 103 fps on 1080p video.
I didn't found what is a new FIMC device on XU, just saw there is some new G-Scaler which can scale frames but doesn't color convert and etc... So didn't test FIMC yet because don't know what is the new process.

old way doesn't work with it ?

It looks like the G-Scaler can do color conversion too...

Old Way? It didn't even appear as device after I truned it on in kenrel. I'm not quite sure the driver is compatible with Exynos5 since it is the same driver it was for Exynos4. And besides that there is different memory allocator, Android ION instead of CMA and I'm not sure s5p-fimc has changes for it.
But I'll give it a try again today.
And G-Scaler can do conversion, but not from NV12MT which is the output of MFC. Plus it crashes on my 3.4.5, so I disabled it at all. =D

What crashes gscaler on 3.4.5 is the udev v4l_id... for some reason when its run it crashes the GScaler.

I've tested new MFC, it now produces NV12MT_16X16 which GScaler converts. And looks like there is no FIMC in Exynos5 at all, everything was done in new IP called GScaler in silicon.
So it looks like all the work done for FIMC can be flushed for Exynos5.
I've already started to see how GScaler should be handled in code, I have my head spinning. Only two things makes me continue - it was the same when I started with MFC, and this devices are really fast, so we will not face performance problems even if the code would be bad.
And it's a good point to start looking why GScaler is crashing in kernel, because it is not doing something for it should do and I don't know why, is it me, or kernel.

Nah.. on /lib/udev there's the v4l_id
make it not run and it will not crash..

some thing that v4l_id does on gscaler crashes it.

You are pretty right.
and this v4l_id is run from /lib/udev/rules.d/60-persistent-v4l.rules, it can be commented out there. What it does it reads v4l node and prints it's attributes. udev them imports this output as device attributes. Don't know how not exporting these attributes to udev will affect operations. Probably not much.

Good news came today from my side. Looks like MFCv6 can produce untiled picture (which was the general pain in the ass), so G-Scaler could be unneeded at all, since the picture is almost ready for an XMBC screen.
As soon as XBMC could be run on -XU GLES I will start to test things visual. For the moment video can be successfully decoded to NV12M format which is almost YUV420.

Right now I'm trying to find libEGL.so and libGLESv2.so for PowerVR and found some. Some of them are not loading at all, because of soft-float, some of them segfaulting, but is this normal:
root@odroid-xu:~# cat /proc/pvr/version
Version SGX_DDK_Android sgxddk 1.10@2209507 (release) pvr
System Version String: None

Ok, I've found this in doc for SDK:
Installation
Prerequisites
OpenGL ES 2.0 libraries are not distributed with the PowerVR Insider SDK for Linux. Ask your platform provider for these libraries if you do not have them.

So it means Hardkernel has to have libEGL.so and libGLESv2.so for their platform. Are they going to share it? Where can we find it?

PVR SDK is more them those two libraries that you want. We'll share it once we got the DDK working.
Its the whole goal aint?

Yup. I'll wait then for the lib. Because I can't run XBMC without EGL to check MFC visual.
Only console version which do everything is now working, but working good.
So I'll wait for now.

What type of problem does the Gscaler bring?
I'm on the Quiet_giant version of Rob,but with desktop installed (the one he uploadfed is headless)
I finished today setting all for my need and installing all the things, took me 3 hours. For now i stick with it because i don't want to redo all the things.
I only want to know, after update the kernel to the last available, what problems bring that gscaler bug?
For the ethernet bug i didn't see it..my board with both nlinux and ubuntu after a reboot need that all the usb things connected have to be disconnected, otherwise it doesn't boot.when i do this,i always disconnect also the LAN cable, when reach login screen,i re-connect all and luckily it works.
I'll stay with initial release for now,and try Debian in a couple of hours!
thanks for the work

Thanks for the image. I will use this as a starter for my funtoo installation for the Odroid XU.
I will also make a fork of it and install the mate desktop as I did with the Odroid U2.

anyone got sound with this image?
I tried both HDMI sound and through the P2 plug to no avail.
alsamixer does not show volume controls, only the playback output which is sort of cryptic.

Please help... I'm stuck with solid blue LED (20130827)

I don't have UART so I can't see what's going on.

My XU boot fine with the supply Android.

Download the image and checksum, everythings good.
dd the image to 16GB eMMC (I'm not resize the partition to fit eMMC)
Power the board without any cable connected.
After power the board go GREEN -> BLUE -> GREEN -> SOLID BLUE
I think kernel loading need some times, but it's about 30 mins and nothing goes any where.

Something weird...
Sorry. It was not the backup battery. It was the hdmi cable. Probably I disconnected both. When I disconnect the hdmi cable I can boot without problems :) (Afterwards I can connect the cable again).

Pull out your magnifying glass and read the DIP switch chart next to the heatsink, then get a toothpick to set them ;)

Ubuntu: Ubuntu 13.04 20130917
LED Status: Flashes blue solid red
720p: No video
1080p: No Video
No signal at all
I flashed your ubuntu image using win32 diskimager on windows. I'm using a MicroSD Card.

Download Link -> http://www.mdrjr.net/odroid/Ubuntu_XU/

I've tried 2 different HDMI Cords and the DIP switch is set to MicroSD. I've also tried 20130817,20130827

Not sure what to do at this point.
