Hopefully it is not a stupid question, But is it possible to use the updater from The original Jelly bean from hardkernel to upgrade to this version?

Yes, but after you hit "Validate file" button you have to wait for another 5 minutes and only after that hit "Restart for update" button !!! ( bug in updater app )

but CM is support that feauture

That's good idea.
We will look into the CM's feature.

But we've just started to port the 4.4.2 to U3/U2/X2/X boards.
So we will be back to the USB Bluetooth support 2~3 weeks later.

Hopefully small request...

I can't seem to find an easy way to "access" the ethernet settings ala stock. Like a way to quickly disable it or enable it, either with DHCP or static. Does CM or AOSP have that option?

New build released, you can get it from first post.
I recommend update Updater before flashing it.

Voodik,

I just wanted to say thank you again!!! I love this hardware, and you porting CM to it has made it just perfect!! It's amazing how quickly you got this up and running, seeing as the U2/U3 is still on CM10.2. I guess it's skill but also resources and focus, just like Cell Phone ROMs.

I am hoping others like me appreciate it as much, and become at least more vocal - so you know you're appreciated!

Just tested this build on my XU. Looks and feels just like home!
I swear by CyanogenMod. It's the best thing that's happened to Android since sliced bread.

A few gripes:
  • No service icon is in the status bar. Do you have intentions on supporting 3G/4G modems via USB? If not, I think there was a build.prop setting that disabled the icon... was it ro.product.type = wifi-only ?
  • In addition to the above, you may need to remove the Cell Network menus as they report bogus data and cause Settings to stop working, etc.
  • Back, Home and Switch App Icons are shrunk compared to the others. Maybe just a DPI/scaling issue.
  • Ethernet seemed to not be enabled (?). I will try the browser though. (EDIT: Ethernet does indeed work, it's just that the icon in the system tray doesn't appear to be lit up)
Other than this, initial testing has gone well. Very impressed with CM11 on the XU!

About icons, it's not a DPI/scaling issue, the default navbar icons have a thinner design. If someone provide me better icons I replace them.

Ethernet is indeed working with DHCP. LAN Lights are blinking. Haven't tested with Static IP.

Just noticed:

Bluetooth is working with a generic USB 2.0 module. However, it seems that the Bluetooth keyboard is able to be paired with the ODROID-XU, but using it in any Android native program seems to not register key inputs. For example:
  • Plug in USB Dongle
  • Pair a Bluetooth Keyboard with the adapter plugged into the ODROID-XU
  • Go into Browser
  • Try entering text into the Google Search box.
Is this a known issue or does Android need the keymaps?

I'm away from the office due to family events so I am unable to do so, but as soon as I get back into the office on Monday, I will do this and see what the output is for you - I'll attach a text file with the log.
If there's no events, could the Bluetooth framework be buggy? I can confirm the keyboard is working with other devices. I know on the official hardkernel ROM release that the Bluetooth framework doesn't work as of yet.

As promised, I connected the Bluetooth keyboard and i cannot see it in the getevent list of devices. It can see my usb wireless keyboard, though. I spammed the bluetooth keyboard and nothing happened. :?

It picks up the following:

odroid-ts
odroid-keypad
HOLTEK Wireless USB Device
(same as the one above)

No Bluetooth keyboard.

Minor gripe: When using USB storage, when using the button that says "Unmount USB Sharing/Storage" in the dialogue that appears, the partition that is used for storage will be remounted so Android can use it, but the spinner that appears will remain there until you reinvoke the dialogue from the top bar.

Also, does the ODROID-XU support MTP? This would make copying to and from the ODROID much simpler as it would come up as a little device in Windows "Computer" or a Portable device in Linux.

Now installing the Google Apps.

Edit: Apparently my XU scored 26992 in AnTuTu's Benchmarks. That's just above my HTC One (M7)... Impressive.

Wait for USB 3G modem support like in 4.2.2, can't use your great CM-11 Android 4.4.2 without this support. If you can please let me know when you can add support for 3G modems? Thanks!

Just subscribe/follow this thread. It will send emails out when new updates are made.

I will be eager to test, because I know a majority of USB modems work well with USB ModeSwitch to kick them out of CD-ROM mode into just-modem mode. At least the Huawei ones do that.

I have Huawei e173 modem and its already in "Modem only" mode. Worked well with Jeally Bean but CM-11 KitKat can't find network.

That would be because afaik voodik hasn't pushed the new build out yet. Be patient and have another coffee while you wait.

Will the one-click 4.4.2 GAPPS work with this, or should we wait for the update to that as well?

Will test with a Huawei modem I have kicking around, it's like a HSPA+ one that I have from Optus here in Australia.
I also have a Logitech C170 webcam that uses the USB Video Protocol... whatever the term for that is. I'll see if I can test that out too.
I can see this build being used in a development tablet ... When I get the funds I might very well build the tablet ... :D

I'm experiencing really weird artifacts in xbmc 13.1 rc and 13.1. Never had an issue before, good news is isn't force closing on certain older encoded files, but it's doing this weird thing for everything else that worked perfectly prior... Any logs you need? I also have logitech cam I'll test, but I want this in first as I use all XUs and 1 U3 for xbmc primarily.

This happens regardless if I have hardware decoding on or not, which prior to this 4.4.3 update, was one way to play those files at all.

Oh, that reminds me.

It seems that GPU needs a cooldown after running 3D programs, because if you launch a 3D title, then press the switcher, the UI will be laggy until the said 3D title is closed. I think this is due to the GPU threads still running.

Never seen that before, only rebooted my odroids once a month or so. This was after another reboot and nothing else running. Very different than the last 4.4.2.

Other than that, awesome job! Can I downgrade it, or do I need to reflash from scratch.

Reflash from scratch, because you risk having residual files left over that 4.4.2 can't read.

Yes i see artifacts with xbmc, but i think this is a xbmc issue. Because all other media players (Mx Player, stock video player) playing all files normally. Strange thing, xbmc normal plays 1080p videos but 720p videos plays with artifacts.

XBMC I think uses a different media rendering engine, not the built-in default one that comes with Android. MX Player uses FFMpeg as far as I'm aware, because sometimes you'll need to download a codec pack depending on the hardware.

XBMC has been able to play every file thrown into it. It works like it works in the PC. Gladly you don't really have to play with the codec packs anymore.

Nice to hear! Maybe it's time to move from 4.2.2 to 4.4.3 :)

ps. Does the WiFi dongle work now?

What about 10bit MKV files? These MKV formats are becoming quite common since they can pack more quality into the file (plus reduced file sizes), and anime fansubs usually comes in 10bit nowadays.

I tested 720p and 1080p h264 10 bit mkv videos with ssa subtitles, MX player decode it by software but playback is smoothly. Remember, all this tests i do on Odroid-XU Lite :) With 1080p playback (subtitles enabled) i get 2.0 maximum cpu load (equals 50% cpu usage). Odroid-XU is the best development board in the world :-D
