All this files for flashing from recovery, we don't have a recovery.
For now you can install gapps by copying files manually(or via adb push) and setting right permisions. All flashable zips have a update-script file, in this file you can see copy file locations and permissions.

Thanks for this awesome image. I've managed to update my official 4.2.2 image to your port via the official updater.
However, the WIFI is not working.. It stuck at turning WIFI on, no matter the wifi dongle is plugged in or not. I tried both wifi module 2 and 3, but no luck.. :(
Please let me know if I can do anything to help you figure out this issue.

The is the error screen:

We made those manually..

You can just dump a good image with dd..

dd if=/dev/sdX of=./yourimage.img bs=1M
xz -e -9 yourimage.img

Good to go :)

What about auto-resizing partitions at first boot? Will it work if voodik make image the way you have said?

20140409
Added Android Bluedroid USB HCI support.
We've been porting the AOSP 4.4.2 and most major features are working.
But we couldn't enable the Bluetooth at all.

Could you please tell me which Bluetooth devices are actually working?
A2DP stereo headset? or HID mouse/keyboard?

I am only paired with my smartphone, send files etc. I don't have a stereo headset or other bluetooth hid for test :(

p.s.
Do you removed all bluetooth support from kernel ?

I first flashed the device with the images you provided, and then replaced them with mine.

1. with all your images ==> works fine
2. flash zImage ==> works fine
3. flash system.img ==> does not work.
it showed me:

Code: Select all

[ 7.380486] write to read-only section trapped, success
[ 7.386264] Failed to execute /init. Attempting defaults...
[ 7.394380] Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. See Linux Docume.
[ 7.405441] Backtrace:
I tried flashing cache and userdata, too. But it wan't helpful. Can you help me figure out what the problem is?

The problemm is ODROID not using ramdisk.
After build complete you need to make system.img with rootdir inside system partition.
You can make a script with this commands:

Code: Select all

cp -arp /your_cm_source/out/target/product/odroidxu/system /tmp/
cp -arp /your_cm_source/out/target/product/odroidxu/root/* /tmp/system/

mv /tmp/system/init /tmp/system/bin/
mv /tmp/system/sbin/adbd /tmp/system/bin/
cd /tmp/system
ln -s bin/init init
cd /tmp/system/sbin
ln -s ../bin/adbd adbd

/your_cm_source/out/host/linux-x86/bin/make_ext4fs -s -l 1073741824 -a system /tmp/system.img /tmp/system
and flash /tmp/system.img

Or you can use build.sh from bsp, but i not using it.

Thanks again. Now I can see the shell via adb.

Another problem is that the device keeps showing this message:

Code: Select all

[ 16.364901] PVR_K:(Error): BridgedDispatchKM: Initialisation failed. Driver unusable. [4650, /home/myhome]
Why does this message include my home directory??

Hi, I'm codewalker.

I am very interested in your works.

I'm going to work porting kitkat for ODROID-XU.

I have some problems that's to use mass_storage service instead of MTP service and Bluetooth to support USB dongle type.

How can I build for odroid-xu?

Where I download device/hardkernel/odroidxu project?

Hopefully it is not a stupid question, But is it possible to use the updater from The original Jelly bean from hardkernel to upgrade to this version?

Yes, but after you hit "Validate file" button you have to wait for another 5 minutes and only after that hit "Restart for update" button !!! ( bug in updater app )

but CM is support that feauture
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_ ... Android.mk

Code: Select all

ifeq ($(BLUETOOTH_HCI_USE_USB),true)
Maybe you try to port this from CM ?

That's good idea.
We will look into the CM's feature.

But we've just started to port the 4.4.2 to U3/U2/X2/X boards.
So we will be back to the USB Bluetooth support 2~3 weeks later.

Hopefully small request...

I can't seem to find an easy way to "access" the ethernet settings ala stock. Like a way to quickly disable it or enable it, either with DHCP or static. Does CM or AOSP have that option?

New build released, you can get it from first post.
I recommend update Updater before flashing it.

Voodik,

I just wanted to say thank you again!!! I love this hardware, and you porting CM to it has made it just perfect!! It's amazing how quickly you got this up and running, seeing as the U2/U3 is still on CM10.2. I guess it's skill but also resources and focus, just like Cell Phone ROMs.

I am hoping others like me appreciate it as much, and become at least more vocal - so you know you're appreciated!

Just tested this build on my XU. Looks and feels just like home!
I swear by CyanogenMod. It's the best thing that's happened to Android since sliced bread.

A few gripes:
  • No service icon is in the status bar. Do you have intentions on supporting 3G/4G modems via USB? If not, I think there was a build.prop setting that disabled the icon... was it ro.product.type = wifi-only ?
  • In addition to the above, you may need to remove the Cell Network menus as they report bogus data and cause Settings to stop working, etc.
  • Back, Home and Switch App Icons are shrunk compared to the others. Maybe just a DPI/scaling issue.
  • Ethernet seemed to not be enabled (?). I will try the browser though. (EDIT: Ethernet does indeed work, it's just that the icon in the system tray doesn't appear to be lit up)
Other than this, initial testing has gone well. Very impressed with CM11 on the XU!

About icons, it's not a DPI/scaling issue, the default navbar icons have a thinner design. If someone provide me better icons I replace them.

Ethernet is indeed working with DHCP. LAN Lights are blinking. Haven't tested with Static IP.

Just noticed:

Bluetooth is working with a generic USB 2.0 module. However, it seems that the Bluetooth keyboard is able to be paired with the ODROID-XU, but using it in any Android native program seems to not register key inputs. For example:
  • Plug in USB Dongle
  • Pair a Bluetooth Keyboard with the adapter plugged into the ODROID-XU
  • Go into Browser
  • Try entering text into the Google Search box.
Is this a known issue or does Android need the keymaps?
