Sorry, I've got a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T (USB-ID 2040:7070). It needs the dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw firmware and several modules (dvb_core, dvb_usb and several dib0700-related modules).

For those interested:
Run lsmod on a linux computer, plug in dvb device, run lsmod again. Then it isn't too hard to figure out which modules you need.
Run dmesg and look for lines which refer to loading the dvb firmware - even if it has failed, it'll tell you which firmware file you need.
Run lsusb and find out the usb-id of your device - it might be useful later.
Rebuild kernel with necessary modules and dvb related options. Right now, I can't access my config. I'll post it later, possibly in a new thread.
After transfering your new kernel (and the modules) to your odroid, there are (at least) two different ways of proceeding:
a) Trying to create an android dvb service (search xda-developers, other people have done similar things before)
b) Run a linux dvb app in a chroot environment. That's what I'm trying. In my case it's vdr which is supposed to work as a live tv and recording backend for xbmc. In principal it works, but I've got performance issues which don't really make sense to me: I used to run a very similar vdr setup on both a NSLU2 (ARMv5te) and a beagleboard - both machines have considerably less "power" than the xu. And when the xu serves as a client only, xbmc shows on average, that only one of the cpus is really busy, although mpeg2 decoding is done in software. In theory, running vdr in the background shouldn't be a problem at all. But then again, I don't know much about scheduling etc. in android. I'll keep messing around with it... ;)

Do you have a RTL2832U based DVB tuner ? If yes can you try this new builded kernel with patched RTL2832U module ?
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1vLgB ... sp=sharing
If it works i commit the patch.

I also want to build car-pc and I bought this board for this. The bad thing is I don't know how i develop after installing odroid-xu in my car :(
I will have one of those tuners once it arrives. Looks like I will be buying a xu :) if your doing a car pc you may want to check out this android front end http://www.mp3car.com/android/155941-bu ... ntend.html

The sdcard mounting issue still persist after upgrade. I tried exFat and also reformat that partition to ext4. The system doesn't mount them at all.

I can manually mount it by run "mount -t ext4 -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /storage/sdcard0" but the permission is wrong and browser app still crash b/c of this (compared to usbdisk in picture, if i plug in a usb flashdrive, it can mount and browser stops crashing)

How can I make sdcard partition mount automatically? I have not much android knowledge to proceed. Please advice. Thanks a lot.

You need to replace your /system/fstab.odroidxu file.
Create text file on your PC named fstab.odroidxu
copy this text to your file

Code: Select all

# Android fstab file.
#<src> <mnt_point> <type> <mnt_flags and options> <fs_mgr_flags>
# The filesystem that contains the filesystem checker binary (typically /system) cannot
# specify MF_CHECK, and must come before any filesystems that do specify MF_CHECK

/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system ext4 rw wait
/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 /cache ext4 noatime,nosuid,nodev,nomblk_io_submit,errors=panic wait
/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /data ext4 noatime,nosuid,nodev,nomblk_io_submit,noauto_da_alloc,errors=panic,discard wait
# SD card

/devices/platform/exynos-dwc3.1/exynos-xhci.1 auto	auto	defaults voldmanaged=usb3host:auto
Copy it to your system partition.

Code: Select all

adb remount
adb push fstab.odroidxu /system/
reboot.

I think this is not the same issue.
Is your android debugging enabled in Developer options ? Check your micro usb cable. Check your device manager for new hardware.
After you get working adb, upload somewhere your dmesg and logcat output.

I'm have don't undersood that i have to plug the odroid on pc, so i create the file like your say, and do the command line on a terminal on my pc, so the command run well.
The first time i edit the original fstab by plugin my sdcard on my pc. and do the command in the odroid terminal -_-'
( i don't find devolloper option in this android version, in the parameter menu )

:~$ adb remount
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
remount succeeded
:~$ adb push fstab.odroidxu /system/
23 KB/s (1306 bytes in 0.054s)
:~$

But no resolve the problem, the dmesg in this file -> http://niarg.org/Odroid/dmesg and logcat -> http://niarg.org/Odroid/logcat

Okay i booted with sdcard only and get it to work. Please use this config.

Code: Select all

# Android fstab file.
#<src> <mnt_point> <type> <mnt_flags and options> <fs_mgr_flags>
# The filesystem that contains the filesystem checker binary (typically /system) cannot
# specify MF_CHECK, and must come before any filesystems that do specify MF_CHECK

/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system ext4 rw wait
/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 /cache ext4 noatime,nosuid,nodev,nomblk_io_submit,errors=panic wait
/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /data ext4 noatime,nosuid,nodev,nomblk_io_submit,noauto_da_alloc,errors=panic,discard wait

# SD card
/devices/platform/dw_mmc.2/mmc_host/mmc0 auto auto defaults voldmanaged=sdcard0:auto,noemulatedsd
# EMMC
/devices/platform/dw_mmc.0/mmc_host/mmc1 auto auto defaults voldmanaged=sdcard1:auto

# USB storage
/devices/platform/s5p-ehci auto auto defaults voldmanaged=usb2host:auto
/devices/platform/exynos-dwc3.0/exynos-xhci.0 auto auto defaults voldmanaged=usb3device:auto
/devices/platform/exynos-dwc3.1/exynos-xhci.1 auto auto defaults voldmanaged=usb3host:auto
I tested with 32GB class 10 sdcard.
If you don't get luck download http://dn.odroid.com/ODROID-XU/Firmware ... er.img.zip and write it to your sdcard with Win32DiskImager.
Check your sdcard is mounted ? if mounted update to CM-11 with OdroidUpdater utility (url for updater on first page, check format userdata).
After first boot replace or edit /system/fstab.odroidxu then reboot.

If doesn't work try with another sd-card, because my sdcard work perfect after these steeps.

Update!
Fixed USB Bluetooth uhid support (now you can connect your Bluetooth keyboard and mouse).
added /system/fstab.odroidxu.sdboot (if you boot from sdcard after first boot rename this file to fstab.odroidxu and reboot)
Some fixes.

LOL, how come AOSP's fstab wouldn't work with Cyanogenmod?

Thank you very much for the great work.
I noticed in this post http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=2973, odroid supports libcec. Do you plan to make it work for the CM version as well?

Full hdmi CEC only works under linux, android does not have a full CEC support, i can include partial libcec support to this build but XBMC does not work with it.

With 1080p output you can set ro.config.low_ram=true in build.prop this disabling status and navbar transparency and glitches disappear.
The mouse pointer adds new layer and as can I understand GPU can't render transparent layers + mouse pointer. When i navigating with touch screen and no mouse pointer no glitches in right corner.

p.s.
When increasing ro.sf.lcd_density more than 260 - no glitches. Removing background image no glitches.

voodik thanks again for your help...i appreciate your fantastic work.
voodik wrote:With 1080p output you can set ro.config.low_ram=true in build.prop this disabling status and navbar transparency and glitches disappear...
I added the option to build.prop (using "Build Prop Editor" app) but the glichtes remain. (After adding the option i did reboot my odroid).
voodik wrote:When increasing ro.sf.lcd_density more than 260 - no glitches.

I increased ro.sf.lcd_density in build.prop to 280 -> glitches stay.
Actually i use 180 dpi as my lcd density value, this makes the icons and text a little bigger.
voodik wrote:Removing background image no glitches.
I also removed the wallpaper but that doesnt work for me either.

Do you know any other things to try out?

I just want to compile and build from the source code (https://github.com/voodik/android_devic ... l_odroidxu) But I don't know how to do it and cannot find HOW-TO tips. Is there anybody to recommend references to help me to compile and build it something like http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Build_for_odroidu2 ?

for bluetooth: Edit /system/ueventd.odroidxu.rc last line

Code: Select all

# bluetooth device
/dev/bus/usb/001/005 0660 bluetooth bluetooth
Change bus and device number according your device. You can check it with lsusb command.
e.g. for my Bluetooth
Bus 001 Device 009: ID 07d1:f101
i change this line to
/dev/bus/usb/001/009 0660 bluetooth bluetooth

For Usb gps you need cp210x kernel module and some init script modifications.
Do you have usb-uart kit ?

Hi Guys,
i have a suggestion for this android build/version:

To get write access to e.g. an external hard disk for all apps (especial those how do not request root access) a change in the file
"/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml" can be done with adding the tag "<group gid="media_rw" />" to the "android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" definitions.
So "platform.xml" should look something like this:

Code: Select all

<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
    <group gid="sdcard_r" />
    <group gid="sdcard_rw" />
    <group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>
Should this be added permently to this version? Any thoughts?

ROM works great! Thanks alot!
Bluetooth also works following the guide a few posts up.
My bluetooth device id did however change when I rebooted, even though I didn't move the dongle. So it's something you should look out for when you made the changes and your bluetooth still didn't work. I just reconfigured it again, rebooted, and it seems to stay now :D

You need to boot with all your USB devices connected :) If you connect USB device on running system the device id changed after reboot.

Hi all! First at all say thanks for this great work! I came from JellyBean in my OXU-Lite with a self install image of the alfa 1 in emmc and then update with odroid-utility once started. Everything is much more smooth. However I couldn't connect the USB-dongle I was using before, is there any way to make it works? It is a CSR v4.0. Another question, How could I exit from full screen? it says swipe from bottom to the upper side, but the widgets/themes configuration appears. Is there another way to make the buttons come back?
Thank you!
Octa

New update works GREAT! No more glitches on home screen, menus etc. Smooth transition effects.
Antutu went up from 26670 to 29499 ! (still wishing to beat M8  )

About the fullscreen apps. I have same issue. No app that is FULLY fullscreen can I "swipe" down to get the onscreen buttons back.
Some games like Modern Combat 4 leaves the buttons at the bottom of the screen (only takes away the notification bar at the top)
Other games that completely fill the screen - I can't get the buttons or notification bar by "swiping" down.

I say "swiping" in quotes because I don't have a touch screen. I use a PS3 controller with sixaxis to simulate a mouse. I have tried with a physical keyboard and mouse too, no luck getting the buttons back (what does work is if your keyboard has the home function key)

Would the launcher I use be the issue? I use Google Now launcher. I'll try the default one again this afternoon and see if it makes a difference, but i guess the others that have the same issue used the default laucher...

Hi! Thanks a lot for your answer. Bluetooth is working now.
Fullscreen is in every applications. I can get only the clock bar, but not buttons. In gallery just hide/show the bar with option/share. I just like them in the home screen. Basically I'm using the power button for shut down/restart and the one showing the apps running. If I can't get the buttons back, is there another option to shut down the device than "unplug" or as many applications I have tried and do similar effect than "unplug"?
Regards,
Octa

I just installed voodik's latest and greatest tonight (IT ROCKS!!)...and ran into the same issue with the desktop going fullscreen and the buttons vanishing. It's easy to fix, though - just drag down the menu bar from the top right and go to settings...then Display, and look for the Extended Display option there...then simply set it to disabled. Whammo, buttons are back. :D

Many thanks to voodik for his new update...now video playback etc. is smooth.

But i tried to connect my idroid:con game controller via bluetooth to my odroid.
The game controller isnt found. I can pair my odroid with my cell phone, so bluetooth basicly works.
(The game controller can be paired with my cell phone, so this should also work.)

Has anybody tested a device with the “secure simple pairing” (SSP) protocoll? Any hints?

--> IDROID:CON game controller now works. I dont know why, must be Murhyp's Law...

Google says SSP is using NFC for pairing. We don't have a NFC on this board.

p.s
I have a PS4 Dualshock 4 controller and it paired and work without any problem.
