Say hello to my little vintage laptop project

Unread postby Scarpia » Wed Jan 20, 2016 1:18 am

Hi everybody

I'm Scarpia from Scandinavia and I just bought an XU4 hoping to make it the centerpiece in a vintage laptop build I'm working on.

I have a stripped down Zenith SuperSport, one of the most popular 'laptops' of the 1980s, which I plan to turn into a gloriously anachronistic Linux-powered beast. The goal: to delight and mystify my fellow commuters on the train between Stockholm and Copenhagen

As the build goes on, I will be documenting my progress in another thread, and probably asking a bunch of stupid questions as I run into the inevitable problems with battery power, finding and connecting the right 9.7" LCD, and getting the built-in mechanical keyboard working as a USB peripheral.

I look forward to talking to you all! And happy New Year to the good people @ Hardkernel!

Hi Scarpia,
I'm very interested in your project. I too have an old Zenith SuperSport just collecting dust now, but it was a workhorse for me back in the old college days. I love the mechanical feel of the keyboard!

It would be awesome to repurpose all of this using an SBC like the odroid.

How is your project coming along?
