ODROID & Android Auto

Hello!

I'm looking into this forum as I'm updating my car's PC system. It used to have a RPi PC inside, but it is too slow and unstable to use.

So now I'm looking for a device that I could run Android, and use it as a Android Auto server. There is also a "HeadUnit" application for Android that allows the usage of one android device as an Android Auto "vehicle". More about that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general ... o-t3125252

Relying on this, the requirements are:
-H.264 video decoder.
-Android 4.1 +
-USB Host mode

Does Odroid have them all? I think so... :) SO just hooking odroid to a touchscreen display should make it possible to use it as HeadUnit server?

Also Google is going to release an update of the official android auto so it will be officially possible to use one device as a server (as I told before).

What do you guys think?

EDIT: this is my first post here so I'm sorry if it's in the wrong area or if this has been discussed about before.. :D

You could also consider the AutoMate app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... mate&hl=de
Which is basically designed for this very purpose, and it runs at least on the C2

Thanks for the heads up!

The problem is, tho, that the device should get the 3G/4G signal / network from my android phone, if possible. And GPS.

That is what Android Auto and the HeadUnit apps do, AutoMate seems not to do it? Do you think would the HeadUnit app run on C2 too?

Curious if you ever got this to work? I am looking to replace my vehicles OEM Navi with an Odroid C2 + VU7Plus or VU8C (depending on which fits better) + HiFi 2. Running Android Auto would be ideal.
