about boot media

Unread post by bzb » Fri Apr 20, 2018 7:47 am

Other than booting up the odroid, is the boot media also used as a harddrive? If the boot media is used also as a harddrive, then the larger the better right?
I would like some opinions regarding what size of boot media to purchase. 8GB,16GB,32GB,etc if the odroid is used:
1)as a desktop for general everyday use(eg. working with documents, emails, browser, entertainment center)
2)as a webserver
Thanks

It is used as your system hard drive essentially, the larger the drive the better.

I usually go with 32GB and large files go to an NFS or SMB share. If you plan on storing large files and you don't have a NAS or external USB drive you may want to go larger.

You want a card that is at least UHS-1 Class 10, personally I use Samsung EVO or SanDisk Ultra.

Samsung 32GB 95MB/s (U1) MicroSD EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME32GA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWN9Q99

or

Sandisk Ultra 32GB Micro SDHC UHS-I Card with Adapter - 98MB/s U1 A1 - SDSQUAR-032G-GN6MA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073JWXGNT

I use both of these and have had no issues with either.
