Having grown up as a sort of adrenaline junkie rib injuries are nothing new. A little over a year ago I swear I tore the meat off one on my side, worst rib pain I've ever had. A couple days ago I bumped the same spot and it hurts just as bad as last year.

A fractured rib should have fused by now... You should get an xray to troubleshoot further...

Yeah, that's what's odd. I did the usual last year, ace bandage, 6-8 weeks (took more like 10 to feel better) and it's been fine since.
Then Wednesday I remember bumping it on something and the following morning it was excruciating.

You should have that looked at at your next revision... When I fell off a chair a couple of months ago (I was an idiot, using a chair with wheels to reach somd lego on top of a drawer), my wife sent me to get an examination (luckly they didn't examine my head :D). At least you know what the problem is instead of going in blind...

4 hours in windows to get some simple software loaded. I can't believe my fist didn't find it's way through the monitor.
I can't possibly accurately describe, even with many 4 letter words my dislike for windows.

Just bought a new (2021 built) house near Houston, Texas. Decided to move here for the weather (seriously). A "major disaster" winter storm here is like a normal winter's day in Colorado. Gas is a lot cheaper here too. Was $2.29/gal at the New Caney Walmart just a few days ago. Paid $3.09 in Pueblo, Colorado a day earlier. Funny how the gas companies never get accused of "gouging" though, just the guy selling homemade hand sanitizer on a street corner. Clearly he's the problem! 🤑

I've been thinking about coming down that way too. Winters in the snow belt along the great lakes can be brutal. We don't get the hail like Colorado though.

I'm getting old... used to love winter, was even a member of the National Ski Patrol in my youth. Now snow just chills me to my bones. And have you seen real estate prices in Florida? $150,000 gets you a mobile home in a trailer park, with lot rent. I'm sure that's Trump's fault somehow. 🙄 Anywho, so far Texas has been great. I hear there's an active LUG in Houston too. Will have to check that out once I get settled in.

Out of curiosity - what are your houses mainly built of? Concrete/bricks or drywall? I'm asking because most US-based diy videos show drywall while here, in eastern europe we only get reinforced concrete, which is a joy to remodel once it's set in...

Great lakes region is typically wood, siding ,drywall, asphalt shingles with a basement and attic. Older homes are often plaster walls- batt & lathe. There are a number of brick houses too.
Things vary across the country. I've seen slate shingles further west.

All the new houses I looked at were "concrete slab foundation" with brick facades. That seems to be a popular construction method in warmer climates. I ended up going with Rausch Coleman as the builder mainly because I liked the floorplan and optional 9' ceilings. I lived in a $1000/month closet in San Francisco so really wanted a wide-open space.

My local Chinese restaurant switched from steamed to fried Dumplings. I'm still a wreck from Taco Bell's double whami where they removed the Meximelt and Mexican Pizza from their menu.

I noticed holes inbetween bricks at the base of my house and was going to buy mortar to fill them in (to keep pests out) when I was informed that they're "weep holes". Apparently when your "brick house" is just one layer of brick veneer, you need these holes for drainage and air circulation. So now I'm paying the bug guy $99 every three months to spray in all the stoopid little holes.

Learned me sumptin' new.

That's about the only nice thing about living in the land of the ice and snow, six months without bugs and Harley Davidsons.
