Warranty & RMA

Unread post by odroid » Wed Mar 13, 2013 9:16 pm

Below Warranty/RMA terms are clearly described in our official Store/Order page.

Warranty period
Board style product (X/X2/U2/U3/XU/XU3/XU4/HC1/HC2/W/C1/C2/N2) : 4 weeks
Accessories : 2 weeks

During Warranty Period
Shipper should pay for the shipping cost in any case for RMA.
You need to pay for the shipping cost from your country to our office, and Hardkernel pay for the shipping cost from Korea back to your country.
Hardware damage by any user's mistake is not covered by warranty.

After Warranty Period
RMA requester should pay for the shipping cost for both way. The shipping cost for return is $20~25.00 by Fedex/UPS/EMS.
The products might not be fixed if the hardware damage is serious (i.e., CPU/PMIC/PCB is broken permanently)
Note there might be additional service charge if the hardware need any rework/repair process.

If you need a RMA process, please contact "odroid at hardkernel dot com"

Please note that..
We've shipped a lot of ODROID boards and we've got about 0.2~0.3% of RMA rate.
But ~50% of RMA had no hardware issue of boards. So real defective rate is less than 0.2%.
So you need to try everything you can do before RMA to save time and cost.
Check your cable, power supply unit(PSU), OS flashing, bad flash storage and so on. We will help you to check them.

If you buy from resellers or distributors, you need to follow their RMA/Warranty policy.

RMA means "Return merchandise authorization".
Sometimes it also means "Returned product for repaire or replacement" too.

Warranty is well described in dictionary. ;)

The warranty is the document that offers you protections against product defects.

An RMA is an authorization that the company providing the warranty gives you if all other methods to fix a problem have been exhausted and it is determined that the only way to fix it is to have you send it in for repair. In order to make a claim against the warranty, Hardkernel wants to try to help you fix the problem first, and if that doesn't work, they will give you an RMA. You can't send the product back for warranty service until you are granted the RMA.
ODROID Boards: U2, X2, XU+E rev.2
Accessories: VU, Smart Power, 13" LCD Kit (for the X2)

Hi guys, since I am requesting RMA for my Odroid-U3. Can you guys tell me and for everyone since I haven't found this info anywhere how is the customs duty going to work? I mean when you will return it, it should have an RMA label on that confirming its not a new product isn't it? Or just so that it won't cost us the duty again, do you guys mark it as gift?

The RMA return will be sent as gift with the invoice value of $15.00. It wouldn't cost the duty again. And if your customs request any evidence of the return, you need provide the evidence of your shipping information to Hardkernel.
