GET-BOARD: Couldn't identify your board ODROID-XU4

Unread postby Linuxghost » Thu Dec 07, 2017 11:23 pm

Hallo,
I've hooked my odroid xu4 with pre-installed linux on to a Toshiba TV. (It's a 40TL838 that doesn't do correct EDID on HDMI.)
After the commands described on the little paper (the 4 apt-gets and the reboot) nothing but green/red flickering lines and then Xorg segfaults and keeps looping.
I have installed the odroid-utility shellscript but that fails with "GET-BOARD: Couldn't identify your board ODROID-XU4 please report on the forums"
So.... here I am reporting
I hope to get this small computer up and running soon!

TIA

odroid utility is deprecated. You should do
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install linux-image-xu3 bootini uboot

When asked tell it that you know what you're doing :)

Need to install an additional package to fix the lagging mouse cursor issue.
Code: Select all
sudo apt install xserver-xorg-video-armsoc ffmpeg

Thank you for the fast reply Odroid and Mad_ady. :D
I have solved the Xorg problems with an other HDMI Cable. Looking at ubuntu MATE right now :!: ?
@mad_ady bootini and uboot were already installed. But without odroid-utility how can I "Update udev rules for ODROID subdevices" ?
@odroid; I hoped this would help for Kodi also, but I get 2 dbus-errors ERROR: DBus: Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.InvalidArgs - Geen eigenschap ‘CanSuspend’ and "CanHibernate" and ERROR: failed to initialize egl display and ERROR: Failed to find matching visual. Must have something to do with updating the udev rules.
