HOWTO: GameSir G3s Gamepad over Bluetooth

Post by crashoverride »

The GameSir G3s supports Bluetooth in addition to the wireless dongle. However, there is a trick to making it work with Linux.

1) Enter pairing mode on the gamepad by holding R1 and then holding X and HOME (the "g" button). This special mode is required to get it to report events. It is only necessary once and will be remembered until a different mode is set.
2) Pair using a GUI or the "bluetoothctl" command. It is important that immediately after successful pairing, a "connect" to device is made. This typically does not happen when using MATE desktop or "bluetoothctl". The controller should rumble after connecting to indicate success.

You can verify the controller is working and reporting events using the "evtest" command.
