Help Desktop view online

Post by m4f2g » Sat May 23, 2020 3:23 am

Is there a solution, not to get tortured by webseits and searchengines like google to use a mobile version of there webservices?
Thats a real pain, especially online banking and stuff like that, simulating a am64 or x86 environment?

just as a note.
Kernel 4.14 reduces overall gaming performance about 15% compared to Kernel 3.10, which is the reason why the image comes with Kernel 3.10.
If your main focus is desktop applications, Kernel 4.14 is fine and might actually perform better.

Also, I highly suggest using Chromium as a browser, as it has hardware acceleration with OpenGL ES and even WebGL support, which is not the case with FireFox.
I also never had a "Mobile" version on Chromium either, it's always showing the Desktop version for me.

Great, it performs better Now. Im using ffmpeg lame and yt-dl alot, so its not a pity have 15% performance loss.
Just for interest, which one performs better? 18.04.3 (lite) or jessie 8.11 4.14/3.10 ?

Depends on your usecase.
Ubuntu doesn't even have a Kernel 3.10 option anymore.
So gaming performance is less good.
Desktop performance I have no clue, it's been a long time since I compared Ubuntu and Debian.
I used Debian as back then with Debian Wheezy the performance was much better than Ubuntu, but that was a long time ago.

In my opinion performance is pretty much similar, but it boils down to software support, and that kinda stops on Ubunut with Kodi, if you search for other applications and games you won't find any specifically for the ODROID.
If it doesn't work from the Ubuntu repository as is, then you can't run it.
I ported hundreds of applications and games to Debian, so it overall has the better software support I'd say.

There are also newer OSes available, Debian Stretch and Debian Buster, although I don't have gaming images specifically for that yet.
