[GUIDE] Windows 8 ODROID Driver Installation

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has struggled to install the "odroid_xp_composite_driver" on Windows 8 but don't get discouraged, it's rather easy.

Windows 8 will detect the Odroid and install it's own drivers, it even names the device "Odroid" in Device Manager.

Disclaimer: Disabling the driver signature enforcement is not recommended and should be used at your own risk, as it may allow malicious software to compromise your system.

To install the Odroid XP Composite Driver:

- Power on your Odroid and let it boot up.
- Plug the micro USB cable in and let Windows install the drivers.
- Download and extract odroid_xp_composite_driver.zip from here: http://com.odroid.com/sigong/nf_file_bo ... ag=&bid=22

(VERY IMPORTANT, TAKE A PHOTO OR WRITE DOWN THESE STEPS, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SEE THEM WHEN CHANGING THE FOLLOWING SETTINGS)

- Move your cursor over the right edge of the screen to bring up the menu, hit the "Settings" icon.
- Select "Change PC Settings".
- Choose "General".
- Scroll to the bottom and select "Restart Now" under the Advanced Settings section.
- Select "Troubleshoot".
- Select "Advanced Options".
- Select "Startup Options".
- Select "Restart Now".
- When the computer restarts, select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement".

- Boot into Windows.
- Open Device Manager (Control Panel > Device Manager).
- In the Device Manager, look for "Odroid" in "Other Devices".
- Right Click "Odroid" and select "Update Driver Software".
- From the menu that pops up, select "Browse my computer for driver software".
- Click browse and navigate to the "odroid_xp_composite_driver" folder that you extracted earlier.
- Click "OK", then click "Next".
- Let the driver install, it should be called "Hard Kernel Android Composite ADB interface".

DONE!!!


To check if the install went properly:

- Download the Android Debug Bridge (adb.exe) from: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
- Extract the files and navigate to the folder where "adb.exe" is located.
- Hold the SHIFT key and right click anywhere in the folder, then choose "Open command window here".
- In the command prompt, type: adb devices
- You should see something like: BABABEEFBABABEEF

Thanks for this Bryan. Being a newcomer to Windows 8, it wasn't immediately apparent to me how to re-enable driver signature checking after doing this.
http://www.isunshare.com/windows-8/how- ... d-8.1.html suggests that the checking is automatically re-enabled after a subsequent reboot, but there's a bcdedit command you can use if you want to be sure.
