It would have been nice to write on the description of the U3 that the Android OS has not the Google certification ...

I'm actually doing the update to Android 4.4.4 and I hope I will be able to install the Google Play easily with this topic ... otherwise I won't be happy to have lost 200€ ...

No dev board will ever get this certification.. its implied on the fact that its a dev board and not a consumer product.

Search the forums for the "1 Click Gapps Installer"

Or google it. http://codewalkerster.blogspot.com.br/2 ... r-for.html

Yes thanks.

I was able to install the Gapps even if it seems that there is a "time problem": I have an "error" message from Google at the startup (but it seems to work well).

In order to install Google apps you need to perform following steps;

(If you didn't already install)download and install odroid adb driver : http://com.odroid.com/sigong/nf_file_board/nfile_board_view.php?keyword=&tag=&bid=22

Download android sdk; cause we need Android Debug Bridge (adb.exe) : http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

Download gapps;
for ICS => http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120422-signed.zip
for JB => http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip

extract zip files and copy system folder to the folder where adb.exe is located. In order to copy files to your odroid box;
Code: Select all
adb remount

then execute following command;
Code: Select all
adb push system /system

That's all :)

Hi,

I have an ODROID XU-3 and I am running android 4.4.4. I tried these steps to install google play. But soon after I push the system from gapps, I keep getting the message prompt "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped working" and once I press "Ok", I get the same message again and so on.
Is there any other way I can install Google Play Store application on Odroid XU-3?

Thanks.

The "1-click installer for Android 4.4.2" works with XU3 Android 4.4.4 update.

The easiest way to do this is to download the GApps Installer apk file, move it to where Android can see it and then use Android to do all the work. That way you don't have to figure out how to use anything fancy. Pick the right link for your version below and download it. Copy the Gapps Installer apk file to a usb memory stick formatted with the default FAT32. Put the memory stick into a USB slot on the Odroid-C1+ and power up Android. Use the Ultra Explorer app to navigate to the apk file, storage/udisk0. Long press the file and pick copy or cut to get the file onto the micro sd card. User Ultra Explorer to navigate to storage/sdcard0/Download and paste the apk file there. It won't work if you try to install it from the usb stick, you have to move it to the micro sd card. Then click it and install. Once GApps Installer is installed, it's a normal Android app. Click it and it does it's work in less than 5 minutes. When it's finished, it reboots.

I just went to http://opengapps.org/ and downloaded the ARM, 5.1, micro version (I have Android 5.1). Then I opened the ODROID utility app and clicked "Package install from storage"; selected "File Manager", went to Download folder and selected the downloaded package "open_gapps-arm-5.1-micro-20170829.zip". The last step was to click process and wait for my C1+ to reboot.

Once you find the APK, click on it. There may be a box that pops up depending on the apps you have installed on your device asking which app you want to use. If this is the case, click “Package Installer”. On the next screen, read over any permission changes (there usually aren't any) and then click install
