Two questions regarding the new Odroid-C1:

1) Are there any changes to address the USB audio capture issues reported in other the Odroid Forum postings, including thread
http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f ... 459#p96080
2) What is the new price expected to be?

1) Frankly speaking, we have no idea how to fix the issue of USB audio-input problem on some USB sound cards.
2) It will be US$38 or $37 including the heat sink.

I knew the price increase would be minimal, way to go Hard Kernel.

Any reason for including the heatsink ? Running my C1 24/7 with a load of 0.5-0.6 the CPU temp is a fairly steady 37 deg C

When the ambient temperature is higher than 35C with a plastic case, the CPU temp could be 85+ deg C.
This issue could be easily reproduced when we ran the Kodi for one hour with our official plastic case.
It seems the GPU/VPU could cause a lot of heat.
We could keep the CPU temperature lower than 70C with the heat sink at the same test condition.

So the name will be the C1+?

Or is that just something to toss around and see how it feels in the office?

In the pic of the back side, just above the middle there's a couple components at 45degree angle. What are those? I think it's labeled X3 and U17. Just curious.

Thanks Hardkernel, I'm looking forward to my C1+.

X3 is a Crystal Oscillator (that's obivious by the look and the X on the naming.)

U17 in the other hands, looks like a transistor to me, but may be something else and its labeled U so its a Integrated Circuit part. Transistors are normally labeled with a Q.
Lets wait for what odroid tell us :P

EDIT: 3 pin IC can be power regulator (dc-dc).

EDIT2: Found it. Its a voltage dectector from Torex ;)

Yes. Its official name is the C1+.
U17 is a Voltage Detector which is used for the system reset. :)

Ameridroid.com is taking preorders for the C1+. Of course, international shipping can involve additional expense and delay from import duties or customs fees, but the shipping price is kept as low as possible. For most countries, the shipping starts at $19.95.

Wylee_Kiot wrote:So ferrari should drop their price since i can import 2 yugo's for the same price? The Raspberry Pi and Odroid c1 are not the same hardware just as both cars drive they aren't the same. Yes many people use them to do the same things but the hardware of the c1 is much better than that of the Raspberry Pi.
Sorry but this comment has no sense.

I am a C1's fan (buyed more units), I'm hoping to see an evolution (C2 ??) with S905, and probably I will buy also one or more C1+ (of course selling before C1 normal).
And this post is not a criticism to HK price, but only on your comments.

Raspberry pi 2 is for you a yugo car, but it exists also Orange Pi mini 2 with:
  • Four A7 at 1600MHz much better than four A5 at 1500MHz (30% faster and with virtualization support)
  • HDMI type D (like C1+ or Raspy2) with working out of the box CEC
  • 4K H264 and H265 support (reproduction downscaled to full hd)
  • Camera connector absent on C1
  • CBVS output with 4 poles A/V jack like raspberry
  • On board microphone
  • WiFi on board (optional)
On the paper C1 seems superior only for RTC battery, GigaEth and eMMC slot, but Orange Pi Mini 2 costs only 25usd (without wifi, 30usd with wifi) with slow shipment available at 2-3usd.

If C1 is a Ferrari, Mini 2 is a Lamborghini.

Here in Italy I can have 1 Raspberry 2 for for 44 euro (48 usd) including shipment or 6 for 42E each (always including shipment), 1 Orange Pi Mini 2 for 27 usd (25E) including shipment (and with so low price no custom fees).
But if i want C1, I must purchase at least 6 of them to pay each near 47-48E (including shipment) because if I buy only one it costs more than 63E (like 69usd) and it also needs a converter for micro-hdmi and a dedicated power-supply cable (other 6-10E).

No tracking or insurance available :( How it work? If I not receive, I can not call for him? By luck?

They are working on adding DHL as another option, but it takes time to get all the accounts and logistics worked out. Of course, DHL is more expensive but also much quicker. If you have an international shipping account, they will ship it using your service of choice right now.

This board revision is great news. Just wanted to say thanks to HardKernel for continuing to advance their product lines: first the Odroid XU4 and now the Odroid C1+. Their years of experience show in these great new board designs and accessories.

Also wanted to say thanks to AmeriDroid for being a fantastic USA distributor. The shipping prices are unbeatable (here in the USA) and they offer such a good assortment of boards and accessories making them a "one stop" shopping experience.

I look forward to continued business with both of you!

It works with the famous Volumio and RuneAudio OS.

C1+ and its accessories will be available from August 11th. I believe Pollin will sell it at the same time frame.

C1+ will be $37 including the heat sink (will be bundled).
The HiFi Shield price is not confirmed yet.

The HiFi shield doesn't use any 40pin GPIO pins. It uses only 7-pin header of the dedicated I2S interface.
You can access full 40pin header.

We considered it when we develop the XU4 schematics. It is the main reason there is a separated 12pin I2S header on the XU4.
But we heard that many HiFi manias don't like the fan noise when they enjoy the lossless music. So we suspend the project of XU4 DAC board.
If there are enough demand of HiFi add-ons for XU4, we will consider it again.
Still strongly recommend the C1+ for the HiFi music phile server.

I've been searching around about the ODROID C1+'s addition of the I2S header and HiFi DAC shield board.

I might of missed it, but does anyone know if that combination is compatible with Android??

The HiFi DAC Shield is not compatible with Android at this moment. It works only at 44.1khz sample rate.

This is great info! I currently use I a similar board on a different SBC and love it. I look forward to this new board.

Just a thought... if you're doing a dedicated audio device would the XU4 really need a fan? I understand that CPU intense/GPU intense things quickly raise the temp but audio play and a network stack shouldn't. You are right though, nobody who want's audio quality will want a fan.

FYI - in the USA what you call "HiFi manias" we call "audiophiles".

No. We have no plan to support 192Khz/24bit audio framework for Android.
