Forum server was dead during the Christmas holidays

Post by odroid »

Our forum server in a large scale data center was completely down in the past few days.
We've used a HPE(Hewlett Packard Enterprise) DL360 Gen10 1U which has an Intel Xeon Silver 4214 12 core processor with 64GB DDR4-ECC RAM and two 500GB SAS SSD from early last year.
It has run quite well. But, on Christmas Eve morning, the power supply was completely broken suddenly.
We've replaced it with a new PSU today (Monday in KST) and the forum is online again now.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

I think we should add another backup server to build a concurrent system.
We've ordered the same server and we will mount it into the server rack early next year.

You don't have to answer, just curious,
what load does the forum receive (concurrent users, page views per day, etc.) to require this hardware?

I'm guessing this was not the only task of this server.

Average CPU load is around only 15~25%. That server is hosting this forum, wiki pages and many pictures for our web-store.
But, sometimes the load went over 60% when we launched new products.
