Debian Wheezy

Unread post by basti122303 » Mon Feb 25, 2013 8:20 pm

I have Build a Debian Image using the latest Ubuntu SD-Card (http://dn.odroid.com/Ubuntu_X/20130215/ linux-3.0.63-odroidx_20130215.tar.gz) Image
and the rootfs from this http://www.4-shared.eu/download/3FtQjaP ... an-R2.html.

Some files I still used from ubuntu like:
  • /usr/src
  • /lib/modules
  • /etc/smsc95xx_mac_addr
  • ... (will be completed)

Kernel Version is 3.0.63.
All is run fine.

Now I try to start the X-Server but there were some errors so i try to
copy /usr/lib/xorg/* and /etc/X11 from ubuntu to wheezy image but this also fail with the following errors:

Since the error is the fbdev driver, not mali ones, you must use debian own fbdev driver.

Thanks now it's running after chnage xorg.conf to /dev/fb6.

My next problem is to install mali-packages.
This are build against libc6 (2.15).
Debian only has libc6 (2.13-38).

So would it be possible to build mali-packages on Debian Wheezy by Hardkernel or someone else (e.g. mdrjr)?

Is this the same packages as this one released by hardkernel?
for example i cant find a file called "libUPM" witch is include in the ubuntu packages.

Is this driver for 3D acceleration like the ubuntu one?

EDIT:

I try to build with autogen.sh and get this errors:

Please refer to our original drivers. And remember that in order that you can distribute it you must include the EULA.

A device like /dev/ump exists so i think the kernel stuff is ok. (?)

so i try copy libMali.so and libUMP.so (include there links) provided by mali400_2.1-13_armhf.deb to /usr/lib/.
after that mali_drv.la and mali_drv.so where build successful and installed to /usr/lib/xorg/modules/driver.
I also copy the hardkernel 10-hkl_mali.rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/.

Where is the source file of libMali.so and libUMP.so to rebuild this in debian environment?
How can i test that the driver is working?
glmark is not available on debian.
would be glxgears an alternative?

libUMP is open and you can found it on Mali Developer site.

libMali is closed source.

It fails on something related to OpenGL... that is unsupported by Mali.

Hey basti122303,

any news about this? Would be nice, if you would share your image if 3d with xorg is working. :-)

I have no time yet to complete.
You can have my Image with the Framebuffer driver.
I think its well documented above to get your own skills and perhaps you can fix the openGL error?
I don’t know if glmark_es must build explicit against GLES, documented on http://dev.odroid.com/projects/opengles-linux/#s-7%20 and if its also true for the X-server.

So at the moment i just use the ubuntu image with lxde.

OK, I will try my best. And yes, its well documented above. Would be nice to get this running as good as in Ubuntu.

In general I would prefer a small debian image with ssh, mali (+ extra debs eula thing ...) and xorg plain and nothing more. And I think this would be interesting for other odroix-users.

After that i have replace the rootfs.

Great, Thank you for support this "project" and let me know about updates ;)

Succesfully built and booted 3.0.68 from github with make odroidx_ubuntu_mali_defconfig using this manual
http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=81

But dmesg | grep mali gives me nothing with that kernel.

With the kernel from linux-3.0.63-odroidx_20130215.tar.gz I get:

Code: Select all

You got mesa doing it not mali..

Probably either you didn't removed mesa-egl folder or the driver install failed at some point.

Yes, its there from the provided debs. You said libUMP.so is open, do I have to compile it in order to get it work?

I modified the following debs from here with ar.
http://dn.odroid.com/MALI400_R3P2/20130222/

Changes:

Code: Select all

mali400_2.1-13_armhf.deb
changed libc6 in the depends to libc6 (>= 2.13-38)

mali400-dev_2.1-13_armhf.deb

This is because your xorg is 1.13+ Xorg drivers from Mali doesn't support that :)

But I get no HDMI output.

I also try with an other boot.scr, so I backup the original and rename the "1080" one to boot.scr (also the txt file).
I only think i have also done is

Code: Select all

echo ttySAC1 >> /etc/securetty
echo "s0:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty -L ttySAC1 115200 vt102" >> /etc/inittab
To get Console-Login on serial port.

So can it be that the Xserver runs on false display?
Or whats wrong there?

p.s. I have try my leatest image with framebuffer (documented above) and there is HDMI output.

EDIT

Code: Select all

I get it working on my odroid-x with kernel 3.0.63 (see http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f ... 9269#p9269)
The glmalk2-es2 results are bad in fullscreen mode.
So I try the latest version on http://code.google.com/p/odroid-wheezy- ... tedDevices
http://code.google.com/p/odroid-wheezy- ... /ChangeLog

This is build against kernel 3.0.79 but on http://builder.mdrjr.net/kernel-3.0/ there are only 3.0.80 kernels.

Mdrjr can you please release a 3.0.79 kernel for odroid-x?
I try the 3.0.80 kernel but the network device is no working, and all 4 usb next to network are also no working
(try to switch on my mouse which is working on the other ports).
The smsc95xx module is load.

I've had a issue with ethernet on debian wheezy.. However I didn't payed time to see it.

Its working fine on our Ubuntu.. It may be a udev problem on wheezy.

I have rebuild the modules and now the Ethernet is working with mdrjr latest kernel (3.0.80) and odroid-wheezy-retro 0.0.7.
But i have an other Problem, I can't boot a self compiled Kernel.
All my images stops working here:

Code: Select all

Starting kernel ...
Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel.
I don't know whats going on.
mdrjr can you please release a kernel with swap supoort?

Your problem is most likely toolchain/compiler issue.

What should i do to fix this?
I use the image and the Kernel above to native compile like

Code: Select all

 get source from git
 make ARCH=arm odroidx_ubuntu_mali_defconfig
 make ARCH=arm -j5 zImage
 make -j5 modules
 make modules_install
 depmod -a
