Thanks for investigating! Just wanted to +1 on the freezing. Just happened to me playing Kirby's adventure, and had happened before with a couple other games, didn't think it was related to the OS until I saw the messages. I'm on the 20230430 build
Well the clock speed changes weren’t added until early May so doesn’t seem to be related if you are still on a late April build.
Doh you're right turns out I ran update at one point. I'm on 20230502

New update available:

Notable changes / bug fixes:
  • Adjust cpu & gpu clock rates to decrease / eliminate system lock ups & freezes
  • Add Nintendo 3DS - Citra emulator with vulkan support (experimental, many games are broken) Also make sure to set the renderer to vulkan in the ES options for citra.

My initial testing shows the update did help with the lockups and freezes. Will update if anything new happens. Thanks for the hard work brooksytech.

Is anyone using the Moonlight feature at all?
I gave it a shot today, paired successfully with GeForce Experience, populated ES with gamelist, but on launch the screen blips black and goes back to ES.
Looked around for logs with no luck, ran journalctl while I launched but nothing of interest there:

Code: Select all

Anyway, was just curious if others tried it out. Thanks in advance

Hi.
I installed JELOS 20230610.
Put the gamecube game rom(Mario Kart - Double Dash!! (USA).iso) file in the /storage/roms/gamecube directory and run it.
But key input don't work.
Changing the gamecube emulator from DEFAULT to RETROARCH: DOLPHIN made the problem go away.
It would be nice to be able to enter the key in the DEFAULT emulator?(maybe DOLPHIN: DOLPHIN-SA-GC).
how can i solve it?

Looks like there is a bug that if no control profile is selected than controls dont work at all. I will fix this for the next release.

But to fix in the short term while in the gamecube sub menu press select (top left function button) -> Advanced System Options -> Gamecube Controller Profile -> Select one of the 3 options other than default.

thanks.
The problem of not being able to input keys has been fixed.
But I found another problem.
The gamecube emulator is DEFAULT(DOLPHIN: DOLPHIN-SA-GC).
'Mario Kart - Double Dash!! (USA).iso' the graphics don't work. Menus and character selection graphics are well displayed. However, when the race starts, it is displayed in very dark graphics. Almost invisible.

Mario Kart doesnt work with the vulkan backend. Set the graphics backend to opengl. You may find this to be the case with other games as well. There are several emulation station options available for the dolphin emulator that you can tweak at the system or game level to make games work the best.

Just a FYI. This issue also occurs on PC with NVIDIA/AMD/Intel graphics. Therefore, its not a graphics driver (Mali) issue but an emulator issue.

Hey, thanks for taking a look into this. I updated to 20230614 but unfortunately get the same behavior (click on game, blips black, back to ES). Thought maybe it might my network since jelos doesn't find GFE unless I specifically put in the IP address, but I tried moonlight android version on my phone and that seems to work. If you have any troubleshooting tips I'll give those a go. Cheers

I just tested an an atari 800 game with no problem. Maybe try a different bios?

Here is the retroarch documentation on the 800/5200. https://docs.libretro.com/library/atari800/

Hello all,
Unfortunately I am getting random freezing of the system again. I can't really see any consistency in when this is happening. Sometime it freezes when I am in a system menu looking through the game list and sometimes it freezes in a game. I have updated to the latest release but no help. Does anyone have ideas on what is going on?

Thanks

Hello,

I also tested Moonlight with 20230712 release. To be precise, moonlight is working well on my phone and other devices. I can confirm that when launching any entries of Moonlight, it goes black and returns to Moonlight menu just after.
By ssh, i modified the launch script with -debug and to redirect log on a file. Here is the error message:
"SDL: could not create window - exiting'
And for the other part of the log it is just the server answer that gives the possible resolutions.

I havent been able to get it to work either but I am not super familiar with moonlight. I might just have to remove the option on this device if no one else can get it working.

One possible solution is to include the "-debug" option in your startup scripts, as you have already done, and redirect the log output to a file. This will help get more information about the problem, and you may be able to find additional clues in the log as to what is causing the problem. By the way I know you are a gambling enthusiast, I've been sitting on https://betwinner.global/registration/ lately straight emotions come out every day) However, since you mentioned that you are not very familiar with Moonlight, troubleshooting this problem may be a bit difficult for you. If you have not been able to resolve this issue, and other users have not reported success in resolving the problem, you can remove this option from the device for now.

Moonlight should now be hidden from the menu on the latest release. We can gladly add it back in if someone gets it working.

I can confirm this, I'll look into it. We just switched to pipewire, so there may be a few bugs. We'll get them worked out. :)

It's working fine here, could be something in your configuration. Try deleting /storage/.local/state and /storage/.config/asound*, and rebooting.

What helped me was the following:

In the main menu under the sound settings deactivate the music - frontend music and activate it again.

After that the sound was back.

I have tested it, deactivate the music - frontend music and activate it again solved the problem. Thanks!

But when I restart the system, I must do the same trick again. Otherwise no sound output.

I installed 20230820.
Fortunately, the mono audio speakers work.
However, the audio volume seems to be low compared to the 20230804 version.
The audio volume is 100%, but it sounds like the volume is 50% lower than the 20230804 version.
Is everyone else's audio okay?

Another thing you can try is leaving the frontend music disabled. I just tried it on my own and it worked fine after the restart with the frontend music deactivated.

There was an update today. With the new update, the problems with the sound no longer exist. At least I don't have any more problems.

Another issue, there is an issue of random crash sometimes, I've detected this happens more often after an abrupt shutdown, when forcing by pressing the poweroff button until shutdown, or when the battery runs out.
I'm trying to get some dmesg logs from the moment when this happens but IDK if some other logs could be useful, please advice.
PD. The crash behavior could be stopping the games and returning back to the main menu, or sometimes just gets stuck inside the games and need to press poweroff button to force shutdown.

Hello, finally able to get the logs of the random crash issues, at least for the dolphin emulator.
Attaching logs from the moment of the issue and after, additionally after the crash couldn't run any gamecube or wii game.
Tested with the last release (20230826).
Hope it helps.

Hello all,

I am facing audio output issue from 20230831 and newer releases. The sound is very loud and with crackles, I can hardly recognized the background music. It is the same in game, and I cannot find any woraround, disabling frontend music do nothing.

Try adjusting the audio latency in games settings.

I tried to adjust the value, the defaut one is at 40. Changing the value I can hear a difference but there are still a lot of crackles..

Should I try to reinstall ?

Set it to 64.

Absolutely no difference with 64. None of the proposed values fix this audio issue.
