Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
saturn solved ( I had only the bin, I inclued the cue and works ok, i had to include bios with recovery metod, in SD is it possible to include in bios folder the saturn bios? I tried without success.)Slaminger wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 5:17 amyou are very welcomesinplague wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 8:47 pmA little "bugs":
Nintendo DS: When I press R2 the screen goes white and can't play (it freezes).
Saturn: Doesn't appears on emulator list menu, I checked and the games are in correct format and in correct folder.
PSX strange problems: If I open a psx game and close it (by button upper ABXY or retroarch menu)and open it again (or another psx game), system freezes. If I shut down by button then and start handheld again it works again. I tried puting bios just in case but same result.
Restart EmulationStation: If I close the system shutting down OK, but if I restart it by menu QUIT - RESTART SYSTEM. It takes a lot of time on restart and open Emulationstation again, and a lot of time to exit the system before restarting.
Thanks for your hard work !
is that in 2.3.5 as well or only 2.3.6? I am m looking at saturn right now, it's for sure here, what format are your games? When i press R2 in Drastic, nothing happens at all. I cannot make the screen turn white. Also, i can exit PSX fine. I can't replicate these issues, besides restart taking longer than shut down does. What version are you on? what format is sd2?
thank you !

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
I'm missing BIOS files. I found a link ( https://github.com/Abdess/retroarch_system/releases/ ) to complete packs, I assume I'd use the Libreto pack?
How do I know which romsets to use for this emulator?
How can I customize the splash screen?
Thanks to everyone working on this!!!

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
To customize splash you replace the files in /usr/local/bin
Yes the retroarch pack will work, and yes you can put them in sd bios folder. Then run retrorun linker from settings. The only bios you need is Saturn in /opt/libretro/yabasanshiro if you want to use retrorun. Otherwise all on SD.

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
Update! Portmaster is working along with thememaster and will be in the next release, along with a few other additions. I had my son December 30th, his name is Simon. This is the reason for my temporary absence, but I'm slowly getting back to work on things now.

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
I have a question about 2.3.6.
It's about PC88(QUASI88).
About BIOS, it did not work with the following BIOS that worked with Retroarch (on PC), RetroPie, Batocera, etc.
N88.ROM
N88EXT1.ROM
N88EXT3.ROM
N88SUB.ROM
N88EXT0.ROM
N88EXT2.ROM
N88N.ROM
Checking the log, the requested BIOS has a different name
It seems that the file name must be for lr-quasi88.
Is it implemented differently for RA's PC88 than for the regular Retroarch?
Also, when I change the file name to the one for lr-quasi88 and load the PC88 core, normally from the Retroarch menu "Subsystem", I should be able to select up to 6-disk configurations, but Retroarch on RA only allows me to select 2-disk configurations.
Could you please confirm the above?

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
I can't get it to recognize CHD (and m3u for multi-CD games) files for PSX. It loads CHDs for PC Engine CD just fine. What do I need to change?

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
Solving my own problem: we need to change /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg so the "psx" section looks like this:
If you notice I've added ".m3u .M3U .chd .CHD". However, this file isn't directly exposed over MTP, but we can get at it through the file manager.
You need to do this (and this is also just a general tutorial for interacting with the filesystem):
Open the file manager and copy /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
Paste it in /home/odroid
Now we can get at it over MTP, as root:
# apt install jmtpfs
# jmtpfs /mnt
Now you should have something like /mnt/ODroid Go Ultra (I don't have it mounted right now to get the exact thing, but it will look like that). Edit /mnt/ODroid Go Ultra/Home/es_systems.cfg and make the necessary changes.
Now you need to copy that back to /etc/emulationstation. Delete the original /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg and paste the new one in place.
Now it should scan and load you CHD/M3U Playstation games! Please consider adding this to the releases!!! The best thing to do would be to just use RetroPie's es_systems.cfg.
<system>
<name>pcsx_rearmed</name>
<fullname>Sony PlayStation</fullname>
<path>/roms/psx/</path>
<extension>.m3u .M3U .chd .CHD .bin .BIN .pbp .PBP</extension>
<command>/usr/local/bin/retroarch -L /home/odroid/.config/retroarch/cores/pcsx_rearmed_libretro.so %ROM%</command>
<platform>psx</platform>
<theme>psx</theme>
</system>

With that out of the way, though, I have another problem: USB just flat out doesn't work. My USB WiFi dongle doesn't even turn on. Even a simple keyboard won't work, it seems the port is completely disabled. What's going on there, is there something I need to do?

Dolphin will not work at all (and GameCube and Wii need to be added to es_systems.cfg manually as I described above). The output:
No X11 display found
No platform found, or failed to initialize

will be added in next release in a few days. But no, using the RetroPie config won't work, their ES can't select a core/emu to launch games from the menu, its written differently. the extensions bit maybe.nickca wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 8:04 amSolving my own problem: we need to change /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg so the "psx" section looks like this:

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
In the next few days we plan to release an updated image! There have been several changes:
1. The kernel and DTB have been modified by Stephen to change the controller product ID, giving the OGU its own unique controller UUID.
2. Portmaster and Thememaster are now working.
3. Magnavox Odyssey and Megadrive MSU 1 added to the build.
4. The latest changes from HK to the kernel have been added, IE the SD card doesn't fail to mount with a reboot.
5. Gamecube restored to ES as per multiple user requests.
6. Fix RetroArch button layout, the circular buttons up top are now start and select, quit retroarch and launch menu are bottom left and bottom right grey keys.
7. updated es_systems.cfg with changes provided by users on the threat
8. Updated all underlying Ubuntu 22 deps/libs to latest releases.
There is still a few more things to be fixed before release, as changing the controller ID impacts retrorun and psp/drastic, we first need to fix these.

I didn't forget about this, will look at it once the base image is fully up and working, so in the next couple of weeks.mariovirgili wrote: ↑Sat Oct 22, 2022 7:18 amIs it possible to map retrorun keys differently when using shoot'em'up in Naomi?
i.e. Trizeal and Trigger Heart Exelica are unplayable because of wrong key mapping.
A solution could be made by compiling a new retrorun version with libretro.h modified so
#define RETRO_DEVICE_ID_JOYPAD_UP 6 /* up on dpad translate to left */
#define RETRO_DEVICE_ID_JOYPAD_DOWN 7 /* down on dpad translate to right */
#define RETRO_DEVICE_ID_JOYPAD_LEFT 5 /* left on dpad translate to down */
#define RETRO_DEVICE_ID_JOYPAD_RIGHT 4 /* right on dpad translate to up */
and use this modified retrorun only with SEU on Naomi/Atomiswave.
Thanks

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
The new controller ID is not used in this release as it breaks many things. We decided it was easier to get a fully functional build out to the users first, and then we would not be rushed to go back and fix everything.
Daphne and Openbor have been fixed and will be included in the next release. American Laser Games via hypseus-singe, will be in RC 2.3.7 V3 as I fixed it after releasing 2.3.7 V2, and I know people want to play those titles. Thanks to Christian Hatian for his help.
RC 2.3.7:
1. Updated kernel to latest version, SD stays mounted after reboot. Thanks to Stephen.
2. Restore Port and Theme master, thanks to Stephen from Retro Arena team.
3. Add Magnavox Odyssey
4. Add Megadrive MSU
5. Fix Retroarch button layout. the small circular buttons are select and start, bottom left grey key exits Retroarch, buttom right grey key opens menu.
6. Added user submissions to es_systems.cfg
7. Update deps/libs to latest versions.
8. Add Openbor
9. Add Hypseus(daphne f1+f3 are exit hotkey, f1 is bottom left grey key)
10. Add American Laster Games (SINGE, same hotkey as Hypseus).
To use American Laser Games, you place your Hypseus SINGE versions of the games into /roms/alg and then once they are there, go to options and run the script find games agl, once you return to emulationstation, simply restart emulationstation from the start menu, and you will be able to use the games.
NTFS is the advised format for your SD, however ExFat will also work.

Can I upgrade from 2.3.6 to 2.3.7 without having to copy all my roms over again? I have a USB Wifi dongle working but can't find a way to do online update. Thanks

i'm flashing the Retro Arena firmware on the eemc and keeping the roms on an sdcard (there is a prebuild folder tree on the archive) So you dont need to move roms again..

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
you simply reflash the image to your internal emmc, the roms are on your sd and they stay. you should however copy the folder structure included with the image inside the 2nd zip, as there are a few new folders added. the changelog will tell you exactly what has been added.
also use V4, just uploaded now.

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
Thanks, I assumed since the OGU only has 1 MicroSD that the CFW was on it and not in EMMC. Thanks for latest version.
Will have to flash onto a few devices now (don't remember each handheld as I have about 100 of them)
thanks again for quick support

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
Thanks for this great project! The last build runs very nice.
The stock version of the firmware has an option in Emulation station to adjust the screen brightness.
Can this be ported to the 'Retro Arena' version? The screen is now very bright, especialy when playing at night.

I believe you can just use F3+Up/Down to control it, and also F3+Left/Right to adjust volume.

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
I looked through the boot partition a bit and saw that there were folders called Wii...
Now my question is it possible to play Wii games on the OGU?

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
I just flashed 2.3.8V3, the latest available, and EmulationStation boots to an unusable text-only theme, and there's no option to change the theme set. And themes seem to install (USB works for me now), but they don't seem to "take", ThemeMaster doesn't see any themes installed at all. I'm going to try to reflash it again...
Edit: Flashed and verified again with Balena etcher. It boots to a theme of just grey text on a white band, and all the games are blue-on-blue with no way to discern which game is selected. This can't actually be on purpose, can it? Themes download with ThemeMaster but they don't install. Why do this?

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
Never mind, I see the problem. You've moved /etc/emulationstation/themes to a symlink to /roms/themes, and I didn't have that directory on my SD card because it wasn't necessary before. Anyone updating is also going to run into this issue.

Re: Retro Arena for OGU Development Thread
there is an sd structure on the archive to copy/paste on your sdcard with all your roms, bios and yes theme. You can download new theme connecting your ogu and using thememaster.
