That's awesome Daniel, I created a GitHub issue a long time ago about this problem but it was ignored.

Not only did it slow down, the quality or resolution would also diminish over time as well. At least it did.

True, after a while it looked like a retro style screensaver because the pixels got bigger and bigger

Guys, i have a problem with my new odroid M1 used for kodi. i follow the steps for kodi 64 bit under ubuntu server, but since i usually watch tv using pvr iptv simple client now i don't know how to install it.
I tried to compile it but i don't know what to do later on.
Can u help finding a solution? I prefer use iptv simple client since other addons can load the lists automatically.

          @all

New arm64 packages available to install:

          kodi-inputstream-rtmp
          kodi-inputstream-adaptive
          kodi-pvr-iptvsimple

Those packages are untested !! kodi-pvr-iptvsimple also recommends package kodi-inputstream-ffmpegdirect which I do not understand why it should be needed, plain ts file support is already working with internal FFmpeg of KODI displayed with zero copy method, if you need it for HLS streams without DRM protection it would be ok but I don't know how to test this because I don*t know a video source for it.

          @radamirez9, please test it

          Regards,

          Thanks a lot,
The installation works well on kodi 64 but some channels requires widevine and i start trying on kodi 32 bit following your steps.
          but the packages:
kodi-inputstream-rtmp is not able to install since it depends on kodi-api-inputstream
          and
          kodi-pvr-iptvsimple still depend on kodi-api-pvr

anyway if that requires time to you i can use the 64 bit version, u already help me building those packages.

Regards the steps for installing the 32 bit version.
                at point 10

                Code: Select all

                sudo - odroid
                i used

                Code: Select all

                 sudo su - odroid
idk if you mean that, but sudo - username is not valid right?
                since later there is also

                Code: Select all

                su odroid
inside the debian environment sudo is not installed.
so after adding your repo at point 9, we can install using

                Code: Select all

                apt install sudo
maybe can be useful for newer linux users

there should be a typo at point 2 chown instead of chmod
since for me the permissions did not change with the previous steps like u suggest.

at 5 there isn't anymore the folder alsa inside /usr/share
i created it, do you think it will works?

Thanks for improving the kodi experience on odroid M1, i will wait the 32 version of those packages.

Gamestreaming addon (Moonlight-Embedded+Luna launcher) available to install:
                        Preamble:
This is my first release of Gamestreaming on the M1 and I love it, in the video above you can see the new Uncharted Game for PC, which is previously released for the PlayStation and therefore made to play with a Gamepad and excellent to play on a large TV, to have a nice gaming experience a correct setup is mandatory !

So I don't forget to tell you that Gamestreaming on RockChip works extremely well, it's ultimately fast, you can reach a latency of ~25ms if not below, so if it feels laggy you may have missed a good setup, so here are some general rules for you

                          Useful settings:

                          1. Be sure to set your TV to game mode (in its picture mode menu) to reduce your TV's input latency. By default, my LG TV's "standard" picture processing adds like 200ms. You obviously want the fastest possible picture mode when gaming, to ensure real time latency. Otherwise the performance is bad it feels laggy and it's gonna be your TV
                            • You SHOULD go through the Moonlight settings to change bitrate and resolution, enable H.265 (HEVC) video, etc. But that's up to you and your particular setup/client app, etc. H265 codec has lower bandwidth on higher resolutions compared to H264 !
                              • You should also edit the "Video bitrate" setting in Moonlight. It defaults to just 20 Mbit (20000 Kbps), which is very low. It's just a "safe default" but it could give you a blurry image sometimes. If your network can handle it, you should raise it. I went with 50 Mbit.
                                • The video stream resolution defaults to 720p. You should definitely set that to 1080p, or higher if your HW can handle it, there is also a 1440p setting but it's not guarantied that it's supported by your GPU, other than that you can set custom resolutions there.

Ok just tell me how to install it !!:

sudo apt update && sudo apt install kodi-script-luna

                                Controller setup:

If you are pairing your controller with Bluetooth you have to enable HID protocol with user space library, kernel 4.19 doesn't support it if I am correct, edit /etc/bluetooth/input.conf and enable the line UserspaceHID=true, restart the service with sudo systemctl restart bluetooth.service and you should be able to pair your controller, of course this implies an already installed bluez package

                                How to use it ?:
From within KODI go to Games and then LUNA, the addon will start and suggest you to choose a startup script, there is only one profile to choose from and it's called odroid, after that you have to pair with your computer, find the pair menu inside LUNA's settings menu, it will guide you through the pairing process. Lastly do your codec, bitrate and video stream size setup, hit ok and you will get the list of available games from your computer (Gamestreaming has to be enabled on PC from within NVIDIA GeForce Experience)

                                  Happy Streaming,
                                  Daniel

Very nice, game mode is really important on some TV's. Especially Samsung in my experience.

Awesome, but I wasted a whole day binging bb24. But I woke up this morning and it's crashing. Stating read only file system regardless how many reboots. It can't write the crash log. No clue. Maybe I need to rebuild it again. Can I build this on an N1 instead?

Sounds like a defective file system ?

It would need slightly modifications for the plane selection to make it run on the N1, but all plugins (Gamestreaming, Screensavers etc.) would work out of the box

I'll rebuild it today, but I'll grab another emmc card in case that's what failed. Thank you again,

Thank you, you can enable web interface from within KODI (https://kodi.wiki/view/Web_interface) and you can control KODI from your cellphone, there are several remote control APP's for both iPhone and Android

With Sunshine https://github.com/LizardByte/Sunshine you could stream the output to any client but it wouldn't be easy to setup thought
