I did read the txt file, and I did an image copy with dd. I do not understand why there is the zst dot and if there should be the command zst in the linux os through which i give the dd command.
i do not have it and the resulted image did not work not even the flashing blu ....
any idea?

DD should be used if you previously zipped zstd -d and the output will be a file with the .img extension, the file with the .zst extension is written to the card using zstdcat as described in README.TXT

as to which package the zstdcat command in zstd is in.

there is also an option that this image will not boot because it was not tested (due to its absence) on the board itself.

no the problem is that I do not have the command to use with zst img....
why not using another command after .... even if is bigger the file after the compression and the size to downlòoad it and also the time.
Any way what is the default desktop under Slackware for arm?

thanks

in slarm64 the xfce desktop, the image with xfce is not created because there is no confirmation that the base image is working.

I do prefer to use mate or enlightenment actually, kde it would be nice but I could not compare as it is not simple to find a distro with it

yes, zstd to decompress, or zstdcat to write directly.

It's very nice of you to continue posting updates even though there seems to be little interest, just because no one posts doesn't mean no one is benefiting.

Thanks rooted,

Here is one moment, since there is no physical board, it is not clear whether it works or not.

@mara,
Have you received the developer's package?
Is your latest slarm64 image running fine on the C4 board with eMMC?

Yes,Thanks a lot, everything is perfectly transferred from the map by the transfer-to-disk script.

the work of the mainline bootloader and the loading of the legacy kernel 4.9.295 have also been tested.

Code: Select all

U-Boot 2021.10-meson-sm1 (Jan 03 2022 - 04:14:46 +0200) odroid-c4/hc4

Code: Select all

Linux odroid-c4 4.9.295 #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 31 21:50:18 EET 2021 aarch64 GNU/Linux

Thanks for the images. The latest one (server version) boots correctly on my HC4.

I only have an issue with the display when I connect the HC4 via HDMI to my TV. The upper, the lower and the left part of the framebuffer are cut off.
Using fbset I managed to make the lower part visible but not the part on the left (fbset -left and -move right didn't do anything). How can I change the default
frame buffer resolution?

simple solution: run with the monitor/TV turned off and turn it on a little later, when most of the loading has already passed and then the resolution will be correct.

Houston, I have a problem, the image is soooo large that the uncompressed image is 12 GB, but I only have an 8 GB emmc card for my Odroid c4.
Otherwise, I applaud the effort that this is the seemingly first distro for the Odroid C4 that uses Linux Kernel 6.x.
I just wonder how the hardware support and overlay support is, since I still need as many uarts as possible and pcf8563; furthermore, fast booting and correct audio and video with a waveshare 7" display; also I need wiringpi-lib for the powerbutton....
Has nobody tried it yet? I feel like Hardkernel has abandoned any real kernel software improvements lately.

you can see the kernel separately.

Code: Select all

zstd -l slarm64-current-aarch64-server-odroid_c4-6.0.1-build-20221014.img.zst Frames Skips Compressed Uncompressed Ratio Check Filename
     1 0 958 MiB 6.58 GiB 7.031 XXH64 slarm64-current-aarch64-server-odroid_c4-6.0.1-build-20221014.img.zst
12 GB ?
