Ubuntu-Mate 22.04 Linux Headers not Found 4.9.312-6

I have downloaded the current C4 Ubuntu-Mate 22.04 (Jammy) image from the Hardkernel WIKI page and have discovered that the Linux Headers are not installed in /usr/src . Any/all attempts to update this via apt update/upgrade have faile dto install them. I am unable to install 3rd party kernel drivers as it is unable to build/compile due to the missing Linux headers. I am far from an expert in Linux and even after attempts to install an updated Linux version or generic Linux headers, the kernel reports as 4.9.312-6 (uname -r). I would appreciate guidance on how I can proceed in either installing the headers for 4.9.312-6 or upgrading Linux so that compiles will work.

You need to update your system, kernel 4.9.316-7 includes the headers.

sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade

Thanks for responding but this included in the attempts to update the headers. The /usr/src remained empty.

4.9.316-7 was released a few hours ago!
You need to update now.

Normally the headers aren't installed on the mate images. Only on the minimal images
due to size contraints
