Roms not detected ODROID GO Advance (newbie)

Post by edencorbin »

Hi,

I just assembled and installed the default OS of Ubuntu with Emulation station, I flashed it with Etcher. Then I loaded it on a ubuntu machine and there is a root folder that has a roms folder that has by system name folders, I have a bunch of SNES roms and NES roms (both tested extensively with computer emulators), as well as some untested megadrive and gameboy games. Anyway, I added all these to folders by system. Then I inserted the flash drive and started the ODROID GO. It boots fine to the configuration menu, but there are no detected roms at all, I'm confused what I'm doing wrong or what to try next. Should I try just a few roms, could it be overloaded? Also weird my flash drive is 64 GB but the roms folder for some reason is 4GB max according to ubuntu. Any help most appreciated.

The image is automatically expanded to the full size of the SD card the first time it is booted on the device. If the image has not been used on the device, it will have a default size of 4GB.

Make sure the ROMs are not compressed. The NES ROMs should have an extension of ".nes", and SNES should have an extension of ".sfc". Both must be lowercase letters.

Thanks! I converted a few smc to sfc and they worked right away. Where can I find a list of all the correct formats? I'm also looking for gamegear sega genesis masterdrive, etc. It seems like Emulation Station is maybe more limited in formats then some of the other OS'es?

The list is located at /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg. It currently contains the following:

I'm also looking for gamegear sega genesis masterdrive, etc.
Find the name of the emulator in the above list and then read the "<extensions>" entry for it. For example, gamegear is "<name>gamegear</name>". The ROMs are located at "<path>/roms/gamegear/</path>", and the extension is "<extension>.gg</extension>". Genesis is "<path>/roms/megadrive/</path>" and "<extension>.md</extension>".
