OpenDingux or RetroFW?

Post by Tagruato_Corporation »

I recently got a rs-97 and flashed the internal SD with RetroFW and I love it. I was wondering if anyone here has the knowledge to port either RetroFW or OpenDingux to the OGA?

I would love to do it myself, but I don't even know where to start. I knew it wouldn't work out of the box, but I tried running one of the RetroFW images from https://github.com/retrofw/retrofw.github.io just to see what would happen and it does boot but it says "booting fail! check kernel and dtb images!" so maybe just the OGA kernel needs to be loaded in to the RetroFW image?

I'm happy to help any way that I can! Thanks for reading!

You could change the /boot to OGA kernel / DTB and try from there. Outside of that I have no experience. However I was wondering the same, if they are using the OGA images, why not the other way around !

Hi,

I am new to this, and trying to figure out how to boot my Go-Advance from an image. I am getting "booting fail! check kernel and dtb images!" error. Any ideas how to make it work?

OpenDingux and RetroFW are written for MIPS CPUs. A port to an ARM CPUs would be a monumental project. No binaries would be compatible and every device in the ARM machine would have to have drivers written for them. You could do it but NOT EASLY AT ALLLLL! It is very optimized for the MIPS chips so that is why you are not seeing anyone out the consider doing this port.
