Hi,

Normally, that problem is caused by a faulty or broken SD card.

The instructions for installing the ES updates are the same as for a RetroOZ update.

- download the update file to the PC
- unzip the update file, two files appear, one ending in .sh and the other in .gz
- insert the SD into the PC, and mount the SD partition containing the roms.
- copy the two uncompressed files (.sh and .gz) in the "ports" folder of ROMs partition
- put the SD in the console
- turn on the console
- go to the PORTS system, near the end of the game list, you will see the .sh file that you copied, run it and wait for it to finish

You can revert the ES update if you apply RetroOZ 0.52b update again.

Hi southoz:

The kernel update changes: https://github.com/JuanMiguelBG/rgb10max-linux
  • "One kernel to rule all OGS".
  • Overclocking DTB based on 351ELEC OC.
  • Fixed the problem with the peak sound on resume the system after suspend.
  • If you connect a jack handset, the sound level decrease.
  • If you disconnect a jack handset, the sound level increase.
  • Added new exFAT driver. Better performance that exFAT-fuse driver. The exFAT/NTFS partitions doesn't have the problem "first played video freeze".
The Emulationstation update changes:
  • Added overclocking option. In Advanced settings Menu.
  • Added option to active FPS on Retroarch. In Advanced settings Menu.
  • Added workaround to avoid that the first played video freeze the system on FAT partitions called "Preload VLC" in Advanced settings Menu.
  • Added option to return directly to Game list instead of options menu when press select to save the game information modification. In Advanced settings Menu.
Link to download: https://umubox.um.es/index.php/s/dS5zuk ... 0/download

Thanks to DiegoFnz for his help doing configurable by DTB the inversion of joysticks, restore sound after resume and find the command to force the load of cache in FAT partition.

Sorry there is no upgrade path because we had to change from FAT32 to exFAT to fix the issue with the video lag, Baco has done a great job including other kernel tweaks.

Just back up the contents of your ROM folder, flash the new image and copy back it took me around 6 hours for my 400GB card

Thanks very much southoz for your wonderful work !

Just a quick check if you could take a look at fixing the wifi for mesh networks ? I realised that the system is unable to retain my google wifi network name. After inputting the correct password the system doesnt register. However it works, when I tried clicking on my neighbor's wifi network (im guessing that they are using normal wifi routers).

Once again greatly appreciate what you have done ! :D

After burning this to a 1TB sd card, it shows the ROMS partition to be 2.1GB. I can repartition it to use more of the sd card, but which partition is the ROMS section on?

You have to put the SD card back in the device and boot it first before putting your roms back on. It will reformat to exfat and expand to fill the card on its own during that first boot.

I have a new card on order, try with the legacy WIFI input method through the options menu as I found it took 4 attempts to join a mesh through the emulationstation method

Hi, just burnt 0.6 to a 256GB card and noticed that there is no longer a C64 folder? Has this been omitted by mistake? Or left out for another reason?
Thanks

Quick update on support (yes the term support is very loose and thanks Baco for his hard work)

I will no longer be supporting either the Odroid Go Super or Odroid Go Advanced on the RetroGameHandhelds discord channel due to the server admins' having some fairly strong political idealism. If you like your retro gaming without politics then head over to https://discord.gg/RetroHandhelds

Please post general and Odroid Go Super, Odroid Go Advanced here and for non-hard kernel devices please raise a ticket over at the wiki.

Apologies to the RGH community, definitely a great bunch of really helpful people.

i've installed the RetroOZ image 0.60(from the 1st post) on a Odroid Go Advance v1.0 ,but when the emulation station starts ,almost all buttons don't work... except for 1 button combination for brightness.

Therefore I can't even access the menu to select my device like in this video https://youtu.be/7u0gES0Ao3A?t=583. Maybe there's a way to change the controls directly on the microSD?

Hi,

I detected that some script doesn't have the rigth permissions.

/usr/local/bin/es-overclock_system
/usr/local/bin/es-preload_vlc
/usr/local/bin/es-show_fps

They need:

Code: Select all

sudo chown root:root /usr/local/bin/es-*
sudo chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/es-*
bye.

Overall I like the new 0.60 image but because there was no in-place option I lost skyscraper. Any chance you could slip the binaries back in there? Just being able to use it from the command line is a huge bonus for me and building from source creates some dependency problems I'd rather not have to try and detangle.

Hi southoz:

I fixed some MAX2 scripts issues. Please add that fixes in the next update.

The max2-scripts-fix.zip file, it's an update file, it should be installed like any other RetroOZ update, unzipping the file and copy the content (.sh and .gz files) to /rom/ports directory. Then, on the console, go to PORTS system, execute the .sh file. Finally, reselect the Device on OPTIONS system.

Greetings,

I've updated the BezelProject script to work on Ubuntu/Debian based OSs such as RetroOZ.
https://github.com/christianhaitian/Bez ... for-rk3326

Works great for units like the OGS.

If we already have all the images, box art and videos scraped from "Skraper" How can I add them in RetroOz if our Odroid Go Super doesn't have WiFi? :)

Do the images have to be named in a specific way, such as **game**-image.jpg?
And which folder do we put everything? :)

This is what the scraped directories look like for the default theme.

Hi southoz:

I have an update to install PortMaster on RetroOZ. Now the ports should work fine.

The update process is the usual one. Unzip and copy the files (.sh and .gz) to the /roms/ports folder, then navigate to Ports System and run the PostMaster_Update file.

One update, we have the PortMaster in Options --> Tools --> PortMaster, with two executables:
  • PortMaster which will install the ports to /roms/ports.
  • Restore_Controls to restore the controls compatible with the device, requeriment after a PortMaster update.
UPDATED to PortMaster v6.51, now you don't need internet connection to install that update.

Bye and good work.

charge the device until you get negativo amps
Turn off the device
remove the back cover
disconnect the battery wire 5 minutes and press the power button some times

connect the battery wire
put the back cover
turn on the device
charge to 100%

I'm trying to get this to work on an OGA BE
I copy contents of the (extracted) zip from your github page to /roms/tools/
After a reboot I can run the script from the tools menu in ES (dialog and imgp were installed manually)
However the OGA controls don't work at all... I can't navigate or select or cancel. (I have to poweroff the OGA to exit).

It must be an issue "oga_controls" or something (they transfer over sftp and appear to have root ownership). I use odroid/odroid as login/pass.

Has anyone managed to get this working on an OGA? (not super)

Thanks

Hi southoz:

I release a new Emulation Station version 2.10.16.1.

- Master --> https://github.com/JuanMiguelBG/Emulati ... /2.10.16.1

Changes:
  • In fullscreen mode, auto active both network and battery indicators.
  • In header mode, auto deactivate both network and battery indicators.
  • Add system sort options: alphabetic, manufacturer, release date and system type, and the selector popup.
  • Add system theme text extra bindings.
  • Fix --> Althout the system screensaver is disabled, ES goes to suspension (freeze image) after screensaver timeout.
  • Added "Quick Access" menu and an option to manage the activation with "select" button on "config exit menu".
  • Added "Fast exit" commands and an option to control the display of "Fast Quit" commands on "config exit menu".
  • Add option in game menu, to delete the game.
  • Display message when an overclock configuration error.
  • Replace '_' with ' ' on songs title.
  • Fix --> Suspend device option not showing on "exit menu".
  • Added Randomicer class.
  • Update song icon.
  • Update sound features.
  • Fix the problem with height of the GuiMessageBox.
  • Start videos asynchronously.
To update ES to the v2.10.16.1 version, requires RetroOZ 0.60 viewtopic.php?p=344274#p344274.

¡¡¡ATENTION: The updates completes the 'es_systems.cfg' file information adding: manufacturer, release year and system type.
The alfabethic order may be not good, you've to edit the 'es_systems.cfg' and editing <name> tag to the rigth value.!!!

This update also redirects the standalone emulators log to the path

/roms/logs/

Bye and good work.

He may have just needed a temporary hiatus. Let's be patient and wait. I'm sure the distro works just fine as is for it's intended purpose on this chipset.

I see that this is based on ArkOS but ArkOS has builds for the OGA as well. What is the difference between RetroOZ and ArkOS on the OGA?

Also, I've flashed the RetroOZ image and it boots and looks fine but none of my buttons do anything. Any ideas what's up with that?

just want to say how much i have enjoyed this front end. it really has come a long way with developer/s that actually care and are smart. I say this because the current EmuDeck is a child compared to the polish of this one.
