I am running the July 12th 0.50 update and my LZ Doom stopped booting up. It ran after the update, but I did mess around with texture filters, midi sounds, etc in the options and it hasn't booted up since. I'm not sure if it needs a rescue script or if I have some other problem. Also, when I select Doom from the system menu, inside the Doom game list menu, the selection indicator freezes for 15-20 seconds before I can select which version of Doom I want to play.

Wifi doesn't seem to work after waking from suspend. Using 0.49 on unnamed device. Is that fixed in latest 0.50?
No I have not been able to fix the issue is USB not Wifi, I have added the supposed fixes to the boot.ini but the issue remains outstanding.

I will need to add a rescue script into the next beta (not today's) i will try and find some time to work on it when I get home tonight.

Please update with SLEEP MODE. That is an essential part for me for mobile handheld.
Any updates on when it will be added? Anyone with a workaround to add sleep mode on OZ?

Thanks in advance!

Don't Panic Sleep mode is included but USB doesn't wake from sleep and requires a reset - https://github.com/southoz/RetroOZ/wiki/Hotkeys

is there any documentation on how that sleep mode is supposed to work? on the console that shall not be named, Native setting, on the system select screen the Select button blacks out the screen, but leaves the status bar showing at the top. The Start button just brings up the Main Menu.

I found if I hold down 13 and press 15 twice, when I release, it appears to go to sleep (the power light remains lit). I can only wake it by clicking the power button. when it wakes from sleep, the volume is set to 100, but when i click volume down, it immediately drops back to the previous volume setting.
I just double checked and it's exactly the same when the Top setting is selected.

Hey SouthOZ, if you're using a file manager in RetroOZ like the old DinguxCommander, you should checkout 351Files. https://github.com/christianhaitian/351Files. It was made by another developer for another OS and ArkOS and is very easy to modify to accomodate other units like the OGS. It features an image viewer and a text editor as well. You can review this commit to see how to add support for the OGS if interested. https://github.com/christianhaitian/351 ... 0b0f1dd247

Does the OGS not use the dwc2 driver for it's USB chipset? If it does, you can workaround that issue by having that driver loaded as kernel module instead of native kernel driver so you can unload it before sleep and reload on wake.

Thanks, Christian, I got DinuxCommander compiled however the pop up windows were invisible so I will definitely check this out.

Looks like it needs more work, I get the same results but only have to push the sleep button once when the hotkey is held down.

Moonlight needs to first be paired with the PC running Geforce Experience by selecting "SERVER - PAIR WITH SERVER" and then generate the application start files with "SERVER - GENERATE APPLICATION FILES". The moonlight.conf file in the moonlight directory can be edited to set bitrate, fps, codec and platform.

Thanks a lot for this amazing work and great improvements after each update!
Just only a suggestion, if possible, to add freej2me java games emulator, some old java mobile games in 320x240 jar format will fit perfectly and look very well in OGS screen
Regards and thanks again for RetroOZ :)

Love it - many thanks for your efforts, southoz! :)

Any chance to get the ffplay movie/video player into RetroOz (https://github.com/christianhaitian/ark ... layer-work)?

You can certainly do it through SSH. It's possible to make a .sh to automate a mount command. I don't see a way to do it through 351files

I recently acquired a new OGS for my other half and set everything up with the current beta update, but ran into a snag when I couldn't seem to get a global shader default to apply properly. I did some digging, and found that in the base retroarch.cfg that the line "video_shader_enable" was set to "false", changed it to "true", and all then worked as I expected. The other line that seemed related, "auto_shaders_enable", was set to "true", so I'm not sure if I was maybe missing something or there was a better way. Just wanted to put the word out there and see if my thought was good or if it was off somehow.

The base config or global default is off, it should be done on core / content directory / game so you don't apply the setting to everything.

I was not able to get any video but I will look at alternatives in the future noted I have had the ffmpeg core working with retroarch but the frame rate was terrible lolz

Right on, that's what I thought. I must be getting something wrong, then, because even before I made that change, I tried to just save the shader preset as a content directory preset, then as a core preset. Neither seemed to work correctly - when I tried opening another game in that directory, using that core, or even the same one, I would still have to enable the shader manually each time I launched a game. I went so far as to completely clear the SD card and reinstall 0.49 and the latest 0.50 beta update just to clear everything to defaults, and it didn't seem to work until I changed that setting in retroarch.cfg. I'll do some more digging as I can and try to figure out if there's something else I'm doing wrong, as I'm not as familiar with Retroarch as I'd like. As it stands, though, it seems to work for me with that setting changed, so I take full blame and responsibility if things go wonky on me. :lol:

That aside, thanks again for all the work and time you've put in to this - it's made my OGS my favorite device in my collection, and nothing else has done as well for me on the dozen-plus other devices I've acquired. Stay awesome!

RetroOZ fails to resize the partitions on my end. Tried both download links (from 1st post), flashed with etcher and rufus.

I get to the black and white loading screen. The loading ring freezes after a few seconds (sometimes the screen turns black). Eventually the blue led (SD card access i suppose?) at the back of the OGS stops blinking. After 20min I force shutdown, taking at a look at the SD card there's still unallocated space etc..

I'm on a 16gb card which works fine with stock image and emuELEC. Does anyone else have issues with the latest .49 release? Can I grab previous releases anywhere to try those?

This happens occasionally and I think it is something to do with the way I am calculating the new partition size, what is the card model and card size?

I have Undertale working however the game in window mode trips a bug and continues to walk left, its something that needs more time to investigate the issue. Have not had any time to look at American Lazer Games.

The saved shader configuration is not loaded unless you also save an override from the bottom of the quick menu. The shader configuration is just the combination of shaders you are using saved as a config file you need to make sure it is loaded within the core, content directory or game override. It took me years to become competent at retroarch and I learn something every day.

This reminds me I have not added the Supervision configuration to the per-device configuration in 0.50 so as an example

The Content Directory shader configuration is /home/odroid/.config/retroarch/config/Potator/supervision.glslp

Code: Select all

#reference "../../shaders/shaders_glsl/handheld/lcd3x.glslp"
The Content Directory override to load the shader is set in /home/odroid/.config/retroarch/config/Potator/supervision.cfg by the video_shader_enable = "true"

Code: Select all

cheevos_challenge_indicators = "true"
input_overlay = "~/.config/retroarch/overlay/borders/ogs/supervision.cfg"
input_overlay_enable = "true"
video_shader_enable = "true"
I do not have this global as I do not think it is a great idea to enable shaders on all cores in particular PSX and Dreamcast.

That makes total sense now, and yeah, that's exactly what I was missing! I knew it had to be something, since the presets for the Game Boys that are already set in the image work just fine. Those are another example of what I don't want to mess with, as I love those as they are.

Agreed, too - in this case, it works out, because the other half only plays a few things on GBA, SNES, and Atari. Knowing that, though, will help me tinker with mine - so thank you very much for taking the time to explain and clarify to an old man. Retroarch is still fairly new to me, but I know I'm learning - it's made working with the OGS and other handhelds much more straightforward. If there's any way I can donate to buy you a cup of coffee or a beer, I'd love to do so!

Figures... thanks for the answer southoz
It's a cheap 16GB by MAGIX, it says "micro SDHC class 10 A1 V10"
It does indeed work fine on my 64GB sandisk ultra "SDXC class 10 A1"

Let me know if you change the way you resize the partitions, I can try it on the cheap card ^^

Does the USB need to be in a specific format for it to be picked up? ie Fat32, or is exfat acceptable as well? I ask because I'm trying to mount it and it shows as blank

The code was 100% borrowed from ArkOS and I believe it supports ntfs, fat, fat32 and Exfat, I tested it using a fat32 formatted USB noting the mount point is /mnt/usbdrive It is a late entry to 0.50 and I will spend some time getting the screen output working with RetroOZ.

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash
if [ ! -d "/mnt/usbdrive/" ]; then
    sudo mkdir /mnt/usbdrive
fi

filesystem=`lsblk -no FSTYPE /dev/sda1`
if [ "$filesystem" = "ntfs" ]; then
        filesystem="ntfs-3g"
fi

sudo mount -t $filesystem /dev/sda1 /mnt/usbdrive -o uid=1000
status=$?

if test $status -eq 0
then
  printf "\n\n\e[32m$filesystem USB drive is mounted to /mnt/usbdrive...\n"
  printf "\033[0m"
  sleep 3
else
  printf "\n\n\e[91mCould not find a Fat, Fat32, Exfat, or NTFS based USB drive to mount...\n"
  printf "\033[0m"
  sleep 3
fi

Try installing the exfat support from ssh

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install exfat-fuse exfat-utils
