Hi Pung, glad you got OMV working on the N2. Thanks for the guide. Can I ask what kinds of file transfer speeds you are getting with OMV on Debian Stretch with the N2. Are you using a gigabit ethernet connection and USB 3 drive?

Can't wait to get my hands on it too.

Wow, really? I would have expected faster transfers with this board. Are you using a Gigabit network connection and a fast USB 3 drive?

I think @Pung says not about internal network. :)

As you know, with 100 Mbps internet service, we would get 9~11 MB/s transfer speed with an external server.
With an internal network service like using Samba, you'd get more than 80 MB/s between your device and ODROID-N2.

In USB 3.0 speed, we've measured with SSD and could get about more than 300 MB/s. Please refer to this introduction page: https://www.hardkernel.com/blog-2/odroid-n2/

And FYI,

I had success installing OMV 5 Preview on ODROID N2 with Debian Stretch. :)

edit) Sorry, not Stretch, it's Buster (Debian 10). OMV 5 is only for Buster. I forgot that name.

@joshua.yang,
Good! Can you measure the SMB performance on the OMV5?

Ah, thank you for clarifying. I am expecting my N2 to arrive any day now and was worried it was only going to give me transfer rates of 10-12 mbps on my Samba network.

That sounds great about using OMV 5 on Buster, was it difficult to get up and running? Please let us know your benchmarks.

Sure,

I've just tested with USB 3.0 SATA drive.

Transferred 10GB dump file from the external drive attached to N2 to the HDD on my desktop computer (Not Windows but it supports well nowadays).

I think OMV 5 and/or its based Debian 10 image is not tuned yet. It shows about 30~50 MB/s.
But in using scp, it shows up to 90 MB/s.

iozone is fine on that USB SATA drive. Up to 140~160 MB/s for reading.

It is not that difficult. :)

Install Debian Buster using @tobetter 's great netboot installer image: viewtopic.php?t=30869, TL;DR, http://ppa.linuxfactory.or.kr/installer/ODROID-N2/ ;)
Then follow this official guide: https://forum.openmediavault.org/index. ... 10-Buster/

Done.

But I'd still recommend you to use OMV 4 because OMV 5 is on progress.
